Two of my most favorite artists in the world – Saipua and Anna Bond of Rifle Design – created a crazy beautiful masterpiece out of this New York wedding from Weddings by Two and Always a Bridesmaid. The delicious arrangements of white and peach blossoms in mercury glass vases and Rifle Design’s signature dreamy paper goods are just a match made in wedding heaven. When my now-husband and I started planning our wedding I never, for one second, thought a volcanic ash cloud would define the day. But thanks to Eyiafjallajokull’s enormous cloud of ash, 33 of our guests flying from London to New York City were left on the other side of the Atlantic. Fortunately, there is YouTube. The best man, stuck on the other side of the pond, organized a lunch to celebrate our wedding – everyone dressed in their wedding best and filmed a touching toast that was later aired at our reception.
Ash aside, the day was magnificent. All the beautiful details we planned came to life, and we had such an amazing time, we now plan to hold a ‘blessing’ in London for all the guests who could not make it. Fast forward to after the wedding, and we were left trying to find accommodations for the UK guests who were told by various airlines that they might not be able to fly back to London for three weeks.
Meanwhile, my husband and I were packing up our New York City apartment as we were about to embark on a year-long, around-the-world adventure. I almost can’t believe we pulled it all off!
