It’s officially Fashion Week on SMP and I am in seventh heaven. Not a bad way to start a Monday morning if you ask me. All week we’re going to be focusing on the latest runway collections, couture inspired real weddings, perfect headpieces and fashion details that will make you SWOON. And we’re kicking off the adventure with this insanely glamorous, fashion fabulous affair where New York based photographer, Craig Paulson, had his camera ready to capture every fashionable second. And my goodness was there a lot.

First let’s talk about that dress. The concoction is what I like to call the mullet dress (party in the front, business in the back and all kinds of pretty) and I am a HUGE, HUGE fan! The beautiful bride actually took a vintage dress and reworked it into complete and utter perfection. Gorgeous and eco-friendly – Oh how I love that. Here are a few words from the bride herself (who happens to be a fashion designer)
My dress was purchased at Cheap Jacks Vintage store in Manhattan for $350. It has no tags, so it might be homemade, circa the 50′s/60′s. It was full length and I had it cut off to be short in the front and long in the back, removed the straps and a pink flower applique, added a jeweled belt, and basically redesigned the entire thing to be more modern. Inspired by Stephanie Seymour in the Guns N’Roses November Rain video and also the Spring ’09 Balmain collection with rock n roll short front/long back party dresses.
My headpiece was purchased on Etsy. It’s actually three things all pinned on my head together because I couldn’t find one I liked by itself. There are 2 tulle flower barrettes by Myra Kim, which I wore all night, and a small blusher birdcage french netting veil that I wore during the ceremony.

So beautiful! I've been to a wedding at the Foundry and it is just the most perfect spot - totally hip and chic and fun all at the same time. The details in this are just gorgeous!

So beautiful! I love that she took a dress and altered it to make it her own - definitely showcases her own fashion. And I think it definitely tied in with the rest of the wedding. Love the bridesmaid dresses too!
I love those flower garland curtains she's standing in front of in the first picture. Can we please learn more about them? Are they DIY? Are they for sale?? I love them!! What a gorgeous wedding.
Those shoes are amazing! Totally perfect!
Oh WOW! What a great start to the week
Hot dress! Love it!
Sweet pics - crazy cool dress!
Slightly obsessed with her shoes!
Awesome! I am not nearly cool enough to pull of this look but that whole wedding is amazing! I love that the bride found a dress and made it her own. Also adoring the fact that she didn't cover her tattoos!
SO in love with her dress! Amazing!
hi--thanks for all the lovely comments about my dress! It was superfun to wear and to dance in, and way cheaper than a new dress.
Celine--the hanging strands of flowers were made by my florist, Thomas at Prudence Designs in NY.
Cheers! and good luck to all the brides to be. Wish I could do it over and over again. :)
--Melody (the bride)
Hey Melody, what a beautiful wedding!! Can I ask where you bought the jeweled belt? It's perfect with the dress and looks amazing. I'm planning to do the same for mine but haven't had much luck. Thanks!
beautiful photography!
hi Christina, it's a strip of beaded taping I bought at Sposabella on 40th st in NYC. I just had it sewn on the waistline of my dress. The taping was not cheap there, but it was very beautiful. Other trim/fabric stores might have less pricey options.
i have my heart set on this dress. xxxx
stunning bride! love the tattoos and holy freaking love that dress!
AKshfkjdsh! That opening photo is SO "OMG" that I'm lost for words

What a beautiful dress! I can't believe this bride's luck in finding it. Beau-ti-ful!
Melody - ABSOLUTELY LOVELY! I got SO excited seeing this post - I'm getting married exactly one year later in exactly the same venue and your pictures reaffirm that I also made some pretty awesome decisions. Thanks so much for sharing!
