I’m pretty darn sure, once this post publishes, I will pin every summer-loving image of this picture perfect Nantucket soiree captured by Zofia & Co. Photography. Every single one of them. Because between the stunning florals from Flowers On Chestnut  and the gorgeous ‘Sconset setting, I’m pretty sure I am head over heels in love with this gallery

From the Bride…Michael and I met in college at Fordham University and got engaged on a vacation in Ireland after years of being together. It was a special trip for us as I wanted to show Michael where my family is from since both sides of my family are Irish and my mom was born there. After Michael popped the question in a private spot overlooking the Lakes of Killarney, we headed out for a celebratory dinner in town. Seated next to us were 15 Irish gentlemen who, after realizing we had just gotten engaged, proceeded to go to the front of the restaurant where there was a piano (naturally) and serenaded us in true Irish fashion for over an hour. It was such a special experience and one we’ll never be able to recreate.

We wanted our September wedding to capture some of the natural beauty, local color and connection to our families that we had found in Ireland and Nantucket was our first choice by a landslide. Having grown up on the island, Michael spent months telling me what a beautiful and special place it is when we first started dating. I was immediately hooked on my first trip there to visit his family. The friendly people, pristine beaches and dramatic bluffs reminded me so much of Ireland. We knew it was the perfect spot to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends who were traveling in from Boston, New York, Houston, San Francisco, England, Hong Kong and Italy. In keeping with the spirit of travel, we were drawn to the vintage postcard save-the-dates from Lucky Luxe. We had ours made with the image of the Sankaty Lighthouse as we thought it would be a fun way to invite everyone up to the island to celebrate.

Having our ceremony and reception at the ‘Sconset Chapel and Sankaty Head Golf Club in ‘Sconset were two relatively easy decisions as they not only provided the perfect settings but were two spots that complemented the laid back but elegant feel we wanted our wedding to have. Our mass was officiated by Father Tueth, S.J. a Jesuit priest and professor at Fordham. Though neither Michael nor I had Father Tueth as a professor, he is a beloved fixture on campus and someone we knew we wanted to be part of our big day. He brought a lot of humor to the mass and reception and we were so fortunate to have him. At the reception, we wanted our wedding guests to enjoy the beautiful sunset and local seafood samplings from Spanky’s Raw Bar (a Nantucket staple) and then head inside for a fun party.

We were so lucky to work with our amazing vendors who are all Nantucket locals and know the island inside out. Jodi’s Cakes made our beautiful Sankaty Head Lighthouse cake, the lighthouse that can be seen from the venue. Flowers on Chestnut put together the most beautiful arrangements of colorful wildflowers that popped against the navy blue bridesmaid dresses and lit up the interior of Sankaty without taking away from the views the venue provided. Zofia and Brian from Zofia & Co. Photography were so amazing to work with and we are so happy with the photos they took for us. The images captured the feel of the day and they knew all the right spots to photograph us in ‘Sconset. Zofia even found a dahlia bush that was in bloom with the same deep pink dahlias that were in my bouquet.

A family friend of Micheal’s chauffeured us in his ’54 Ford. Driving with him, my dad and two sisters to the ceremony helped relax any pre-wedding nerves as he made it such a fun, relaxed and unique experience. My ‘something borrowed’ was my mom’s pearl bracelet and my aunt’s platinum set pave diamond four leaf clover earrings from 1920, yet another nod to our Irish heritage. My seamstress sewed my ‘something blue’ wedding label into the inside of my dress that had been given to me by one of my oldest friends & bridesmaid. Michael, who spent time riding cross country on his motorcycle with his best friend in college, wore antique motorcycle cufflinks I had gotten for him at The Missing Link in NYC. For our smallest guests, we outfitted my nephews in Nantucket reds and navy blue striped bow-ties that matched the ribbons in our bridesmaid’s bouquets. They were dancing all night long to music from ECliff and the Swingdogs.

We spent our honeymoon in Italy, where Michael’s side of the family is from and we wish we could do it all over again!
