From the bride… My and James’ love story began on Robert Moses Beach on Long Island, NY while I was home from college one summer afternoon. Our love flourished in a small seaside town in Rhode Island. James spent countless weekends traveling between New York and Rhode Island visiting me at college. We have a deep love for travel, upon completion of college we moved to Southern California where we resided for 2 years. Upon our return from San Diego, I enrolled as a global volunteer in Bahia, Brazil and worked in an orphanage for several months. That didn’t stop James, who came and spent a month with me working with all the adorable children.
On a sunny July morning when we were on their way to visit our favorite island in New England, Nantucket, James stopped off 95 to get coffee. To my disbelief there was a giant billboard with the words: Gabrielle will you marry me? Once we reached Nantucket they were greeted by my family who flew up just to celebrate the occasion. We fell in love with Nantucket and New England during our college days, it is the most beautiful island we have ever visited, full of quaint homes, hidden gardens, beautiful beaches and adorable shops. I always said it reminded me of a story book.
Following Style Me Pretty religiously throughout the planning process I was inspired by so many gorgeous weddings and took details that I liked and then put our own spin and style on them. I learned what I wanted our photographs to look like and knew I wanted both photos and film to capture our vision. I worked closely with Dawn Kelly to create a vintage, romantic feel. The amazing, Bettina Landt of The White Elephant, was responsible for making my entire day so special – she handled every detail and made my dream wedding come true!
