NFL Star Michael Burton Marries His Childhood Sweetheart At The Dreamiest Outdoor Affair

Prepare yourself for pretty as far as the eye can see. Michael Burton, RB for the Washington Redskins, and his childhood sweetheart Kristen had an al fresco Maryland wedding that will have your heart singing. Kirsten worked closely with East Made Co to design a wedding as beautiful as their life-long love story, with family-style tables swathed in linen and silk all set against a backdrop of rolling hills. Michael And Carina Photography lovingly snapped all the swoon-worthy pics, see all the beautiful details in the full gallery.

From Michael And Carina PhotographyIn a love story seemingly out of a fairytale, in a world where only 2% of new marriages in the US are between couples who started dating in high school, Michael and Kirsten began dating in eighth grade and haven’t looked back since. They first met in sixth grade, as students attending the same middle school in Long Valley, New Jersey. Once they began dating “officially” two years later, their lives and families became forever intertwined. Spending their free time in high school with friends, at Michael’s football games, and on dates to the local candy shop, the couple continued their relationship when they both attended college together at Rutgers.

After college, Kirsten became a teacher through Teach for America and Michael was drafted into the NFL as a fullback for the Detroit Lions. Following two seasons with the Lions and two seasons with the Chicago Bears, Michael now plays for the Washington Redskins, and Kirsten has supported his career the entire way. The pair are no strangers to long distance love, keeping a home base in Maryland, where Kirsten’s family now resides. Spending so much of the past four years apart made their wedding weekend at Foxfire, a private horse farm estate in Monkton, Maryland, that much more special for all involved.

Always having envisioned an al fresco, family style, dinner under twinkle lights, Kirsten worked closely with Maryland wedding planner East Made Co to design a warm, intimate-feeling wedding, inspired by subtle textured fabrics like linen and silk, and a color palette of complex neutrals. Although the wedding was designed to evoke an outdoor California wine country feel, Maryland’s unpredictable summer weather kept everyone on their toes leading into the evening, with thunderstorms popping up all around the area. Luckily, not a drop of rain fell on Kirstenand Michael’s celebration; instead, guests enjoyed an impressive rainbow seen beyond the rolling hills of Monkton. What better symbol of good luck and happiness to commemorate this absolutely meaningful day?

How to Mix Rustic Chic with Black Tie Elegance

The Bride’s favorite detail of her day was the florals from Amaryllis Event Design, and we can see why. In rich fall shades of aubergine, navy, larkspur blue, burgundy and hints of blush, the lush arrangements of roses, anemones and garden roses added a touch of romance to this “rustic chic” fall day. See all the pretty, thanks to Readyluck, in The Vault!

From The Bride…Before getting engaged, I never imagined what my dream wedding would be like. All Ian and I knew was that we wanted a fall wedding in a special venue where the autumnal beauty would be a backdrop for our big day. After many hours of searching on Style Me Pretty, Pinterest, and any other website I could think of, I knew I had to have a barn wedding with a ‘rustic chic’ theme. Once we chose our venue, a beautiful 3-level barn on exquisite grounds, all of the fine details started coming together.

When choosing my color palette and bridesmaid dresses, I knew I wanted all 12 girls to pick whatever style they felt most comfortable in and also their favorite color in my palette: aubergine, blush, midnight navy, and larkspur blue. The final color in my palette, burgundy, was used in all of the flowers (and my manicure) to tie all of the bridesmaids together to make a cohesive story.

Speaking of flowers, I could not be more obsessed with my bouquet, my bridesmaids’ bouquets and the floral decor on the chuppah! It’s hard to pick a favorite but all of the flower arrangements from our wedding are my favorite detail of the entire day. Amaryllis executed my vision PERFECTLY and I could not be happier with how all of the flowers turned out!

Another favorite detail of our wedding was the naked wedding cake Graul’s made for us – it was not only delicious but absolutely beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Our wedding day felt like an absolute dream and we are so thankful for our amazing team who executed it so flawlessly. Thanks to the amazing photography of Lindsay from READYLUCK, we get to relive the best day of our lives over and over again!

Elegant Historic Clynmalira Estate Wedding

To say we’re obsessed with this Bride’s ruffled collar wedding gown is an understatement. It’s perfect for this elegant wedding at a historic estate owned by the Groom’s parents, while pops of yellow through a billy button bouquet and shoes bring a bright and cheery feel to the festivities captured by Mary Neumann Photography. See it all in the full gallery right here!

From Mary Neumann PhotographyIn designing her wedding, Paxton used her talents to create an elegant, lovely, unforgettable day. The day oozed class, from the ruffled collar on her stunning gown, to the navy suits on the Groom and his Men, and even a vintage Rolls Royce – the details were flawless. Add with the Historic Clynmalira Estate (owned by the Groom’s parents!) as a backdrop, this wedding was beyond gorgeous.

The guests included friends from Europe and the most loving of family and friends. In short – the ultimate celebration. Paxton and Matthew are some of the most genuine and lovely people I have had the pleasuring of working with, so that makes this day even more meaningful… a perfect day for the most perfect of couples.
