Devon Rachel’s Bridal Shower!

Hello, Pretty Brides! It’s Devon from Devon Rachel and my wedding is less than TWO weeks away! It’s getting crazy busy and excited for my big day, so I’m trying to remember to breathe and take everything in. Speaking of which, I did a lot of that at my bridal shower. I was blown away by the adorable set up and was so overwhelmed with love and joy. Take a peek for yourself!

This is the biggest day of my life! It’s such an emotional experience and I truly feel all the love around me. It has been a long journey of planning and it’s going to be crazy to see it all come together. I’m crying even writing this now! Gosh, let’s hope the waterproof makeup is glued to my face. And let’s hope I manage to hold back the ugly cry down the aisle!

My mother’s friend Suzanne hosted the lovely affair along with our family friends. It was so me. That’s the only way I know how to describe it! A little bit of gold and stripes combined with whimsical flowers. Anthropologie meets Chanel. Check out these adorable water bottles designed by Katie of K.T. Studio. She really went the extra mile on these. I loved the branding!

I hope you enjoy all the photos and stay tuned to see more of my big day + the festivities. I’m ready to eat, drink, and be married!

Frisco Wedding at Frisco Heritage Center from Jeremy & Kristin Photography

Ever wonder what you get when you combine sweet vintage details, a gorgeous rustic vibe and a stunning Texas duo?  Well, lovelies, the answer to your question is right here in this beyond beautiful Frisco Heritage Center wedding, which is the proud owner of all three.  It’s beautiful blooms from Dirt meets a lacy Maggie Sottero masterpiece meets a ceremony at the oldest church in the city and it was all captured amazingly by Jeremy & Kristin Photography.  Ready for a day of pure lovely? Join me in the gallery for more.

From the Bride… Our ceremony took place at the original Lebanon Baptist Church in Frisco, Texas which happens to be the oldest church in the city. Because of the location the wedding theme came pretty easy. We called it rustic chic with a vintage touch. I designed our invitations from scratch and had them printed with a local printer for an extra personal touch. My dress was perfect and nothing like what Alex thought I’d walk down the aisle in. It screamed vintage elegance from head to toe with all of the lace and delicate details. Alex and his groomsmen wore chocolate brown suits made by Haggar Clothing Co.

The ceremony was very intimate with a string duet playing and the sun glowing in from the stained glass windows. We had these amazing birch branch arrangements at the alter with flowers billowing over the burlap wrapped plant pots. We incorporated wooden elements throughout the wedding actually, everywhere from the fabric cover of our guest book with branch pens to our oversized polished tree stump as our cake stand. Our reception continued the theme with moss table runners that were draped over muslin tablecloths with cut tree slices and a ton of mercury glass candles. We even made tabletop confetti using vintage sheet music punched into lovebirds. Our cakes were designed by Alex and I because we wanted cakes that weren’t typical. My cake was layered with an ombré tiered Madegascar vanilla with a hint of orange zest and had the most amazing flowers with brooch centers. The groom’s cake was very masculine and square and was eight layers tall with Andes Mint and chocolate ganache icing. Our favors were little handmade honey jars filled with local honey with lids covered in several vintage fabrics.

As I look back at that day that seemed like a million years in the making, I simply grin as it fills me with so many happy thoughts and memories. From our first dance to our family cutting loose on the dance floor. It was a day filled with so many tiny details and lots of love that I’m sure we will enjoy for a lifetime. Our biggest challenge that day was trying to actually setup all the little details in one day’s time while still being a bride and primping. Of course, more important than the decorations was having all of the people Alex and I love the most there to celebrate with us. We are forever grateful to our friends, family and wedding party for keeping us sane and for helping.

Texas Wedding by Birds of a Feather Events

The folks at Birds of a Feather Events sent us the cutest little wedding to share today. So adorable, in fact, that I kind of want to wrap it up and stick it in my pocket for safe keeping. Plus I’m a sucker for billy balls and there happens to be a plethora at this shindig all caught on film by the talented Tara Swain Photography. If you are a fan of cupcakes, checkered vans and other such light hearted details, you too will appreciate this fete and don’t forget to stop by the gallery. There is even more of this Texas wedding to oh and ahh over.

see it all in the gallery!

8.16 8:16 816 These three numbers in various ways are what started this entire adventure that is now my life. Rather than formally proposing first, Billy decided to set the date first…via text message. He is a bit A.D.D and when he gets into the zone at work (he is a photographer) his mind starts racing. He said that had to be the date, 8.16.2010. My birthday is 6.16 and his is 10.16, and 8.16 met us right in the middle. So, we texted each other at 8:16AM, we texted each other at 8:16PM, our home address is even 3816. Eventually he did propose, with a ring and everything! After much back and forth about elopements, courthouses, and tradition we decided on tradition – we would get married here in the area and have a proper wedding. Only hitch? 8.16 worked for us…and us only! Our parents were not too keen on a Monday night wedding. Long story short, we compromised. Ceremony and reception on the 15th, papers signed on the 16th. Two anniversaries equals two gifts, right?

As soon as I started planning I fell in love with the entire process, it turned into a true passion and when it was all done I wasn’t ready to stop. I was helping other people plan their weddings while I was planning my own. Birds of a Feather Events was born, and I haven’t looked back!

The night before the wedding I just wanted a nice quiet dinner with a handful of my closest girlfriends, I had already been to Vegas 2 weeks prior, so the partying was out of my system! Our wedding was at 2pm, so the hair and make up started early the next morning. We did a first look before the ceremony, which I HIGHLY recommend, they are my favorite photos from the entire day! We did not have a bridal party, just a flower girl, but I decided to surprise my mom and ask her to be my maid of honor about 15 minutes prior to the ceremony. This was definitely one of the highlights of the day. Our ceremony was a comedy of errors, my earring fell off when I hugged my dad, Billy was sweating profusely on his head, and the officiant quoted a lyric from our least favorite band…but all those little things made it that much more memorable and we have some funny stories to tell for years. We decided to wear checkerboard Vans rather than traditional shoes, they are Billy’s favorite and I really wanted to just be comfortable all day. We even talked our dads and the officiant into wearing them as well. I hand made all of the favors during the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding, and most of the decor was purchased from vintage shops or on Etsy. Overall it was a fabulous day and I truly feel like I get to relive it over and over again through my wonderful clients!
