Sioux Falls, South Dakota Wedding at Steever House Bed & Breakfast

This is the type of wedding will truly take your breath away, and you won’t even realize it until you are at the end of the images gasping for air. Because breathing just seems like a secondary need when you are devouring all the gorgeous perfectly snapped up by Jeff Sampson taking place in this South Dakota soiree. It’s by far one of the most lovely weddings I’ve ever seen, and you can dissect every detail right here.

From the Bride…We knew we wanted a comfortable wedding with the atmosphere of a big family gathering. We tried to use space and focal points to encourage interaction among guests who didn’t know each other well. Most of our friends are from different parts of our lives and some family hadn’t even met! Steever House, my aunt and uncle’s bed and breakfast outside of Sioux Falls, was the perfect venue. The reception card read “Feasting and Merriment” so we created a menu to reflect a bountiful, celebratory feast with an over-the-top fruit and cheese table created by one of my mom’s good friends and a sweets table full of cupcakes and macaroons. We used Liam’s mother’s Maryland crab cake recipe alongside prime rib (a Tiahrt favorite) to continue the “family dinner” feel. The weather didn’t cooperate, but we had lawn games ready to serve as another small group conversation/gathering spot. The bar/cigar tent and nearby fire pits got good use though.

A May wedding lends itself to beautiful spring colors and lots of soft texture so I picked long, flowy, pink chiffon bridesmaids dresses. I bought pink mercury glass vases for centerpieces and added mercury glass and hobnail votives for warmth and texture on white linens. We mirrored the peony, hydrangea and ranunculus centerpieces with big fluffy tissue poms tied to the tent ceiling.

I used 1 Corinthians 13 phrases on the handmade guest favors – painted mugs filled with ranunculus. The scripture is such an inspiration and a measuring stick for what we believe love should look like.

We also fell in love with the Burgues Script font used on our invitations and continued that throughout the wedding. I personally designed and created the wedding programs, dinner menus and other printed items and had everything printed on site at the FedEx in Sioux Falls the day beforehand. Whew!
