Hello, lovelies! Alas, another week has come and gone. But whatever the weekend has waiting, we wanted to leave a good SMP taste in your mouth with some stunning florals from the talented ladies at Flower Girl NYC. Photographer Marjorie Prvl stumbled upon the Lower East Side establishment and, lucky for us, teamed up to create quite the gallery. So go. Be free. And take time to smell (er…look at) the roses.

From Marjorie Prvl Photography… In my search to expand my portfolio, I came across the talented ladies over at Flower Girl NYC and reached out to them. I asked them if they were interested in having me stop by the shop so that I could photograph a few of their bridal arrangements and they happily agreed. Their shop is located in the Lower East Side of New York. They crafted these simple but gorgeous arrangements for me to capture. Enjoy!

It never fails: I see the breathtaking work of Karen Wise and my entire heart turns to putty. It’s just one of those givens in my day to day here at SMP, and this beautiful Manhattan affair? I want it. From the gorgeous stylings of James Abel Events to that stunning gown from Gabriella New York Bridal Salon to the bride whose smile lights up the entire room, it’s pure perfection. See it all here.
And an amazing film from Clark + Walker Studio…
From James Abel Events… When Dana and Stu were beginning to plan their wedding, there were several things that were important to them. Creating a fun, relaxed yet interesting environment for their guests was top on their list. Angel Orensanz was the perfect location with its unique architectural details and its wonderful open space. They decided to do long tables with white flowers. A “pop” of a russet color was used throughout the wedding including invitations and flowers to mirror Dana’s amazing red hair.
With Stu’s love of Steve McQueen and Dana’s of Audrey Hepburn, these elements were definitely going to be incorporated. During the cocktail hour, classic movies of both of these Hollywood icons were shown in the background. Finally, Stu’s other love… Bourbon! A variety of boutique bourbons were set up for guests to do tasting at their leisure. Overall, this wedding was one of the most unique, that totally embraced the couple and their interests.

We all know that New York City is one of the coolest places on the planet… that’s a fact. But throw in an adorable duo who are super excited to say “I do” and a day of lovely captured by Theo Milo and it becomes one of the most romantic places on earth, as well. Greatest city on earth? We think so. See all of the lovely right here.
From the Bride… Even though Peter and I will be getting married next year in my home state of North Carolina, we both liked the idea of getting our engagement photos taken in NYC. Manhattan has always been the backdrop to our relationship and now it is where we have made our first home together. We live in the Bowery, right in the mecca of three hip and trendy neighborhoods (SoHo, Lower East Side, and the East village) and we really wanted pictures to reflect our real lives in our actual hang out spots. I had the idea of an ‘Uptown & Downtown’ engagement shoot theme and spent a lot of time scoping out street art locales around our neighborhood (and not to mention deciding on just the right amount of leather!).
While I love the timelessness of our shots in Central Park, I’m a bit obsessed with how our downtown pictures came out. Our photographer, Theo Milo, did an amazing job working with all of the locations we gave him. It’s hard to believe that all of the downtown photos are within a three block radius of our house – Theo even got our normal coffee spot to look magical. And we lucked out with the bold graffiti wall right across from our apartment, it changes all the time and this had to be the best one I’ve seen yet. Some of my favorites are with our adorable puppy, Bowery, she steals the show! Being a southerner it took me a while to embrace the city, but now I feel so lucky we get to spend this fun time in our lives in the greatest city in the world.

Some things in life are just a given. You’ll never have to argue that the sky is blue, or that this wedding at The Bowery Hotel captured by Dave Robbins Photography is perfection. Because it’s just fact. With Ang Weddings and Events at the planning helm and floral design by Blooming Today it’s no surprise the day was perfectly pretty. It was all topped off with a buffet of cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery serving as the icing on the cake for this gorgeous day, so devouring this gallery? That should also be a given. See it here.

From the Bride… Brian and I met through Nicole, his cousin and my best friend and matron of honor. I’m from Dallas and Brian is from Long Island, so our theme was “Texan Weds Yankee”. We incorporated Texan and New York elements to showcase our backgrounds. We first saw The Bowery Hotel while attending an after-party for the band, The Strokes after their MSG show in 2011. The second we walked into the Bowery, we both instantly fell in love with the space. It was such a unique venue and we knew that if we were going to be married in New York City, we would have to try and somehow swing the Bowery. Our puppy, Penny Lane is our family and had to be included in our special day!

From Judy Pak Photography… Ginevra and Mike are a dash of down-to-earth goodness mixed with a tad of rock and roll. For their engagement session, we went to the Lower East, which perfectly complimented the couple’s elegant urban style. These two were a joy to photograph as they cozied up among stone building facades, city gardens and coffee shops. I cannot wait for their wedding next year!
