Glamorous East Hampton Wedding

As a West Coaster, I’ve never actually ventured to the Hamptons (I know, it’s a total travesty), but judging from this gorgeous Montauk affair, it’s exactly where I want to get married.  Because if my wedding day is even one tenth as glamorous and gorgeous as this stunning day is, I’ll consider myself seriously blessed. See it all captured beautifully by Jonathan Young Weddings right here.

And a beautiful film from Tweed Weddings… amazing.

From the Bride… For years Montauk has been our favorite place to escape to. We live in Manhattan but find ourselves venturing out there as often as we can. Having vacationed there for many years with his family, Richie introduced me to “The East End” the first year we started dating and I was immediately smitten. There is something about being out east, especially on the cliffs of Montauk, that makes you feel as though you are at the end of the earth. It’s awe-inspiring and magical.  Richie proposed to me at the base of the cliff at Montauk’s lighthouse. So when the time came to start planning our wedding, we knew “The East End” was the perfect spot — we felt like it represented us equally and we were eager to share such a special place with our family and friends.

Our wedding ceremony was held at St. Therese of Lisieux in Montauk, a beautiful airy church that overlooks both the village of Montauk and the ocean. Our reception was held in East Hampton at really neat venue, East Hampton Point. Originally East Hampton was not at all part of our plan, but that quickly changed with our first visit to EHP – it was the perfect space and captured just what we were looking for. Its chic and timeless, yet modern, and provides just the right dose of nautical charm. We couldn’t have wished for a better venue or setting.

Since not only the reception venue, but our entire wedding weekend was basically set on the water, I didn’t want to play into the nautical theme too much – it spoke for itself. Instead I opted to keep our overall vision classic with tiny touches of glamour strewn throughout. I wanted it to have the look and feel of a true affair. It all came together seamlessly thanks to our wonderful vendors, all of whom I cannot speak of highly enough!

Planning a wedding without a “planner” or “day-of coordinator” can definitely be tricky, stressful and often very overwhelming. Thankfully our families and friends were very helpful throughout the entire process. Some of my favorite details were the most personal. My mom hand-wrote the calligraphy for our invitations, place-cards and other paper goods. My parents created a Gaelic inspired wedding sign (a nod to both of our Irish heritages) to help our guests find their way, and many endless hours of ribbon tying, letter stamping and other personal touches were generously donated by our families and a few close friends.

The day itself could not have been more spectacular. The weather cooperated, our mass was beautiful (a personal family friend presided over our vows), and our reception was a complete blast.  The dance floor was packed throughout the night, which is exactly what we was hoping for, the food was unbelievable and toasts so full of love and laughs. What was most remarkable however, was the fact that the most special people in our lives were there for us in that one place – a rarity that we will always treasure. There is only one thing I would change. If I could, I would have the day last twice as long. It truly was THE. BEST. DAY. EVER.

East Hampton Point Wedding by Samuel Lippke Studios

East Hampton Point is one of the most classic venues, and when we see the way Samuel Lippke Studios captures its beauty with the timeless elegance and charm of these nuptials, we just melt. Complete with the Hamptons’ signature shingles and the couple’s picture perfect nautical theme, this wedding simply lights up our world.  The bride and groom’s witty way of easily blending boat shoes and sunglasses with  Jimmy Choos and white roses is just one part of this wedding that makes it downright lovable. Don’t fret, there are plenty more pictures in the gallery for you right here.

From Samuel Lippke StudiosWe loved the nautical Hamptons theme that the couple embraced so naturally. This was really a one of a kind wedding. You will love everything, from the bride’s stunning Reem Acra gown to the groom and his groomsmen’s stylish sailor garb!

From the Bride… We were married in the Hamptons — it was an easy decision as we’re both from NYC and have been spending our summers there forever. We also love boating, so the Hamptons and boating set the theme: Hamptons chic with a nautical twist.

From the bride…Ramin and I met on Easter Sunday 2002 on a Metro North commuter train from New York City to New Haven, Connecticut. I was returning from Easter brunch with my family and Ramin was returning from the wedding of a close friend in Baltimore, Maryland.  Over the next 7 years, we remained friends and dated on and off until reuniting in May 2009. In January 2010, Ramin and I planned a trip to visit his mother who lived in San Francisco. Unbeknownst to me, Ramin also planned a surprise weekend in Napa Valley, California where he proposed.  We had spent several weekends on the Eastern end of Long Island, specifically Montauk and East Hampton the summer before our engagement. We loved the relaxed and down–to-earth feeling of the seaside towns.  We knew it was the perfect location for our big day.

From Lauren of Lauren Gabrielle PhotographyHe first set eyes on her at a college sorority blind date party. The funny thing is, Mike didn’t attend the party intending to meet a girl — he decided to go with some friends just to have fun. Little did he know he would meet his future wife, Mika. At first they were just friends, but over time they knew something special was happening to their relationship. Mike proposed to Mika near his childhood home on Rockaway Beach … it was the perfect setting for such a romantic occasion with the smooth sand, crashing waves, soft breeze, and the sentiment that Mike for this beach. Mika and Mike decided they also wanted to have a beach wedding and figured that the Hamptons was the easiest “destination wedding” that they could have within driving distance from Manhattan. Their original plan of renting a house and setting up a tent for the reception didn’t pan out, but luckily they somehow stumbled upon Race Lane. As soon as they walked into the space, they knew it was just what they were looking for! It had a great indoor/outdoor space, lovely decor, delicious food and great owners. The owner’s wife even created all of the table arrangements herself! As for the music, Mika’s childhood friend plays in a band so it worked out great that they were able to have him as part of a trio to play music at the ceremony and reception. Overall, all the elements of the day came together perfectly, and it was such a pleasure to witness and photograph the love between this beautiful couple!

East Hampton Wedding from Karen Hill Photography

Though this East Hampton wedding was warm enough for the stunning bride to don a strapless gown on the beach, the colors and feel of the day evoke the perfect ambiance for today’s wintery air. The always fabulous Karen Hill Photography was the lady behind the lens, and boy are we glad she was. She captured the elegant beauty of this wedding phenomenally. Make sure to save time for the rest right here in the full image gallery!

The first time Matt and I went to East Hampton, NY for a mini-vacation, I fell in love with a church at the town entrance. One year later, we were saying our vows in front of close friends and family in that exact church. Our story, however, began eight years earlier at Williams College where we were in the same circle of friends but only started really spending time together our Junior year. The summer before our Senior year on campus we started dating. From there we went to New York City and have never left each other’s sides.

When Matt proposed on our first trip together to California, I immediately started thinking about the church that I had fallen in love with. For our wedding day, we both knew that family and friends would be the most integral piece. I’m the oldest of six and Matt is one of three so our families are a major constant in our relationship. I grew up going to the Hamptons every summer and knew that I wanted to incorporate our summer home in Quogue into the weekend celebration. With Quogue as our weekend start point, we finalized plans for the ceremony at St. Luke’s Episcopal and the reception at The Maidstone Club, both in East Hampton, NY.

The inspiration for our wedding was found in the setting itself. Getting ready in my home incorporated family in every way. The warm colors and environment of the church combined with the scale of The Maidstone was a reminder of the intimacy we wanted our guests to feel while in an elegant setting. We incorporated a lot of white combined with silver and greys to capture the muted tones of the beach in Fall. Then of course, we had some splashes of purple as a nod to our college colors.

Small details like our guestbook of Hamptons scenery and the comfort food at the after-party we hoped would impart the love and care that we had put into planning this weekend. Jill Gordon Celebrate was with us every step of the way. With Jill’s guidance and advice, and of course coordination considering we were coming from all over the island, we were able to have the wedding of our dreams.
