Rustic Glamour In The Rocky Mountains

I can’t think of a more elegant way for two worlds to collide than a black-tie event in the rocky mountains. I can see it now: hiking the sinewy trails in a beautiful Jenny Packham gown. Perfection! But we expect nothing less when Leslie Lukas Weddings & Events has a hand it in. And thanks to Lauren Brown Photography’s handiwork, there’s a gallery full of drop-dead-gorgeous details for the reveling.

From Leslie Lukas Weddings & EventsBig Sky goes city glamour. Barbra and Dave could not have been any sweeter to work with. Every step of the way validated why we plan and designs weddings. From concept to completion we took them through the process, taking into account they wanted to blend city chic with rustic influences from the rocky mountains–which were evident in the stunning backdrop. A black-tie affair, the blending of city chic with rustic Montana was achieved through elegant fresh florals, a classic car by Gerrard Classic Auto Collection, an incredible wedding gown by Jenny Packam, and tons of details that brought the two styles together. Rustic elegance at its finest. Barbra’s father owns a men’s store in Butte, Montana- Wein’s Men’s Store, where they got their sharp tuxes from.

Montanta Mountain Destination Wedding

Living in a city can sometimes make a girl crave those wide open spaces. The mountains, the fresh air, and those rugged landscapes for as far as the eye can see. But lucky for me – and all you fellow city dwellers – we’re getting one such (virtual) escape via this Montana affair set at Moonlight Basin Resort. Snapped by the amazing Cluney Photo, it’s a gallery of natural beauty you don’t want to miss.

From the Bride… We wanted our wedding above all to be a celebration with all of the wonderful friends and family who traveled so far to be with us. And the wedding was nothing if not an expression of those with us. My bridesmaids made bouquets and set up escort cards, friends arranged our flowers and set up our places, Dan’s grandfather played jazz at our cocktail hour and his aunt made a wedding cake. My father gave me away, and the priest who baptized me flew out to perform our ceremony. And after a beautiful and touching ceremony, we danced the night away to the terrible pop music which is a favorite of both my husband and I.

Dan and I were astounded by the wonderful vendors of our wedding. Ladyfinger Letterpress created our invitation which became the symbol of our wedding. Avant Florists gave me the most beautiful bouquet I could imagine with absolutely no guidance. Elle’s Belles made the most beautiful dessert table we have ever seen (or tasted.) Cluney Photography humbled us with such beautiful photos. When planning a distance from across the country, I could not have hoped for most wonderful vendors.

Big Sky Engagement Session from Buffy Dekmar Photography

I can tell you first hand that Montana is spectacular place…. but pair the breathtaking scenery with an adorable couple and you have a recipe for serious swooning. These high school sweethearts (double swoon) had a little fun in the sun and snow for their e-session and the result is so good we almost don’t mind if winter lingers a bit longer. Their laughter and sweet kisses are made even more heart melting by the absolutely gorgeous images of Buffy Dekmar. It’s Big Sky beautiful and you can see even more right here in the gallery.

From Buffy Dekmar… This set of photos comes from a sweet engagement session in Big Sky, Montana, in January. Duncan and Tyler are high school sweethearts and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding later this year. I especially love the tones in this set–the warmth of their outfits against the evergreens and the snow.

Montana Wedding from Social Hour Events

By now you probably know that I am the world’s biggest fan of Montana and having grown up in the Big Sky State, I happen to think it’s the prettiest place EVER to hold a wedding.  Yes, I may be just a tad bit biased, but I think this breathtaking 320 Guest Ranch affair proves my point whole-heartedly.  A visual stunner crafted by Social Hour Events, it’s clear blue skies, acres upon acres of majestic mountains and a rustic meets sophisticated vibe that is crazy gorgeous.  Cluney Photo snapped up every beautiful moment and let me be the first to say – Montana never looked so good.  Click here for more.

From Social Hour Events It was important to the bride and broom to have their wedding location be somewhere that all of their guests could stay together and enjoy more than just the actual wedding event.  They chose the 320 Guest Ranch in Big Sky, Montana, because of its proximity to Yellowstone Nationa Park and the gorgeous setting it would allow them to enjoy. The couple went on their first date in a national park and got engaged in a national park, and so they naturally wanted their wedding to take place at the gates of a national park! Their love of nature really came through in their event design, which the bride describes as “elegant rustic.” We worked hard to make the elegance shine through without covering up the fact that we were on a horse ranch in the mountains. The whole weekend felt very personal and intimate. Guests arrived Thursday evening and were invited to a home cooked meal at the bride’s mother’s cabin. Friday night, there was a pig roast, complete with bonfire and s’mores. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s aunt, then was followed by a parade led by the bride, groom and the Last Chance Dixieland Band, which escorted everybody to cocktail hour. The vintage plates were all from the personal collection of the bride’s mother (she drove them from Spokane!). The tables were labeled with vintage postcards from national parks around the country, and almost every element, from the invitations and the photo booth, to the golden horse shoe escort card holders and the cake were DIY projects that the bride and her family took on with our help.
