Traditional Worcester Wedding with a Modern Twist

I love a Bride with a vision. One that weaves beautiful details throughout her big day to really tell a story that reflects their style as a couple. This is just such a Bride. As she describes it, her wedding to her handsome beau was traditional with a twist, but we just call it fabulous. See all the gorgeous images from Douglas Levy Photography right here.

From the Bride…Although we didn’t officially start dating until November 2010, Ryan and I actually had our first date in August 2010 not far from the spot where we were married! One of my dearest friends from growing up in Worcester, Massachusetts and one of Ryan’s friends from Assumption College, also in Worcester, had tried to set us up for years. Neither one of us was really into the idea of a “set up”, but one night we happen to run into each other and the rest is history! With so many Worcester connections, the choice for our wedding locale was obvious! It’s the place where we had our first date and where we bought our first home.

Because I’m a designer, a perfectly styled (no detail too small!) wedding was important to me. But a wedding that was fun and where our friends and family could really cut loose was important to both of us. Being in the wedding industry, I’m exposed to beautiful images all day long, but it was my favorite pair of rose gold Steven Madden sequins ballet flats that became my inspiration for the day!

Much like a lot of my work, our theme became “traditional with a twist”. Classic with a fresh and modern flair—like my sequins shoes! We wanted the day to have a light and airy feel: romantic flowers, flowing blush bridesmaids dresses and pops of gold to liven things up. From the gold ribbon on the groomsmen’s boutonnieres that gave a nod to our gold foiled invitations to the perfectly pale pink garden roses in our arrangements to match the pink of the bridesmaids’ dresses – even the smallest detail played an important role.

All of those small details and how amazingly perfect the weather was and how completely and utterly accommodating the staff at Cyprian Keyes helped to shape an absolutely perfect wedding day for me and Ryan. The day was exactly as we had envisioned it: surrounded by our closest family and friends, in the city that is now our home and where we will start our lives together. Lot of love, lots of laughter, a true celebration of what’s to come!

Rainy Day Wedding at Church Landing from Deborah Zoe Photography

The first word that popped into my mind when looking at this beauty of a Bride was – timeless. She has this gorgeous, classic look about her that will easily stand the test of time, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that her wedding followed suit. Captured beautifully by Deborah Zoe, even a little rain didn’t spoil this gorgeous day, if anything it made it just that much more intimate. See it all here.

From Deborah ZoeDiana and Jon fell in love with Church Landing and knew it was the perfect place to say “I Do.” It rained, no poured, on their wedding day almost canceling their dream outdoor ceremony. But despite how much water soaked into the ground, Jon and Diana couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. They were surrounded by close family and friends and partied the night away. Rain certainly couldn’t put a damper on their infectious joy!

Botanic Garden Wedding from Wildflower Photography

If you love blooms like we do (and I have a sneaking suspicion you are equally obsessed), then you’ll need to favorite this next fête for sure. It’s feast of gorgeous florals from Bostonian Florist surrounding a love-filled wedding at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden which we get to enjoy thanks to Wildflower Photography. Long story short, it’s image after image of gorgeous – and it can all be found right here.

From Wildflower Photography… Jessie and Chris had a lovely rustic wedding at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA, and despite a few raindrops, this couple took the weather with stride! Their ceremony was held in the light-filled Limonaia building, and with an arched glass ceiling, it had us wishing that every indoor ceremony we photographed looked as magical as this one! These two really personalized their ceremony, with hand-written vows and passages by Kahlil Gibran and the Velveteen Rabbit, it was such a true representation of Jessie and Chris.

From the Bride… For me, the best part of our wedding was a tie between reading our very personal, sightly humorous handwritten vows to each other, and the reception… which was basically one giant party! One of my favorite reception moments was when two of our friends serenaded us with a special wedding day song that they had written together. It was hilarious and a total surprise! My advice to couples in the midst of wedding-planning is that throughout the wedding ceremony and reception, make sure to take a moment here and there to pull each other aside and soak up the moment. The wedding day goes by SO quickly… it’s really nice to take a moment to say, ‘Wow’, and realize what an awesome day it is!
