Whimsical

From Bethany And Dan PhotographyWe adore these two human beings. I swear from the moment they walked into the Waban Starbucks to meet with us we loved them. After spending an evening with them for their engagement session we were counting down the days till the wedding day, right along with them. We were SO excited to be their wedding photographers and we were absolutely not wrong in our anticipation of the wedding’s fabulousness. It was incredible. Besides all the gorgeous details, fabulous location, stunning bridal party, classy everything(!), this wedding was 100% focused and the right thing: L-O-V-E! Kelsey and Chad are crazy about each other. It is infectious and every single person at this wedding was SO happy they were getting married. It was a palpable the whole time we were there.

A few of my favorite moments of the day: The first look complete with private tear jerking vows. The way Chad looked at Kelsey all. day. long. Kelsey’s sister’s toast… if there is a perfect sister version of a toast, it was this one. There was not a dry eye in the tent. I wish I could bottle that love up and take it around with me everywhere. During the sunset photos were were out on the beach right in front of the tent. I think every person at the wedding made their way to the edge of the tent and watched. It was so cute! We would turn around and look between shots and everyone would wave! Their friend Brendan took a table cloth off one of the tables and made it into a jump rope during the reception. ’nuff said.

Romantic Fall Kennebunkport Wedding

I knew I’d be a fan of this wedding as soon as I saw that it took place in Kennebunkport. But then I saw all the pups, the little ones, this lovely Bride and these sort of views (thanks to the gorgeous location of the Bush family’s – as in the two past presidents – private estate) and I’m head over heels. See all these stunning pics by Stephanie A Smith in this glowing gallery here.

From Stephanie A SmithNothing beats a gorgeous coastal wedding with a beautiful bride and groom, many friends and family members and LOTS of puppies. At least not in my book. But add to that two former presidents and one governor of the United States of America, a 29-piece band, and a tented reception for close to 300 people and you have yourself a priceless celebration.

Ellie and Nick were married on September 27th, 2014. I loved Ellie’s vision for her day. It was soft, romantic, and elegant. The blush and mint colored bridesmaids dresses matched perfectly with the beautiful peonies bouquets from Fleurant. The old woody and retro trolley that transported guests to and from venues added to the charm of the coastal engagement. No stone was left unturned as the wooden farm tables were adorned with a mix match of florals and glass pieces. The Bride and Groom signs and city signs were created by a local artist tying into the Kennebunk charm.

Some of my favorite memories from the day included colorful striped socks worn by the groom and his groomsmen as a nod to President Bush Sr (he loves to sport fun footwear). I also loved seeing dogs run around on the property all night. This included the Bush Sr’s two pups as well as Ellie’s two loves, Tess and Rocky. It truly was a gorgeous affair that I feel honored to be a part of.

Intimate Kennebunkport Wedding

A few years back, I attended a sweet seaside wedding in Kennebunkport and fell absolutely in love with the locale. It’s charming and oh-so-cozy. So when this stunner from Arielle Doneson came across my desk? I couldn’t wait to click through the gallery. Opposite of the sea, this forest fete at Earth at Hidden Pond was a perfect fit for these two foodies. Packed with beautifully artisanal treats, adorable DIYs and lots of smiles, you can see more right here.

From Arielle DonesonNestled among the blooming lupins and birch trees of Kennebunkport, ME, is the award winning resort, Hidden Pond. Home to farm to table restaurant, Earth, with James Beard award-winning chef, Ken Oringer at the helm producing artisanal food that is as beautiful as it is tasty. For architects Juliet and Jared who are also studied foodies, it was the perfect setting for their intimate nuptials.

Joined by their closest family and friends, Juliet and Jared’s wedding had the feel of going to a friend’s Summer home for a spectacular evening complete with assorted succulent centerpieces that they grew themselves, fragrant peony bouquets and the wild beauty of Earth’s on site garden. Being creatives, Juliet and Jared’s wedding was complete with DIY designed stationery suite, wildflower seed packets, and other touches that felt completely at home among the rustic reclaimed wood, stone, and exposed beams of Earth’s interior. After a truly memorable meal of local delicacies (including lobster, of course!) the evening progressed to dancing and drinking under the stars, between the tiki torches and fire pit on the grounds. A truly Maine celebration if ever there was one!

Sweet Kennebunkport, Maine Wedding

With Chicago and New York City as their initial front runners for this couples’ perfect place to say I do, who knew that sweet little Kennebunkport would win the race. But I am oh-so-glad that it did for this duo, because the result was just lovely. Lucky for all of us, we get to eat up every sweet-as-they-come image from Indigo Foto of this darling day, and you can do just that right here.

From the Bride…When Bobby and I first met, there were immediate fireworks. It was July 3rd and all around us neighborhood block parties were gearing up for Independence Day. We were seeing stars – literally. And just like how fireworks are dazzling, intense, puzzling and magnificent, so was the experience of falling in love.

That chance meeting led to a 5-year relationship and a wedding to save and plan for. Initially we thought we would have the wedding either in Chicago, where we lived, or in NYC where I was born and raised. Finding a venue proved to be challenging in both locales. We were exhausted from looking – in NYC we looked at 11 venues in just one weekend visit!

As chance would have it, our epic NYC venue hunt was followed directly by our vacation to Kennebunkport, Maine.

For several years my family have been going to Hidden Pond. There is simply so much to love there. The setting is extraordinary with an amazing sense of beauty and serenity. It holds a special place in our hearts and every summer we look forward to our time in Maine as a getaway from the hustle and bustle of our Chicago/NYC lives.

Once we arrived, the wheels started spinning. Could we possibly, maybe have our wedding here? The chance to share this place with others thrilled us. A Down East Lobster Bake menu to boot? Absolutely.

Our family and closest friends traveled from far and wide – Hawaii, Hong Kong, Poland and the Midwest. We felt so loved and happy. From the string trio playing contemporary selections such as Postal Service and Arcade Fire to the welcome letters that Bobby designed, to the succulents in my bouquet that now sit replanted on my windowsill, every moment of our wedding was a dream realized.

Relaxed Laudholm Farm Wedding

This Maine wedding from David Murray Weddings is the new authority on relaxed barn weddings. It’s pretty much written the book on the topic. The bride was behind so much of the decor and you really can feel her love coming through every detail, which is the recipe for my favorite kind of wedding.

Barn

From the beautiful bride… The bones of the barn were so classic and lovely; it was the perfect backdrop and I knew that the right lighting and colors would make the space glow and feel cozy. It was a blank canvas—my challenge to “dress” the barn up and fit all our guests in there comfortably, but I knew that it could be done and it would be beautiful.

I wanted the vibe of the wedding to be elegant and romantic, soft and pretty. I also wanted to make sure we honored the rustic location, while incorporating touches of the Maine coast in our food selections and decor. But most of all I wanted the guests to be relaxed and to have a blast (the long banquet seating down the center of the barn helped with accomplishing the “family” feel i wanted), and tons of dancing and celebrating all night long!

Because I was very under the weather on our wedding day, I really wanted to see Steve prior to the ceremony, but I was determined to hold off as we had planned. My favorite moment was when I finally got to see him at the end of the aisle. Just seeing his smile and standing beside him, I instantly felt relief and comfort, and knew that I was marrying someone who would take care of me forever.
