Glenview Wedding at Valley Lo Club from Kina Wicks Photography

Lovely as all get out, this Valley Lo Club wedding by Kina Wicks Photography is practically perfection from start to finish. From the blue shoes for both Bride and Groom, to the energetic color palette, and everything in between – it goes without saying, this gallery is one fabulous place to be today. See why here.

From Kina WicksBrittany and Trevor’s love is reflected in everything they did on their wedding. Everything from Brittany and Trevor’s fun, yet tasteful colors of sunny yellow and crisp navy blue, to the fun choice of shoes, they made it a point to let their personalities shine on their day. Both together and apart, Brittany and Trevor are funny, sweet, and basically the life of the party. But, they were able to find calm and serenity in the venues they chose, specifically in the Valley Lo Club in Glenview, Illinois. The Valley Lo Club sits on a beautiful lake that allowed Brittany and Trevor to take a moment to breathe and embrace each other amidst bridal party laughter and awesome music. It should also be noted that laughter was a huge part of this day! Their good sense of humor and fun personalities shined through the groomsmen’s socks and the bride’s sparkly Kate Spade shoes. At the end of the day, the sun set on a wedding that left everyone, especially Brittany & Trevor, smiling from ear to ear.

French Country Wedding at Redfield Estates from Cristina G Photography

Rustic Romance meets French Country in this magical affair, and the result? Breathtaking. One look at the images from Cristina G Photography and you feel like your are taking a peek at your fairytale come to life – yet you know it’s a real life love story. A love story that gets to start is next chapter after this stunning al fresco affair, and I think that is one fabulous way to turn that page. See it all here.

From the bride… I have always wanted to have an outdoor wedding. We started looking at historic homes in the area and found Redfield Estate. It was love at first sight. The rustic romantic style of the venue was the perfect background for a French Country inspired soiree.

The farm table and chairs we chose for the head table pulled the whole look together. White linens and table napkins were used for all round tables while a burlap and lace table runner adorned the rustic head table. Coral and white peonies, peach garden roses and little spray roses, plus a variety of light pink, peach and white colored flowers were placed in vintage vases, milk glass and blue mason jars and grouped together as centerpieces for all guest tables. The bridesmaids and bridal bouquet were reused to decorate the head table and placed in short mercury glass vases.

For the cards I bought a vintage luggage set on etsy after seeing a similar idea on Pinterest. Our guest book was a beautiful white tree in a sage green matte and white frame where little paper leaves had to be placed on it by guests that attended our big day. The vanity is one of my favorite pieces. I have actually had it for about 6 years, it was purchased from an antique store in Deland, Florida when I was in college and I’ve moved it around with me ever since. I had it refinished for the wedding by Julie at Casa Couture Furniture in Roscoe Village.

All the paper goods (invitations, programs, favor labels, cocktail napkins, place cards, table numbers, menus and hand painted signs) were created by the wonderful Catherine Fitzpatrick of The Charm Studio. Our late evening snack surprise was a gelato cart from Frost.

Last, but not least, once my mom heard the weather was going to be cool the night of my wedding, she started running around to look for pashminas to keep everyone warm. She had some overnighted from Amazon and went to several stores at Old Orchard the day before the wedding!

One of everyone’s favorite little details from the wedding was the cocktail napkin. It was a copy of the napkin Doug wrote his number on the night we met. We had met in January 2007 at Sunshine Lanes in Deland, Florida. My best friend, Brittany, and I were meeting up with our friend, Brandon, who just happened to bring along his buddy, Doug. As soon as I saw Doug, I knew he was the one. We all started bowling together, but Doug and I ended up in our own little world granny bowling and laughing the night away. At the end of the night, I can remember telling Brittany that I was going to marry Doug someday, so it was only natural that I would keep that napkin as a keepsake of the day we met.

From the Bride… From the moment Matt and I got engaged in November of 2011, I dove head first into wedding planning! Having dated for 8 years, I had been looking forward to the time where I got to plan our own wedding, and we truly enjoyed each minute of it. I was incredibly lucky that my mom enjoyed wedding planning as much as I did, as she tackled each and every task with me. Matt and I knew we wanted a classic and chic wedding, with cheerful color, so we decided to go with black, white, silver and yellow as our wedding color palette. We also wanted to make sure that each of our personalities shined through the little details throughout the day, so we really tried to pay special attention to each aspect of the wedding to really make it as personal as possible.

I contacted an artist on Etsy to design a custom map for the wedding, which we in turn had transferred to canvas tote bags to be the base of our hotel welcome bags for guests. We filled each welcome bag with some of our favorite things (a bottle of wine, a candle, lotto tickets, etc.) so each guest started the wedding weekend with a special treat and got to enjoy some of our favorite things. We also both went to the University of Dayton, so had our school letters as the groom cake. We had two signature drinks – his and hers, and had each of our favorite cocktails with a fun little spin on it!

Since most of our guests were from out of town, we hosted a late-night party after the reception ended in the bowling alley at the club. We had bowling, Chicago-style hot dogs, beer, and music for our guests to enjoy until the wee-hours of the night!

One of our favorite moments of the evening was when our bridal party surprised us by starting off the dancing! A couple of the groomsmen had talked to the DJ to play a song when the dancing was about to start and call the bridal party out to the dance floor. Matt and I had no idea what was happening and before we knew it all the bridesmaids and groomsmen were busting out their best dance moves! It was hilarious and a great way to kick off an evening of dancing.

My one piece of advice that I would pass down to any bride is to make sure you and your groom stay by each other all night! Matt and I knew we wanted to spend the night by each other’s side, and made a conscious effort to do so! It easy to get pulled in different directions, but the night is about celebrating the two of you together, so be sure to enjoy each moment together as husband and wife!
