St. Simons Island Engagement Session from Sarah DeShaw Photography

This couple is adorable.  And not just because they happen to be college sweethearts with one of the cutest proposal stories you’ll ever read (seriously).  No, they also happen to be a duo that just glows with happiness.  A stunning couple who just can’t stop smiling, can’t stop hugging and can’t stop laughing with an energy that will brighten your entire Thursday.  See their entire e-session captured by Sarah DeShaw right here in the full gallery.

From the Bride… James and I are fortunate enough to have met our freshman year of college. We remained friends until love struck and we started dating our senior year. New Year’s Eve 2012, we decided just the two of us would spend New Year’s Eve together. After a rainy day of hiking the trails along the Guadalupe River, we got dressed up for a “fancy” Tex-Mex dinner at the local spot. We bought fireworks from a stand on the way back to the cabin. After shooting them all, James said he had one more surprise firework in the car. When he came back, he had a little box instead and got down on one knee! The whole night was filled with the sound of fireworks in the distance and champagne in our glasses. We ended up dancing the night away at a local New Year’s Eve dance and having the best time!

James has grown up vacationing in St. Simons and we knew this would be a meaningful place to take some wonderful shots. Sarah DeShaw Photography could not have been a better fit for us. We were able to take photos at Lovely Lane Chapel, Avenue of the Oaks, and conclude with sunset on East Beach. We had so much fun and made sure to incorporate our NYE engagement with a champagne toast on the beach. We can’t wait for the big day this April!

St. Simons, Georgia Wedding from LeeAnn Ritch Photography

I’m a true believer that a little dusting of rain makes any wedding day just that much better.  A bit more dreamy, a bit more cozy and a bit more romantic.  Not that these two St. Simons sweeties need any help in the romance department, because after literally growing up together (they met at the age of 10) and spending their teens and early 20’s as “just friends,” they realized that the “comfort” they had always felt with one another was more than that… it was true love, instead.  And to celebrate their meant-to-be? Well, they enlisted the help of Darryl Wiseman Flowers, EastCoast Entertainment and LeeAnn Ritch Photography, a team sure to take any dreams and turn them into reality.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Nick and I met at the age of 10 when our families moved into the same neighborhood. Through middle school and high school we had the same group of friends, but it wasn’t until our best friends started dating each other that were we “forced” to be together more. Though we went to different colleges (I attended Ole Miss and he attended LSU), we remained friends and saw each other every summer when we would come home from school.

It wasn’t until after college, once I had moved to New York to start a career, did Nick and I started looking at each other as more than friends. It was a very natural progression, made slowly over time, as we were in different cities. There was something comforting and very natural about falling in love with an old friend. After three years in the Big Apple, I returned to Georgia, our hometown, to be back with my friends, family… and Nick. Our families blended immediately – made easier by the fact our parents were already friends within the community. It just fit.

On the day of our wedding, we had 14 of our best friends standing next to us – 12 of whom had attended school with us both since the age of 10. Needless to say, it was impossible to have a “bride” or “groom” side at the church, as many of our guests had known us both since grade school. It seems weird to say ‘I have already know my husband for 19 years,’ and still feel so young. Looking back, there was always a comfort I felt around Nick – even as a child, before I understood what it meant, I knew somehow that we would end up together.

St. Simons Island Wedding from Kelli Boyd Photography

These college sweethearts kept their St. Simon’s wedding understated and simple to showcase the beautiful details of their church and reception venue, the Frederica Boat House, both of which were designed by the bride’s architect cousin! Beautiful white and green hydrangeas from Vine Garden Market accented the natural elements and it was all captured by Kelli Boyd Photography. See the rest of this beauty right here!

From Kelli Boyd PhotographyLeigh Ann and Tommy met in college through mutual friends attending Auburn University. They attended a formal together, and they have not been apart since. With both of them having strong roots in St Simons Island, Georgia, they could not think of a better place to get married. They chose Wesley Methodist Church for the ceremony and the Frederica Boat House for their reception because the bride’s cousin, Keith Summerour, an architect, designed both buildings and that the groom’s grandfather helped get Wesley started years ago. They wanted the decor to be simple to show off the beauty of the buildings.
