Vintage Inspired Winter Park Wedding

Hands down, this darling duo is one of the coolest couples you will ever virtually meet.  I mean, they have a pet pig. His name is Mr. Hamilton Banks and, well… that’s awesome.  Then they threw one seriously gorgeous wedding, which happened to include a mashed potato bar, crazy cool chalkboard signs from the Chalk Shop and a one smile-filled moment after another captured by Ben Sasso.  See it all here.

And a super sweet film from White In Revery for even more lovely…

Garden Venue

From the Bride… David and I have been together since 2009. He asked me to marry him with a clever geocache he had a friend help him set up in Savannah, GA. I hunted all over for the cache while he photographed. Once I finally found it, inside was a little handwritten note that said “Katie, will you marry me?”  For a moment I was convinced I had found some other lucky girl’s proposal – but then David took a knee and I was instantly in tears.

I had never dreamed of my wedding day when I was a little girl, so when David asked me to marry him in October 2012, I quickly realized what a task it would be to plan. I planned the entire wedding weekend myself – from the rehearsal to the reception.  It was a lot of fun to spend a year hunting for all the little perfect details and made the wedding feel even more personal, as silly as that sounds. We also DIY’d quite a few of the larger projects, it was fun to work with David to create a wedding that would truly be unique.

David and I are both Florida natives and wanted something that matched both of us in that regard. We decided to do a vintage Florida styled wedding and were so excited with all of the fun details we could incorporate. Our dance floor had a small orange tree at each corner, our guestbook was vintage Florida postcards in an old lazy susan postcard holder – and on that table we displayed photos which were hung on twine inside a frame David built with vintage farm wood. We bought old doors which David crafted to stand upright and I cut strips of ribbon to hang between them. Our colors were an array of sherbert orange, coral, and peaches, and the bridesmaids all picked their own dresses which fit their style, yet melded together perfectly.

My stepfather, who has been in my life since I was 13, and my dad both walked me down the aisle. From the ceremony to reception location we were transported in a vintage Model A with a driver who had the kindest heart.

Guests played corn hole during cocktail hour with boards we painted to fit our color theme. We handed out bags of boiled peanuts, regular and cajun style, and oranges as favors; David created the stamp that we used to hold the peanuts. We served Shrimp and Grits, had a mashed potato bar, and apple cobbler to accompany the Cinnamon Swirl Jack Daniels cake. Speaking of cake, I secretly hid a small black pig to surprise David, modeled after our own adorable pet pig, Mr. Hamilton Banks.

The orange trees and gorgeous flowers in our venue set in front of the brick and barn door walls really brought the entire event together. Our wedding was in December, but since it’s Florida, it was a breezy 85 degrees and our wedding brought the Spring comfortably into winter.

I couldn’t have asked for better vendors or a more beautiful day to have our wedding, nor a more perfect way to start a marriage.

Glitter and Blush Winter Park Wedding at Casa Feliz

We adore Amalie Orrange around these parts, but when she sends us a wedding this pretty, we want to reach through the screen and give her a big fat kiss. Because it’s not everyday that we see a wedding so completely perfect we want to cry. It’s filled to the brim with all the things that make our hearts sing, and you can see it all here.

From Amalie Orrange PhotographyEric and Elena are the sweetest couple, and had the most gorgeous wedding filled with blush, glitter and little Spanish touches everywhere to accent the beautiful Casa Feliz. We met them a few months back and new straight away we were going to love working with this fun couple! Elena with her cute little laugh and Eric with his sweet charm that makes Elena smile from ear to ear.

Erica and Elena met on a co-ed indoor soccer league through mutual friends. Who would have know that the cute girl that Eric played soccer with would turn out to be his wife.

From The Bride…What attracted me to Eric? Personality for sure! He makes me snort, which is my tell all. If you can’t get a snort out of me, then you’re really not that funny.

Eric propsed at an Orlando Magic vs Miami Heat Game. It was so awesome and completely unexpected, which why it probably got the national attention it did. Watch it here :

I wanted my wedding to feel very romantic and feminine, while also having some fun little touches and so I went from there. Becky my amazeballs planner helped me bring my vision to life!

My touch of turquoise everywhere was my favorite design element. It’s my favorite color and I wanted to incorporate it somehow.

I have tons of DIY details! Our table numbers, chalkboards, and bling wrap for chairs. Also, I’m a graphic designer, so I designed all my wedding stationary and menus for our place settings.

The most memorable moment of my wedding day was seeing everything come together. It blew by, but having a moment to walk around with Eric and appreciate everything that we worked towards was awesome. I can honestly say I remember every detail. I especially loved how we set up cocktail hour with the market lighting going from the fountain in the front to the tent.

They say that your wedding day marks the beginning of some seriously fun adventures, and for this darling Winter Park duo, that statement couldn’t be more true.  Because this pretty party wasn’t just the beginning of a brand new life together, it was the kick-off to an year-long trip around the world… a going-away extravaganza, if you will.  On hand to make sure the day was a crazy awesome success?  The oh-so-talented Atmosphere Floral & DecorElle Cinder Designs and Rachel V Photography, standing side by side with these gorgeous sweeties and filling our gallery with pretty.  Join me there ASAP.

From Rachel V PhotographyThis day was truly magical, the moment I met with Kristina and Josh I could tell we had an instant connection. I am a world traveler and seeing this young couple about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime made me so happy. Kristina and I talked throughout the process and when her wedding day came, it was all she ever described. Not only did this day have so many details that spoke of their journey to come, it was full of sentimental details. My favorite detail was the handwritten notes the bride and groom wrote to one another. I was one of the only people that got to see both of their reactions as they read the letters. For the man that married them, they had cufflinks with the nautical locations of the place he married his wife. To their flower girl, they gave a handkerchief that read “To use as your ‘something old’ on your special day, Thank you for being our flower girl. Love Kristina & Josh.”  How sweet is that? This couple has set out on an adventure as husband and wife, I wish them an amazing first year!

From Michelle Cinder of Elle Cinder DesignsKristina and Joshua wed on June 15th, 2013 at the historic Casa Feliz in Winter Park, Florida. As many brides and grooms seem to end a journey with their wedding, Kristina and Josh were just beginning! Their wedding was the starting point of their life-changing journey of traveling the world and exploring what life has to offer! This brave and beautiful couple celebrated the start of this amazing trip with a wedding their guests are sure to never forget!

Pretty pinks and preppy blues were highlighted throughout this theme of preppy travel which clearly defined the new Mr. and Mrs. As guests arrived they were greeted with vintage fans adorned with pink script and a touch of lace to keep cool during the summer nuptials. The bridesmaids looked amazing in their girlie pink chiffon cocktail dresses and the guys stayed true to the preppy theme with brown loafers, striped ties and pink pocket squares.

Kristina embodied classic elegance unlike any other. Her style was that of grace and beauty with her hair pulled back and vintage drop earrings. She was stunning in her Nicole Miller gown accented by her Badgley Mischka blush colored heels. For a sweet and sentimental something blue, Kristina’s new monogram was sewn, along with her wedding date, in a blue script on the inside of her dress. A true bridal beauty, Kristina was breathtaking.

Post-cards addressed with love notes to each and every guest showed the appreciation Kristina and Joshua have for their friends and families. Personalized thank you handkerchiefs were given to the bride and groom’s mentor family, who were also a part of the wedding ceremony. A unique world map was used as the guest book and vintage luggage as the card box.

The decor was perfect with touches of pinks and blues throughout this historic venue. The travel theme was present in the reception centerpieces with antique novels from various countries, set with lush low floral arrangements and hints of candlelight. Everywhere you turned there was another spectacular detail that had guests in awe! This wedding was the most amazing send-off this bride and groom could have ever asked for. Their guests were blown away with the attention to detail and care the bride and groom put into making this wedding perfect! The love Joshua and Kristina have for one another and their friends and families was so apparent. There wasn’t a dry eye during the first dance, watching this happy couple so in love is a moment no one could forget.
