From start to finish, this wedding is all about heartwarming moments.  Happy, tear-inducing, magical moments between a beautiful bride and her dapper groom, as well as her loving friends and family (see the seriously epic Father-Daughter First Look below).  It’s also a tale of sweet southern elegance, with the planning experts at Desiree Dawn Events making sure every moment went off without a hitch, including the drop-dead gorgeous reception complete with yummy BBQ.  See it all captured by Jillian Tree right here.

From Desiree Dawn Events… Britnye and Philip wanted a romantically sweet celebration for their wedding and they got just that. It was important to Britnye to have a candlelit ceremony so we had candles in jars down the aisle, lining the small stage, and string lights added to the warmth from up above. She collected gardenia candles and lots of vintage jars to use as decor along with antique lace and jute details. A favorite memory from their special day was the bride’s first look with her father followed by an even sweeter first look with her soon-to-be husband. They both wanted time to pray together before their vows, but Philip still wanted his first time seeing his bride to be while she was walking down the aisle. Their solution was to blindfold the groom and let them hug and hold hands for a bit. So sweet! They served delicious family style BBQ and cupcakes to their guests, enjoyed some dancing, then drove off in Philip’s grandfather’s sports car!

From the Bride… Ever since that first trip to Key West, it has held a special place in our hearts and relationship. On Saint Patrick’s Day weekend of 2012, Jonathan suggested we take a surprise trip. As we passed through Miami, I had quickly guessed we were heading to Key West, but I didn’t realize that was only part of the surprise. We arrived at the bed and breakfast where we always stay, and Jonathan led me around the pool to a secluded courtyard and garden towards the back of the property. I was completely surprised and elated when he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

Planning our wedding and pouring over all its details brought me a special kind of joy. We decided that our wedding should take place in January because it is a cooler month for Florida with little chance of rain. We chose Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in West Palm Beach as our ceremony location. It is a beautiful, classic church with magnificent stained glass windows. From the first time I went there as a little girl, I had pictured myself walking down that aisle to be married. In keeping with our classic wedding theme, we decided to have our reception on Palm Beach at the Colony Hotel. It is a quaint boutique hotel built in the 1940’s that simply exudes character. It is just blocks away from the beach and was the perfect setting for the most amazing party of our lives.

The day couldn’t have been more wonderful. It was a perfect day in South Florida, the temperature was in the seventies and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. All of our planning and attention to detail paid off exactly how we wanted. We incorporated my Caribbean heritage with colorful tropical floral centerpieces and a steel drummer during the cocktail hour. The romantic and warm feel of the dinner reception began in the foyer with a large floral arrangement and photos of our parents on their wedding days. The entire experience was very relaxed and ran very smoothly without any kind of hiccup. What else could a bride want? We had the wedding of our dreams and I got to marry the love of my life!

South Florida Wedding at Flamingo Gardens from Shea Christine Photography

There are Brides with style and then there is this lovely Bride. She’s in a league of her own. How, you ask? Well not only did see DIY all the pretty little details waiting for you right here, but she also crafted each and every one of those fabulous headpieces the lucky ladies in her life got to wear. And we can’t thank her enough, because from the looks of the images from Shea Christine Photography – everything turned out simply perfect. See it all here.

From Shea Christine PhotographySmall gathering of family and friends near the gazebo. The weather was perfect and the light shining through the trees was beautiful. The wedding party consisted of a Maid of Honor (Sister of the Bride), Best Man (Grooms Best Friend) and Flower Girl (Brides Niece).

The ceremony was short but sweet. The guests joined the Bride and Groom at a separate location for the reception. Here they danced, celebrated and got their photos taken in the photo-booth. Many of the details were handcrafted by the Bride. Including the Brides, Maid of Honor and Flower Girl Head pieces. The invitations, program and thank you cards were created by the bride. All the guests took home a one of a kind, handmade ceramic tea-bowl created by the bride.

From Gerilyn Gianna Event & Floral DesignWhen Sarah and Louie first met, they had one thing in common: music. They met college in the music department of Florida Atlantic University. Sarah was a vocal and music performance major and Louie was a music management major. Louie would visit Sarah and her band from time to time at different clubs. As their friendship grew over time, Louie fell deeply in love with Sarah. Her voice inspired him, and her heart captured him. And so the engagement happened.

One of our great joys is staying in touch with clients from our past. A past client and friend of ours decided to give our planning services as a gift to Sarah and Louie for their wedding. And what a gift it was because little did anyone know the details that were to follow. When we first met with them, boy, were they ever a vibrant couple. They had visions of 1940’s lounges and singers. They also saw what was to be an a old Florida vintage look and venue. Small details were Sarah’s thing. Nothing could be uniform or the same. And it all started with her dress and veil. It almost seemed as though the entire wedding was designed from the dress. When we found the location, she instantly fell in love with its old Florida charm. Wood windows, wood beamed ceilings and that Henry Flagler look. She combined yellow and purple flowers with crystal centerpieces. At night time, the candles were lit in the crystal to provide a warm ambiance to the room.

As the ceremony started, Sarah’s little pug led the processional down the aisle with a flower and bow tie. With Sarah and Louie surrounded by their closest friends and family, Sarah pulled up in her limo with her bridesmaids right behind her. As she got out of the limo, she stunned the crowd, looking like she was ready to sing in front of hundreds. And with her beautiful voice, she could have. But this day was about all things Sarah. When Sarah emerged and the guests stood on their feet, she was a sight to see with her vintage dress and bouquet made from ranunculus, lisianthus, spray roses and hydrangea. Sarah’s father gave her away to Louie, and the rest of the night was history.

After the ceremony and cocktails, the guests headed to the main reception room to greet Sarah and Louie as newlywed couple. When they entered the room, their eyes lit up with joy from seeing so many of those who’ve loved and supported them. They were greeted with tall crystal centerpieces lit with candles on each table. Even the guests’ tables had so much little detail, down to the handmade place cards and table location. As the sun set, dinner, dancing and toasts seemed to give way to what was the wedding of their dreams.  As the night ended, everyone went downstairs to give Sarah and Louie a final farewell as they got into their limo and drove off to the start of their new lives together.
