Miami Destination Wedding from Shaun Menary + Pieces of Dreams

This beautiful bride right here?  She wore five inch suede heels on her Big Day.  Five inch suede heels in a gorgeous pink hue with a stunning Anne Barge gown from Lovely Bride that will sort of take your breath away.  In other words, she’s awesome… and her wedding to her dapper Mr.?  Just as amazing, with a whole host of pretty styled by Pieces of Dreams and one crazy beautiful moment after another captured by Shaun Menary.  See them all in the full gallery.

From Shaun Menary Photography… Scott and Samantha are so kind and quite possibly the most FUN couple we’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. I mean, you don’t do a destination wedding in South Beach unless you’re down for some serious celebrating! Scott and Sam are NYC residents who will take any excuse to head to the beach and knock back a couple of mojitos. So after seven years of dating, when the couple decided to make it official, they seized their opportunity for a beach bash wedding weekend, and with the help of designer Susan Jaffe of Pieces of Dreams, they put together one of the most beautiful and vivacious weddings we’ve ever witnessed!

It could have gone either way, given that it practically monsooned the morning of the wedding! We thought the nuptials would be moved indoors, but, almost serendipitously, the rain subsided just as we arrived, and the in-house coordinator and Susan Jaffe mustered up their magic and got the venue ready just in time!

Sam was absolutely s t u n n i n g in a lace Anne Barge gown, and that girl rocked some 5″ pink suede wedges. Scott was incredibly dapper in his custom suit from Custom Men.

Scott and Sam tied the knot in the Raleigh’s “Oasis” space, which is like a miniature Eden, with lush tropical greenery along the flanks, and the beach and ocean just beyond the tree line. Petal Productions erected a custom 10-ft. backdrop with an beautiful ombre floral design. Directly following the ceremony, the couple and their guests mingled during the cocktail hour. The reception took place in the Raleigh’s modernized art-deco ballroom, where the couple and their guests danced, drank and dined.

Once the sun set and the drinks really started flowing, the party animals came out! Pieces of Dreams and the Raleigh arranged an after-party in the hotel’s penthouse, so while the ballroom closed and the couple took a break, the Raleigh staff moved the party upstairs, where there was a bar, dessert table and a DJ. Those who wanted a tamer experience could enjoy their drinks on the rooftop lounge area overlooking the ocean.

So Sam, Scott and all their guests spent the entire day against the striking backdrop of the Raleigh’s art-deco brilliance and the sweeping sights and sounds of the ocean just yards away… not too shabby! We had so much fun being part of the Stringfellow wedding weekend, and we wish the happy couple all the best!

P.S. What’s up with those axes, you ask? They’re only the most awesome groom’s gifts we’ve ever seen. Scott went to Best Made Co. and had axes customized with paint jobs in each groomsman’s heritage. So neat!

It must be something in the sand, because nothing really compares to the soirees that come out of that sun-filled city. From Rebekah of Kallima PhotographyAmanda + Willy are a gorgeous, down to earth, lively couple who got married on January 7th at the W Hotel South Beach. Both living and working in Washington D.C., but having dated and lived in Miami, the W Hotel was truly the perfect backdrop for their wedding. Amanda wore a Vera Wang gown named Fiona. Her bridesmaids gray, strapless gowns were accented by a black ribbon belt that Amanda herself designed and provided. Amanda’s father had passed away before her wedding day, so her sweet brother walked her down the aisle. The ceremony altar and aisles were adorned with bundles and bundles of baby’s breath — so simple and clean.

The modern, edgy, and eclectic design, coupled with the lush garden landscapes gave their wedding an upscale, modern and clean feel and look. Ocean Flowers by Guerdy provided the pops of color the green lawn needed with gorgeous orchids, peonies, garden roses, and hydrangeas. Willy and his family hail from Peru, so the signature cocktail served was a Peruvian Pisco Sour, and the favors were gorgeous, wood-wrapped Nuestra sodas monogrammed with Amanda and Willy’s names. Chevron print made an appearance in some of the picture frame quotes (quotes from everyone from Elvis to Coco Chanel) and was also the background of the board with table names and numbers. Purple was the main color of choice, showing up beautifully in the bouquets and table decor.

Amanda + Willy opted for a laid back reception with no real agenda, allowing for great flow and relaxing fellowship with their guests, who had all traveled from literally around the world to be there with them and celebrate this special day.

From the Bride… Miami is a special city to us.  We met in Miami, fell in love, got engaged and knew it was the only placed we wanted to get married.  Our venue, the W Hotel in South Beach, was perfect from the moment we walked in – the eclectic collection of art, the beautiful marble, and chic furniture. It is modern and romantic.  Once we chose the venue, we knew we couldn’t have just one theme or color scheme!  Each room was so different; from the lush green lawn our ceremony took place to the gorgeous gold and dark wood ballroom.  Our florist, Stan from Jim Threlkel Florist, was so creative that he took our ideas and made them even better than we could have imagined.  We loved all of the candles and flowers that decorated our tables.

Josh’s mother is no longer with us and we wanted to honor her on this day.  She loved birds and the color purple.  At our ceremony, fifteen white doves were released and small hummingbirds were delicately hidden in our centerpieces.

I have a major obsession with sweets – not just a sweet tooth, but I went to pastry school as well.  It was difficult to try to choose just one dessert!  I wanted something untraditional – we chose a French macaroon cake decorated with golden bees and butterflies.  There were even two at the top with a veil and top hat!  It didn’t end there though..we had a dessert buffet with homemade brownies, chocolate tarts, and ice cream sundaes (to name a few!).

We wanted our guests to have a weekend they would remember as much as we would.  We hung out by the pool during the day and celebrated each night.  At our reception, we had a photo booth to document all the fun our guests were having.  We also encouraged everyone to take off their high heels and changed into flip flops to continue dancing.

At our after party, we handed out light up glasses and necklaces and served freshly fried donuts, fries and corn dogs! We danced until 3 am as DJ Gunars spun.  Our wedding was perfect and it only made Miami that more special.

Miami Wedding by Laura Leslie Photography

Welcome to the Style Me Pretty Florida blog!  This is the place where we’ll bring you loads of inspiration from all over the sunshine state.  There is some serious style pouring out of this beautiful and diverse place!  One of my favorite photographers to come out of the south is Laura Leslie Photography.  I have fallen fast and hard for her work. I want to frame some of these Miami beach shots and hang them in my apartment.  It doesn’t hurt when there is a swoon-worthy, chic-to-the-max wedding involved too.  The coral and yellow hues compliment the ocean views so perfectly and I am bonkers for the mod meets romance meets hot Miami nightlife vibe!  Click here to see even more!

The couple held their wedding in Miami Beach, a few hours from the bride’s hometown of Palm City, Florida.  The Raleigh Hotel provided a beachfront venue with a vintage feel.  The “old Florida” vibe was a real draw and the bride was excited to incorporate the beach into the celebration, having grown up on South Florida beaches. The hotel had special significance to the couple because it was where they stayed during their first trip together.

The bride’s childhood Reverend presided over the ceremony, held steps from the beach in an alcove on the hotel grounds. The cocktail hour and reception were held around the Raleigh’s historic art deco pool and decorated with white and yellow orchids with blush accents. The groom’s father’s family from Thailand transported small hand painted ceramic covered boxes as wedding favors for the guests. The four tiered petal shaped wedding cake was topped with bride and groom love-birdies and included South Florida themed flavors, such as key lime, the groom and bride’s father’s favorite flavor. The bride surprised the groom with a red velvet flavored groom’s cake shaped like a shamrock in honor of Notre Dame, the groom’s alma mater.  Liquid DJs made the reception high energy by lighting the reception tables with a warm glow, uplighting the surrounding palm trees, and spinning a lively playlist that kept people dancing until the early morning.
