Heartfelt Mountain Destination Wedding in Telluride, Colorado

I sat down to write this post as I do every night; I snuggled in on the couch, opened the submission and took inventory of the description. All very typical. Until I hit play. That’s when it changed. Before five seconds of this beautiful film from Creative Films passed, I was invested in this couple, their wedding, their marriage. There were tears. This film is a beautiful representation of what is obviously a beautiful couple (inside and out), and I won’t blame you one bit for hitting play more than once…

From Creative FilmsThe love that these two expressed to each other and the love that their families were able to share with them on their wedding day was reflected in the amazing backdrop of the mountains in Telluride, Co. Their faith shined over their weekend and it was evident that everyone who came to celebrate with them at the Peaks Resort had an amazing time hiking and exploring this amazing mountain and town. Anna-Louise and Nick are from Texas but hold the Mountains of Telluride in a special place in their hearts, and although it rained on the morning of their ceremony and they weren’t able to have the wedding at the top of the mountain, it didn’t stop them from having the most amazing day. Ana from Soiree Telluride and New Leaf Design designed a perfect weekend for this sweet family.

Rustic Gorrono Ranch Wedding

This mountain fete from Cat Mayer Studio has brought ‘rustic’ to a whole new level. With vibrant florals from The Garden Store, a gelato bar instead of a cake, and an oxygen bar? It’s fun and bright all while embracing the prettiest rustic touches and you can see it all right here!

From Cat Mayer StudioAneka, the bride, owns her own interior design company. She and groom chose “rustic elegance” as the theme for their wedding. In that spirit, the dinner reception was set up with casual but stylish lounge seating all around the outdoor-only venue. Coffee tables, flowers, outdoor string lights made the ranch comfortable and easy to mingle with guests. The couple opted for casual food bars with fish tacos and made to order guacamole, chicken korma, grilled vegetables. They had a local gelato bar set up a station rather than having a wedding cake. The couple also had an oxygen bar with different “flavors” which was fun for guests, and gave those coming from sea level a boost of oxygen at 10,000 feet!

Mountain Elegance at Telluride Ski Resort

After poring over this stunning soiree designed by Love This Day Events and captured by Paige Elizabeth Photography, I do believe mountain elegance may just be my new favorite category of wedding. Every image and detail makes my heart sing, and it doesn’t hurt that the pup could quite possibly be the cutest pup on the planet. Basically, I love this gallery.

From Love This Day EventsLindsey and Joel’s September wedding in Telluride was dreamy perfection. We designed the day to be timeless and a reflection of everything that Joel and Lindsey love (namely great shoes, pretty flowers, Oliver – the best dog ever- and fly fishing). I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Telluride and after the amazing time we had planning and producing this wedding, Telluride may be one of my favorite spots for a Colorado Destination Wedding.

From the Bride…How did Joel propose? We went to Beaver Creek for a long weekend to escape the business of travel and work. It was a resting/spa/fishing weekend and he surprised me there. Oliver (our dog) delivered the ring wrapped in a box around his collar. Honestly I thought for sure there were earrings in the box.

What was the most important part of the wedding weekend to you two? We wanted our friends to have an amazing weekend with their friends and us! We also wanted to give everyone the excuse to dress up and impress their significant others. Lastly, having our families together in one place, we wanted everyone to be together and close to us.

How did you pick Telluride? I always wanted a small destination wedding and Joel I think had envisioned something bigger so this was a great place to satisfy both of us. We also discovered the place together on a vacation and not a work trip. Fell in love with the charming, quiet, beautiful town.

What was your favorite moment of the day? Our first look at New Sheridan, hands down! The morning was so amazing, getting ready with the girls, yoga at the house, everything was wonderful but I didn’t realize how stressed I was until I got to see my soon to be husband for our first look. I was more excited to marry him at that point than ever. It was such a relief to hug and love on him at that moment. I would have to say the feeling at that moment set the tone for the rest of our lives.

Tell me about your dress (and those shoes!!!) Florence by Monique Luhuillier. Purchased at Anna Be! Pearl necklace from Joel and earring to match from mom.
And we both wore Salvatore Ferragamo shoes that we bought together in Chicago on Michigan Ave.

If you had one piece of advice for other brides – what would it be? Hire Kara! She seriously gave me the wedding of my dreams. I loved being there for a full week, having time to let it sink before the actual day. Making a point to be present, I wanted to remember every moment. Write your vows early, don’t wait till the last minute.

From Chowen Photography… This was just the perfect wedding. Kyle and Emily had a black tie affair in the majestic mountains of Colorado. Just a few miles outside of Telluride at the bride’s parents’ private family ranch. They had guest come from all over the country for this destination wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and so much fun. The bride got ready at the ranch and the groom got ready in Telluride. The ceremony took place in a gorgeous field outside the home and the reception tent was right next to it so that the guests could have fun….and fun they had. It was a very meaningful ceremony followed by a very joyful reception filled with lots of love and laughter. These families were so close and had the most amazing family bonds. It was the most wonderful day and we were so honored to be a part of it! They even brought out masks for the formal announcement into the reception. They also changed into Luchesse cowboy boots for the reception as well. The perfect black tie Colorado wedding.

Telluride Wedding from Jessica Burke + Lisa Vorce

Today we get to focus on the details and only the details. And those details are a glamorous approach to rustic set against the stunning backdrop of Telluride. We love that combo along with anything and everything that Lisa Vorce designs. She has the golden touch, that one, and paired with the floral art of R. Jack Balthazar and the imagery of Jessica Burke; it’s a sight to behold. Lets just say Telluride has met its match. Those mountain views have nothing on this all white tablescape or crimson after-party. See the full day unfold right here AND be sure to stop by SMP Living for a rehearsal party that will knock your boots right off.

From Lisa Vorce… For a wedding ceremony, you could not ask for a more glorious backdrop than the San Sophia overlook in Telluride, Colorado! Surrounded by spectacular 360 degree mountain views, we wanted to keep our ceremony decor super simple to honor our surroundings. For the aisle treatment, R. Jack Balthazar created beautiful “plantings” of thistle and field flowers atop rustic wood pillars. Guests kept cozy with beautiful wool blankets and wraps. The ceremony programs and muslin petal toss bags echoed the graphic mountain pattern we used on the invitations.  The groom’s mother knitted hearts for the groom and the groomsmen to wear in place of a boutonniere which coordinated with the sweet hand-knitted heart ring bearer pillow as well!

For the dinner reception, it was all about the candlelight! In gorgeous Allreds restaurant, R. Jack Balthazar created beautiful table scapes with thin glass vases of mono-botanical arrangements (all Astilbe) and candlelight en masse. Stunning! We used taupe dupionique linens from La Tavola which were the perfect neutral “mountain” tone. Crisp, white hemstitch napkins were treated with a small sprig of thistle and a feather. Such a simple treatment – delivering gorgeous impact. The white cake from Telluride Truffle was simple and modern with two oversized sugar flowers from Sweet and Saucy Shop.

Once the cake was cut, guest were escorted downstairs to a surprise  after-party.  We converted a hidden, unfinished, raw space into a Prohibition-era inspired “speakeasy”. R. Jack Balthazar provided thematic décor including Edison lamps, decanters, and furniture of the era.   The main focal point was a large custom designed graphic “chalkboard” style bar back that featured old cocktail recipes.  It was amazing! Deep red peonies in bell jars added an apothecary feel. To keep the night going, guest enjoyed their favorite coffee or espresso beverage by an award winning barista. The guests danced into the wee hours of the morning to tunes from the amazing DJ Jus-Ske. An incredible evening was had by all!
