Templeton Wedding from MEF Photography

California is home to some of the prettiest weddings on the planet. That’s a fact. But when you have a bride with the most impeccable sense of style, it takes a California wedding from pretty to positively perfect. And as a talented graphic artist, this bride had her hand dipped into all aspects of the day’s design. Add in the peachy-perfect florals from Adornments Flowers plus the breathtaking photos from MEF Photography, and you’ve got a gallery that’s sure to inspire. But as if that weren’t enough, there’s a film by Rain Studios to tie to all together.

From MEF Photography…I am so excited to share this peach, feminine, loving wedding at Lago Giuseppe in Templeton, CA,  because remembering it brings me such joy. I tend to have strong relationships with my clients, but Katie + Danny, with their warmth and trueness of spirit, nuzzled themselves into a very special corner of my heart. And their wedding was such a perfect showcase of their love and lives. But I think my favorite part is not just how personal their wedding was, rather that it was made so personal by the bride herself. Katie is a super talented graphic designer who knew exactly what she wanted. She brought such elegant femininity to her details, all of which she personally designed, proofed, printed and assembled. She also honored Danny’s Hawaiian heritage (with his Maile Lei, the koa wood in his wedding ring, and by blowing a conch shell to start the ceremony) and included clever nods to his love of bass fishing (check out their escort card display!). Their engagement session was done mostly on his boat! A good wife, indeed.

And oh, the peach! From the invitations, programs, and pinwheels (care of the brides’s sister-in-law!), to the favors, flowers, and flags. Katie so beautifully wove her accent color in and through every possible detail of the day, without being overbearing in the least. I also can’t forget to mention that Katie’s grandfather serenaded Katie and her father during their dance—tear-jerker central! And the ceremony was officiated by Katie’s brother!

A fire pit, s’mores, a beautiful dessert bar, blankets for their guests, pre-ceremony beers for the guys, Katie’s mother’s wedding veil. I could talk for ages about this wedding, it left such a mark on my soul, and I believe the photos ooze Katie + Danny—their personalities, their happiness and their unique and splendid relationship. But I could do no better job in my description than the bride herself could, so I will let hers stand:

From the Bride…When it came to picking a location for our wedding, choosing the Central Coast was a no-brainer. Being really laid back ourselves, we loved the laid back feeling the towns in that area had. I actually found our venue, Lago Giuseppe, on Style Me Pretty when we were first searching for locations. If there was a spike in Internet traffic to “Templeton Wedding by Three Nails Photography”, it was probably all me. I fell in love with the location and once I met the family that owned the property, I fell in love with them too. I truly felt like they treated us like we were a part of their family and I can’t wait to visit their growing winery in the years to come.

Being a graphic designer, I appreciate when people put their trust in me when doing designs, so when I picked our vendors, that’s exactly what I did. I trusted their craft and let them take charge since they were the experts. And they certainly did not disappoint. I have to give a huge thanks to The Wedding Standard ( website. I utilized that as a starting point for choosing most of the vendors we used. The Wedding Standard has hand-selected a group of trusted wedding professionals in the Central Coast and it really made me feel comfortable that I picked reputable people.

I could go on and on with rave reviews about each of our vendors, but the best decision we made was choosing our photographer, Molly. She captured so much emotion and we are beyond in love with our photos. Your photographer will be with you more than any other person on your big day and having her around was such a joy. It was like having a good friend along for the ride all day. She may be tiny, but she flawlessly ran the show when getting all of our portraits done. Trying to herd the bride and groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and families from both sides is no easy task and I never knew how important having an organized photographer would be until that day. We can’t thank her enough for the memories she captured that will last a lifetime.

Templeton, California Wedding from Sarah Kathleen Photography

On the opposite side of a traditional ballroom affair lies a little gem we like to call California classic. It’s a type of wedding that utilizes the clear blue skies as its backdrop, where the sunshine runs a plentith and a layer of casual elegance is woven into each and every detail. This Templeton wedding indeed checks every one of those boxes along with photographs by Sarah Kathleen that capture maybe the best detail of all; the Bride’s big, beaming smile. It’s totally infectious and you can see even more of it right here in the full gallery as well as in the film by Joel VanZ way too sweet to pass up.

From the Bride… John and I were extremely lucky and honored to be married at his family’s vineyard in Templeton, CA. The property is an incredibly special place for us and is where most of our big relationship milestones took place, so getting married there set the stage for a wedding that was very personal from start to finish. A good friend of ours officiated the ceremony, another good friend catered, the wine was made by John’s dad, the beer was made by John’s uncle, and my dad planned and manned the cigar and Scotch bar.

Our main goal in planning the wedding was for it to be romantic and warm and very us, but most of all, we wanted it to be an incredibly fun party for our friends and family who had traveled so far to be there. I think we succeeded! What started off as a nearly unbearably hot 100 degree day turned into one of most beautiful and warm nights we’ve ever experienced and eating dinner outside under the cafe lights with everyone we love was something we’ll never forget. Our first dance, our delicious rosemary lemonade fizz cocktails, the amazing food, the awesome music & extremely energetic dancing.

Everything was perfect from beginning to end. My advice for brides planning a wedding at a venue that is more or less bare bones like I did? Start planning early and don’t stop! There are a million things to think through that you wouldn’t ever need to think about at a real wedding venue: Power generators, porta potties, lighting… the list goes on and on! Also – do something uniquely you and a little unexpected: We surprised our guests with late night karaoke and, given the open bar, it was a big hit!

Templeton Wedding by Ken Kienow Photography + Flowers by Denise

This gorgeous outdoor fete is the epitome of a casually elegant California wedding. I’m loving the al fresco dining full of simple, white blooms by Flowers by Denise, the mini glass bottled coco-cola wedding favors with wooden tags made by the groom inscribed with “It’s the real thing,” and those subtle, yet glittery table numbers. Ya, they make my heart happy. As do all the beyond pretty images by Ken Kienow Photography and all the touches of lavender. Click here for more!

From the Bride…Brian and I fell in love with our venue from the moment we visited it a year ago.  We knew we could get everything we wanted in our wedding by choosing this location.  Located on a bluff overlooking the vineyards with lush greenery and twinkle lights, a glass of wine and good company is all you need. We wanted a small, intimate and romantic wedding with lots of dim lighting, neutral colors, white rose petals and subtle hints of lavender and amethyst.  When I was planning my wedding, I knew I wanted a variety of white flowers in low vases as our centerpieces so our guests could talk easily with one another in a laid back atmosphere.  At the reception, a slideshow played which included pictures of Brian and I growing up, our relationship together, and pictures of our friends and family.  We then danced to Keith Urban’s “Making Memories of Us,” one of our favorite songs from a concert of his we went to so long ago.  As guests mingled throughout the night, they heard thunder and saw lightening in the distance from a storm that had threatened us all day.  Luckily we only caught the tail end as it began to sprinkle just as the dancing was coming to an end…

Some personal touches we added to make our day special:  My bridal bouquet was adorned with a brooch that belonged to my late grandmother.  Our aunts, uncle’s, and parent’s were given special corsages and boutonnieres as they arrived to the wedding.  And each person’s place card was hand written by me in the same printed paper that I used to line the envelopes for our wedding invitations.  My shoes were plain silver flats I found at Nordstrom that I had added a brooch too. Our wedding favors were vintage coca cola’s with brown wooden tags (painted by the groom) that said, “Michel & Brian – It’s the Real Thing.”  My amazing cake is a replica of one I saw and fell in love with on SMP!  I HAD to have this cake!

My favorite memory of our wedding was sitting down at the reception for the first time, as dinner is being served and the sun is going down looking at all our guests enjoy each others company at our wedding.  The twinkle lights became brighter and brighter as the sun went down and Sinatra began to play, what an amazing feeling being just married celebrating our love with our family and friends.
