Sparkly Crop Tops Are 2017’s Engagement Pics Must Wear Piece

These two fell in love the old fashioned way (and probably my favorite way)… over love letters. But when it came time for their engagement pics, this Bride-to-be went chic and modern with a sparkly crop top ensemble that’s giving us major fashion inspo. Koman Photography captured it all for us to ooh and aah over – and leave us excited to see the stylish vibe they’re bound to take for their wedding day too!

From the Bride-to-be… DESTINED. This is the perfect word to describe us. Eric and I first met in Seoul, Korea back in 2002. We were introduced through a mutual friend. I was teaching English after graduating from college and he was serving a tour with the United States Army. We instantly connected and became close friends, enjoying each other’s company. Unfortunately, due to our careers our friendship never blossomed into a romance… not until 13 years later. After Korea, we lost touch, going our own separate ways. We randomly reconnected in October 2015, just days before he left on another overseas assignment. After that brief encounter, we were apart again (some 7,000 miles away!!!), but Eric knew that we were meant for each other.

Being fully convinced, he decided to pursue me in the most romantic way possible, he started by writing love letters. Although I wasn’t sure at first, it took me less than a few weeks to realize he was the one. Eric surprised me with a heartfelt proposal during a hiking trip we took along the coast of Carmel, CA. Wedding planning started immediately and the minute we confirmed the venue, everything else fell seamlessly into place. We knew that we wanted a small and intimate wedding to share our union with family and friends. We are very excited to start our lives together as ONE.

The Prettiest Way to Mix Fruit + Florals On Your Big Day

If you can’t get married in Europe, the next best thing is incorporating European-inspired elements to wherever you are having your big day. Drawing on the hand-painted frescos at The Neighborhood Church, Brie Walter brought Italy to Southern California with a lemon motif incorporated in the florals, invitations and the cake. Fall in love with it all in The Vault thanks to gorgeous photos from Sara Weir!

From Brie WalterThe inspiration for this shoot was whimsical romance meets young love. The venue, now a church, used to be a private residence. The walls are still covered in original hand painted frescos created by Italian artists in 1928. The beautiful architecture has soft, romantic details, while the chipped parts of the paintings offer a history that I wanted to accentuate through the styled elements. Staying in line with this inspiration, I used real lemons and various shades of yellow in the floral colors and cake details, and included lemons in the sketches on the invitation suite. With a blush, lace-detailed dress, the style feels a little more contemporary, but still timeless. All these elements complement the colors of the hand painted walls. Being on the coast, the dress and silks flowed in the wind capturing the effortless romance of young love, and tied the whole shoot together. If you can’t get married in Italy, you can find your favorite parts of their art here to create your own version of romance.

See Why Old World Glamour Is New Again

Good news, I’ve found the staircase to heaven and it’s all thanks to the talented team that is The Bloom of Time and Taryn Leach Events. A glamorous inspiration shoot complete with ethereal gowns, Jill Velez calligraphy, and one stunning venue, this gallery is sure to prove why old glamour is new again. See it all captured by the massively talented Rebecca Yale Photography in The Vault!

From Taryn Leach Events + Rebecca Yale Photography….This editorial was a true labor of love that we had such a joy dreaming up together. We took our inspiration from Saint Francis, a breathtaking chapel built from old brick and carved stone, radiated an old-worldy beauty that you might expect to find in an intimate European village. Nestled in the lush, wooded eucalyptus trees atop the plunging seaside cliffs of Palos Verdes, CA it was hard to imagine a more inspiring location for a shoot. With Old World beauty as the foundation of our design, we drew inspiration from art history and architectural movements in Europe during the medieval and renaissance time periods to create our concept. The period undertones allowed us to implement a regal element with our strong presence of golds and brass throughout the shoot, as well as the many gorgeous crowns and hair adornments that we were thrilled to feature. We incorporated couture gowns from Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, Marchesa and Watters to show the modern bride how she can draw inspiration from the Old World, but update it with modern couture. Our bridesmaids wore couture gowns by Marchesa, Reem Acra and BHLDN as a high fashion alternative to the matching bridesmaids gowns. We embraced the juxtaposition of an unpredictable ocean in our moody color palette and wild, weedy florals, while portraying the natural serenity of the coastal fog at sunrise on a quiet morning.
