The Prettiest Way to Mix Fruit + Florals On Your Big Day

If you can’t get married in Europe, the next best thing is incorporating European-inspired elements to wherever you are having your big day. Drawing on the hand-painted frescos at The Neighborhood Church, Brie Walter brought Italy to Southern California with a lemon motif incorporated in the florals, invitations and the cake. Fall in love with it all in The Vault thanks to gorgeous photos from Sara Weir!

From Brie WalterThe inspiration for this shoot was whimsical romance meets young love. The venue, now a church, used to be a private residence. The walls are still covered in original hand painted frescos created by Italian artists in 1928. The beautiful architecture has soft, romantic details, while the chipped parts of the paintings offer a history that I wanted to accentuate through the styled elements. Staying in line with this inspiration, I used real lemons and various shades of yellow in the floral colors and cake details, and included lemons in the sketches on the invitation suite. With a blush, lace-detailed dress, the style feels a little more contemporary, but still timeless. All these elements complement the colors of the hand painted walls. Being on the coast, the dress and silks flowed in the wind capturing the effortless romance of young love, and tied the whole shoot together. If you can’t get married in Italy, you can find your favorite parts of their art here to create your own version of romance.

See Why Old World Glamour Is New Again

Good news, I’ve found the staircase to heaven and it’s all thanks to the talented team that is The Bloom of Time and Taryn Leach Events. A glamorous inspiration shoot complete with ethereal gowns, Jill Velez calligraphy, and one stunning venue, this gallery is sure to prove why old glamour is new again. See it all captured by the massively talented Rebecca Yale Photography in The Vault!

From Taryn Leach Events + Rebecca Yale Photography….This editorial was a true labor of love that we had such a joy dreaming up together. We took our inspiration from Saint Francis, a breathtaking chapel built from old brick and carved stone, radiated an old-worldy beauty that you might expect to find in an intimate European village. Nestled in the lush, wooded eucalyptus trees atop the plunging seaside cliffs of Palos Verdes, CA it was hard to imagine a more inspiring location for a shoot. With Old World beauty as the foundation of our design, we drew inspiration from art history and architectural movements in Europe during the medieval and renaissance time periods to create our concept. The period undertones allowed us to implement a regal element with our strong presence of golds and brass throughout the shoot, as well as the many gorgeous crowns and hair adornments that we were thrilled to feature. We incorporated couture gowns from Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, Marchesa and Watters to show the modern bride how she can draw inspiration from the Old World, but update it with modern couture. Our bridesmaids wore couture gowns by Marchesa, Reem Acra and BHLDN as a high fashion alternative to the matching bridesmaids gowns. We embraced the juxtaposition of an unpredictable ocean in our moody color palette and wild, weedy florals, while portraying the natural serenity of the coastal fog at sunrise on a quiet morning.

New Yorkers’ Breezy + Beautiful Palos Verdes Engagement Session

It’s finally warming up here on the East Coast, but seeing sunny photos, like these beauties from Koman Photography, make me question why I ever left California. Thankfully, this New York-based couple’s romantic engagement session in beautiful Palos Verdes is taking me home and filling me with those happy California vibes. Get your daily dose of Vitamin D—and pretty—in The Vault!

From the Bride-to-Be…Chan and I met in an elevator our first week of college at New York University. Oddly enough, I have no recollection of this first encounter, nor do I remember our second encounter at a Thanksgiving potluck a year later. Two whole years after the elevator incident, I confidently introduced myself to Chan at a church barbecue, at which point he informed me that we had met twice before. Though terribly embarrassed, I laughed it off and we bonded over a mutual interest in cooking. Over the next couple of years, Chan and I grew to know each other first as friends and then more intimately when we started dating in 2014. He was passionate and driven, yet gentle and incredibly kind, so naturally I wanted him to be mine forever. Lucky for me, things worked out in my favor!

Chan and I both get a bit claustrophobic living in New York City now, so for our engagement session we wanted to be near the open ocean in Southern California, where I grew up. We had a location in mind, but John and Marlene of Koman Photography had an even better suggestion and we’re so glad we listened to them. The day of our photoshoot, I visited the talented Marie Tran of Luna Bella Beauty to have my hair and makeup done before heading over to Flat Rock Point in Palos Verdes, CA. We were both nervous to be photographed but John and Marlene made us feel completely comfortable and we ended up having a blast! We are so happy with our photos and we are more excited than ever for our wedding day!
