Palm Springs Wedding from Laura Goldenberger Photography

The O’Donnell House will forever be emblazoned in my brain as the venue with the absolute best ceremony view. It’s tucked in a hillside overlooking the desert and blanketed in the brightest fuchsia bougainvillea; a total dream spot and right up this couple’s alley when it came to the style and backdrop they wanted for their big day. The result, as seen through the lens of Laura Goldenberger’s camera, is good scenery, beautiful, hand-crafted details and a night that this couple describes as both monumental and totally perfect. Now that’s a wedding for the win. Have a look here for even more.

From the Bride… When my husband and I started planning our wedding it was only natural to choose a beautiful desert back drop. In our dream life we would live in a Mediterranean/Spanish inspired hacienda with amazing outdoor spaces and lush greens set against the rough terrain. I searched high and low for a venue that fit our vibe, and finally stumbled across the O’Donnell House, a historic Spanish estate set on the side of a mountain near downtown Palm Springs overlooking the entire Coachella Valley. We couldn’t beat the winding drive up the side of the mountain to the wrought iron gates, the hand painted tiles, the large outdoor patio, the hand built rock walls, lush gardens, and, of course, the city views to host our perfect evening. I took on much of the design of the wedding myself, and if I hadn’t had Style Me Pretty to use for inspiration I would have been lost! I based the decor color palette around shades of blue, and incorporating lots of natural textures including reclaimed wood, geodes, etc. I wanted to carry the Spanish/Mediterranean/Moroccan feel throughout the wedding, but without being too thematic. We picked the perfect time of year when the estate’s gardens were in bloom, just looking at photos of our ceremony space you’d never guess it was in the desert. The wedding could not have been more perfect. My Husband and I believe you have many great moments in your life, but only a few that are so monumental and perfect that you will never be able to stop talking about them. Our wedding just happened to be one of these moments.

The Dreamcatcher Session from Katie McGihon

Just when I thought I was getting on board with this whole fall thing, this incredible photoshoot had to go and make its way into my inbox. The soft palette set against the harsh landscape is totally and completely up my alley. And ever since setting my sights on it, I find myself wondering if there’s enough time to throw just one more warm-weather party. Captured by Katie McGihon and designed by Arrangements Floral and Party Design , there’s a whole lot of pretty that can be found in the gallery.

From Katie… We just can’t let go of summer here in Palm Springs… which is only fair… since the high today is supposed to reach 109. Enjoy one last summer inspiration shoot from Katie McGihon and Arrangements Floral and part Design!

Inspired by the last of Palm Springs’ sweet summer light, event designer Luna created a concept full of surprises. From edgy neon colors to soft pastel hues, this bohemian yet romantic inspiration shoot came together just in time for the tail end of warm sunsets painted on desert mountains. Our real life couple fell head over heels for their table design, which featured neon/yarn wrapped numbers, geode, gold frames, dream catchers and casual seating. The mountains of Palm Springs were the perfect backdrop for this unique concept!

From Dale, one of the Grooms…How did we meet? Well, it depends on who you ask- Dan says at an event, but according to Dale, perhaps the more matter of fact one of the two, at a bar!  We met 13 years ago and ever since August 14, 1999, we knew there was a promise of something wonderful. Just like some couples, we exchanged I love you’s, shared loads of laughter, traveled to exotic locales, and even lived in multiple houses together. However, a big magical wedding was never something we dare to dream about. With the laws against us, we never even envisioned what the wedding would look like or where we would finally tie to knot, but we were truly happy with being a loving, committed couple. Having been committed to each other’s futures and dreams, it was as if we were a married couple since we moved in together, third year in!

Ultimately, it took almost losing each other to Dan’s leukemia to realize what are we waiting for? Some may even say that the cancer had a silver lining- it brought us closer than ever and prompted our big magical wedding. So why did we choose Palm Springs for our wedding? Well, prior to visiting Palm Springs, we thought it would be full of blue rinsed hair people, but we were pleasantly surprised with its accepting community and its passion for design and architecture, the which we love. Of course, having our vacation home in Palm Springs did persuade our decision- this is where we truly feel at ease with the beautiful blue skies and it’s HOT temperature.

When thinking about an overall theme for our day, we wanted Old Hollywood with a few casual, elegant touches. We chose Sand Acre, or also known as Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimaggio’s old love nest, using the outdoor patio as our wedding venue to reflect our love for alfresco dining. If we were to describe the wedding in a few words, it would be simple, elegant, and indulgent, hence the 3 outfit changes! All in all, our wedding was not all about us, but about celebration of love, life, and happiness. We wanted to thank our family and close friends, who have been tremendously supportive through the last few years. It was truly a magical 3-day event with 80+ guests who flew from overseas- we would do it all over again any day.
