Newcastle Wedding from Blooms by Martha Andrews

Pst! We’re about to let you in on a little secret. There is a reason we love Blooms by Martha Andrews as much as little girls love pink. It all comes down to wedding’s like this California ranch affair. Martha is the queen of lavish, luxe florals. Her events always are perfect in the floral department. And this one, captured by Alexandra Frankel Photography, is perfect in just about every other department too. Seriously, check out that sweet cake from Sweet Cakes by Rebecca. It’s stunning. From PLUSHAh, Sarah and Josh? Super fond memories come to mind when I think of this extra special couple.  So young, so sweet and so in love!  Having met one evening after a high-school dance, they haven’t left each other’s side since that night. Sarah and Josh hired PLUSH to plan their wedding back in 2009.

Big, big, big was what they wanted. Beach wedding in San Francisco, crystals everywhere and lots of pink!  Sarah was going to be the bell of the ball and Josh, the knight in shining armor.  But as time went on and the planning began, they realized that what we were designing didn’t really fit what they originally “thought” they wanted.  So, after about 8 months of planning we shifted gears and got down to the nitty-gritty of who they really were as a couple, and what it was they truly wanted.

Josh’s parents have 20 acres in Newcastle, California.  Breathtaking rolling hills, perfectly manicured pond, a hay barn with just the right amount of character, hay bales galore and endless memories shared with everyone attending!  They also plan on building their home together on this property after the wedding.  It was a perfect match!  Sarah still got her crystals and her pinks, and Josh got his country rock.  These two combined painted a perfect illustration of simple elegance and eye candy galore!

Each and every detail from the save the dates, to the venue, to the last dance, was an exact representation of Sarah and Josh’s vision of their wedding day, and most importantly who they are as a couple.  It was most definitely a collaborative event in which each and every vendor played an important role in this seamless wedding.  It was absolutely perfect.

DIY Wedding from Martha Andrews III

Today we’ve been featuring a charming, diy, vintage-inspired affair. Sent to us by Blooms by Martha Andrews, this wedding is just darling. The bride is a graphic designer, so she crafted picture-perfect details to match the playful energy of the day. In addition to the save-the-dates, invitations, escort cards, and favor bags, she also created the programs, the adorable cards for the table names (each named after a Beatles song), and the menu. Whew!

From the adorable bride, Erica…

I collected jars, vases, pitchers, etc. for over a year to use for our centerpieces. I borrowed some and found the rest at thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets around the Sacramento area. The main vase on our sweetheart table belonged to Tory’s grandmother.

Auhh, cute AND creative… now you can add sweet to the list of things that I can’t resist about this wedding.

If you loved the perfect details from this wedding as much as we did, check out the bride’s blog, Barnyard Chic for lots of how-to’s, advice, and wedding inspiration. Thank you Martha Andrews for sending this delightful event our direction. Congratulations Erica and Tory!

DIY Wedding from Martha Andrews II

Sent to us by floral artisan Martha Andrews, this wedding is another perfect example of the how color can add such personality and character to your day. I love the vibrant greens and blues mixed with with the rich browns (I’m going to make you wait to see the amazing chocolate cake until a little later). This wedding is a playful mix of color and sophisticated touches… it’s completely charming.

Not only is the bride a big fan of SMP, but Erica has a fabulous blog of her own called Barnyard Chic, where she has documented her wedding planning adventure (complete with lots of diy projects, talented vendors, and behind the scenes info). I am forever amazed by brides who are not only clever and talented but who also take the time to create gorgeous details themselves… case and point these rustic place cards boards. Erica wasn’t able to hang her escort cards as planned, so she crafted these fabric frames as an alternative way to display the place cards. Another great opportunity to incorporate bold patterns and personality into the day.

More on the way in just a bit!

DIY Wedding from Martha Andrews

Abby is in Texas this week, so I have the pleasure of bringing you today’s wedding, an eclectic, diy event full of fabulous details. Brought to us by the always amazing Blooms by Martha Andrews, this wedding is a colorful nod to 1940’s vintage style. Plus, the bride is a graphic designer, sooo we get the extra treat of some really fabulous invitations, programs, and stationery. Just look at the inside of the envelope… love. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

From the beautiful bride, Erica…

We wanted to have an eclectic vintage outdoor wedding. When we visited Newcastle Wedding Gardens for the first time, I just knew it was the perfect place for our wedding; the setting is one of incredible natural beauty mixed with old world charm. And I just loved the idea of having our reception in a BARN! Tory and I decided to do photos before the ceremony, and I’m so glad we did. It was really special to have that first moment between just the two of us.

My bouquet was adorned with a brooch that was my great grandmother’s. We had a basket of vintage hankies that I had collected from eBay near the guestbook; an attached sign invited guests to take one for their happy tears.

The obviously-talented-bride created tons of the details herself and lucky for all of us, she has been kind enough share a lot of her diy secrets on her blog, Barnyard Chic. More coming your way in just a few.
