When your sister happens to be the uber-talented Rebecca Yale, choosing a photographer for your engagement session is sort of a no-brainer. As is rushing off to Napa to capture every last ounce of pre-wedding bliss, because, well… Napa is just that awesome. Together, it’s a combination that makes for one crazy cool day of vino, love and one beautiful, light-filled image after another. See them all right here.
From Rebecca Yale Portraits… I am thrilled to share with you a beautiful engagement session today photographed at the Auberge du Soleil and surrounding vineyards in Napa. The session is very special to me because it is my sister and her fiance who have been dating for seven years and will be getting married next year in Napa. Our family has always been big travelers and Elizabeth and Rhys got engaged in Antarctica in January, so it only seemed fitting to do their engagement session while visiting a beautiful destination. We visit Napa every year and stay at the Auberge, so it holds a very special place in our hearts and was the perfect setting for their photographs.
From the Bride… Napa is one of our favorite places in the world. We go to the valley with my family every Labor Day to spend the last days of summer drinking great wine, eating amazing food and relaxing and enjoying each other’s company before getting back to real life in the Fall. We shot at our favorite hotel, the Auberge du Soleil and at a couple neighboring vineyards. We fell so in love with Napa that we decided to host out wedding there next fall. Which means, of course, that we get to spend most of our time wedding planning with a delicious glass of Napa Cab in hand!

From the Couple…Brock and I met in San Francisco and many of our early dates were spent in Napa and Sonoma. So when we first got engaged, we knew pretty quickly that we wanted the wedding to be up in wine country and that we wanted it to be outdoors with good food and wine. Our families and friends would be flying in from all over the US and the world so we wanted to make sure that everyone would have a great time! We took several road trips up to Napa and Sonoma and must have considered dozens of venues before we found Andretti. Andretti was off a quiet road amidst the Napa wineries and offered an absolutely stunning outdoor setting for a dinner party. Plus, there was an option to have the ceremony out in the vineyards which we gladly took advantage of!
We spent months planning and designing the wedding and crafting DIY wedding décor. I probably went through about 20 bottles of gold spray paint for all of our gold décor! Brock and I also brewed our own wedding ale which the guests loved. Our parents helped so much with some of the DIY aspects – Brock’s dad made chocolate truffles for our wedding favors, Brock’s mom did the calligraphy for our wedding escort cards and my parents designed the wedding aisle décor and planned the Chinese tea ceremony. The DIY aspects, along with an amazing team of wedding vendors, made the day really special… from the delicious food by Ramekins to our wedding coordinator, Brittany at A Savvy Event, to Soulflower SF who brought my pink and gold floral vision to life, to Jessica Burke Photography and Paperweight Films who together did an incredible job capturing the day. Most importantly, we were so happy to see all of our loved ones coming together and having fun. It was a magical night we’ll never forget.

When a wedding starts off with the Groom doing a cannonball into the pool, you know it’s going to be FUN. Hit Maker Films was there to capture the splash, followed by a day of pure love, infectious smiles and happy tears for anyone who chooses to press play.
From Hit Maker Films… Since Lee’s name sounds like the suffix ‘ly”, he likes to use his name within words like sincereLEE, obviousLEE, and of course JuLEE. From the first moment we pressed the record button we knew Julie and Lee’s wedding was going to be a fun one. How many weddings start off with the groom doing a cannonball into the pool?? They held their wedding in Napa Valley at Mont La Selle formally Christian Brothers Retreat. The day started off with prep as usual with the bride and groom getting ready at separate locations. Then we headed over to Mont La Salle for their first look. They shared a very intimate first look filled with laughs and tears. Next was ceremony, packed with 150 close family and friends. Following ceremony was a real party, when I say party I mean PARTY. These two danced non-stop with their family and friends all night, never taking a breath or sitting down for air. Lastly, they ended the night perfectly with sparklers for a grand send off. We hope you enjoy their jam packed fun day as much as we did!
