Romantic Bay Area Redwood Engagement Session

After two years in New York, I consider the Big Apple home. But this engagement session is making me homesick for my real home: the California Bay Area. Full of rolling hills, towering redwood trees, one adorable puppy and this sweet couple, this engagement session from Brooke Beasley Photography and L’Relyea Events perfectly captures that elusive California cool. See it all in THE VAULT!

From L’Relyea EventsAs wedding planners, we see & hear about couples getting engaged or married on a daily basis, but very rarely do we get to relish in the excitement of our own engagements. Today, we celebrate the genuine love of one of L’Relyea Events very own talents & lead planners/designers, Julia Evans. Julia & her fiancé, Galen, are more than thrilled to share some details of their engagement & their love story. These two opted for the whimsical & organic backdrop of Muir Redwoods and Mount Tamalpais in the foggy city by the Bay. This setting was truly perfect for the vision of Julia, who desired an organic and dreamy approach for her engagement photos. Even through frigid cold & wet weather, these two embraced the powerful setting created by the dark & mysterious climate, which made for sensational photography. It is not hard to see how in love & humble these two are through their romantic engagement session, and we could not be more thrilled to share with you this type of inspiring love! Julia & Galen will be getting married at the Villa Chanticleer in Healdsburg, California next May.

Mount Tamalpais Engagement Session

Hand holding and trekking through a gorgeous sunlit mountain with Josh Gruetzmacher? Sounds like a perfect e-sesh date to me! And when the couple is as cute as these two together, it’s easy to see how head over heels in love they are. You can bet this gallery is overflowing with love.

From the couple, Anna and Jack… Jack and I started dating in high school after meeting through a volunteer study abroad program. We spent our high school years exploring West Marin, driving up to Mt. Tam for sunsets, and watching the stars from Muir Beach, so Marin has always held a special place in our hearts. When Jack told me that we were going on a hike on Mt. Tam over Labor Day weekend I didn’t think anything of it since it’s long been one of our favorite places to hike. Little did I know that Jack had just returned from a secret all-day/all-night drive to LA where he had asked my dad for his permission to marry me. We set out on a hike a few hours before sunset and hiked to a lone tree overlooking Marin and San Francisco. Jack started pointing out places in Marin and reminiscing about how we fell in love there, and before I knew what was happening Jack was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Through shock and tears I of course said “yes!”.

When we reached out to Josh to do our engagement photos, we both agreed that we wanted to revisit our special spot on Mt. Tam for the shoot. We set out on a gorgeous day in January and had such a blast recounting our high school adventures and reliving our engagement memories with Josh. He captured our personalities and love perfectly!

Mill Valley Wedding From Waterlily Pond

Karen and Carter were married this past June at The Outdoor Art Club in the heart of Mill Valley, CA. Natasha of Waterlily Pond worked with Karen to design a fresh, vibrant wedding filled to the brim with warmth and love and a spectacular feeling of joy!

Karen is the vp of creative services at Williams Sonoma and is known in her circle of friends for her love of the color orange! It seems pretty safe to say that with those credentials, her wedding is going to be good!

Natasha ~ the terrific floral and event designer behind this affair said this of Karen & Carter’s wedding …

The style of the wedding was very organic and nature-inspired. For the ceremony we used rustic white birch sculptures with kiwi vines and an explosion of orange flowers. The aisle was defined with leaves instead of rose petals. We used many whimsical organic elements in the florals – berries, pods, grasses, persimmons, pomegranates and figs in centerpieces and arrangements. Karen’s bouquet was wrapped in bark-covered wire with a brooch made of a tiny pomegranate, and included orchids, monkey tails, chocolate cosmos and lots of different interesting grasses and greens.

And from the bride …

I’d sum up my style as “rustic elegance” – we focused on the natural charm of the setting, highlighting with summer’s most vibrant colors and flavors. We really wanted to keep everything very personal, inviting all our guests to a destination wedding in our own home town of Mill Valley… …tables were named for favorite destinations where Carter and I have explored the great outdoors….twigs, pinecones, and birch were all parts of local nature we wanted to bring inside…

I read a little bit about The Outdoor Art Club on their website. I thought what they said about themselves was super …

If you envision major decoration installations, lighting plans and other means to “transform” this space into something else, this site is NOT for you. The OAC is meant for people who appreciate the site’s rustic style and charm. For those this space can be a magical, memorable setting for your event.

We’ve featured Waterlily Pond’s gorgeous designs many times on SMP and each one just gets better! We thank Natasha for sharing one more with us!!

We also thank Jillian Kay Photography for providing these beautiful photos from the day … and our sincere congratulations to Karen and Carter!
