Rustic Engagement Session

If ever you’re wondering what to do for your own engagement session…take heed from this one. Because the couple’s adoration for each other set against a pretty, organic inspired backdrop is one that will never tire. With gorgeous photographs from Ashley Maxwell, there is so much more cuteness right here in the gallery.

From the bride…I’m excited to share a rustic elegant engagement shoot on one of the most unique wineries in California – complete with not only vineyards, but gorgeous barns, large wheat fields, old boats and a horse! We embraced our favorite fashions, from simple and summery to classy and elegant, with a little whimsy and bright colors added in (talk about bright pink lipstick)! Ashley, our photographer, found this versatile winery and knew that we could embrace our personal style and have a ton of fun. As winery lovers ourselves and two goofballs who love to laugh and play, it was perfect!

Colorful Vineyard Wedding in Lodi, California

Color is an intrinsic part of this wedding. It’s the glue that holds all the pretty moments together. From the bright florals by Blossoms By Lisa to the details awash with color by Going Lovely and Emily Blake’s photography that showcases all those pretty hues in such an elegant way. It’s a wedding that goes POP and you can see it all right here.

From the Bride… Nick and I met while working together. I noticed him first and asked a mutual friend who the cute guy was! For several days I would wear my cutest outfits and re apply lipgloss in hopes that he would notice me. Nick ended up asking the same mutual friend about me and we went out on a lunch date. After that, the rest was history!

I always wanted a romantic outdoor wedding. Nick and I have had so many amazing memories over shared bottles of wine and a vineyard seemed like the perfect venue. I searched for months for a local vineyard that fit our budget and style. When I found Grace Vineyard I immediately fell in love with it! The colonial style estate combined with the vineyard was the perfect amount of romance!

I knew that with a summer wedding and Nick’s Greek heritage that I wanted bold, fun colors combined with leafy ivy and cascading flowers. I chose pink, coral, orange, aqua, and soft touches of green to bring together summer and the numerous pinterest boards i obsessively made.

My favorite part of the wedding day was our first look. We opted to have a first look so we could share a special moment alone instead of in front of all our guests. I was so nervous for Nick’s reaction to all the hair, makeup, and dress, but when I turned around and saw his reaction I knew that everything was perfect.

I would tell other brides that they should definitely hire a wedding planner. I obsessively used Pinterest and combed through wedding blogs, but it takes a good wedding planner to see your vision and to make everything cohesive. Going Lovely thought of so many personal little details that I never even considered. I thought that I could pull it off by myself but leading up to the wedding I was overwhelmed with work, wedding appointments, and corresponding with vendors. I was so relieved that I knew that Going Lovely was on top of everything and knew my exact taste and that they could anticipate what I would like.

Lodi, California Vineyard Wedding from Marin Kristine Photography

We see a lot of pretty here at SMP. So much, in fact, that it can at times be difficult to put words to just how special each wedding day truly is. In some cases, however, words just aren’t necessary. Exhibit A–this California vineyard wedding and the ridiculously sweet photos from Marin Kristine Photography that speak entirely for themselves. Packed to the brim with pastel prettiness and the world’s most darling father-son duo, this wedding will leave your eyes watery and heart happy, guaranteed. For even more photo goodness, pop on over to the full gallery right here!

From the Bride… Kenny and I met at a local bar on “Country Night.” A couple of months later we went on a camping trip and haven’t left each other’s side since. Two years later we were engaged and planning our wedding. We knew exactly what kind of wedding we wanted that would reflect our style and personalities. We wanted something outdoors that was rustic and laid-back, yet elegant and formal enough for a wedding. We found all that and more at Oak Farm Vineyards. From the lake to the barn and vineyards it was the absolute perfect setting. Our venue was so beautiful I didn’t want a bunch of decorations to take away from what it naturally possessed. Angel’s Petals blew me away with her gorgeous simply-chic centerpieces, bouquets, and aisle decor. She perfected my vision.

I was definitely a bride on a budget, so doing as much myself as possible was important. With the help of my family we were able to put our personal touches on everything. Thankfully, they are all still talking to me after having to make program fans, chalkboard signs, seating charts, name tags, and 150 etched mason jars. I scoured Style Me Pretty for months for inspiration and came up with some great ideas on bringing our personal experiences into our big day. We fell in love camping so instead of a cake to share we decided on a S’mores bar, which was a big hit, and a salsa bar with Coronas for the cocktail hour because we were honeymooning in Mexico.

Being a hair stylist I definitely had some pressure to have perfect wedding day hair. My Pinterest worthy locks were done by my coworker (and super talented event hair designer) Jamie Zimmerman from Phoenix Salon in Walnut Creek. Kenny became a father at a young age and our family is everything to us. When his son came down the aisle with his “Here Comes Your Bride” sign there was a huge reaction from the crowd and it made our ceremony so special. It was definitely the best day of my life and I will never forget it. Thanks to Marin Kristine Photography our memories were perfectly captured and we can look back years from now on the day we became husband and wife.

Viaggio Winery Wedding from Scott Andrew Studio + 2Chic Events & Design

The ladies of SMP are wedding lovers through and through. It should come as no surprise that we are all “the kind of girl” who daydreams about our wedding on an hourly basis (even if most of us are married – vow renewals are so chic now). So when we come across a wedding that could easily be straight out of one of our daydreams, and learn the bride was not “that kind of girl” we’re shocked + inspired. This bride wasn’t sure what she wanted out of her big day until she sat down with 2Chic Events & Designs, who worked their wedding magic and created a masterpiece for Scott Andrew Studio to photograph. The gallery is waiting here – for any “kind of girl” (or guy)!

Adam and I met over 5 years ago through mutual friends. Right away we recognized our interests and hobbies were very much the same, but never thought we’d end up dating… let alone married. It only took numerous nights out with friends, me beating him at trap shooting, an April Fool’s joke gone badly, and a family vacation for us both to realize we were perfect for one another. We dated for almost 3 years when Adam proposed exactly the way he always knew he would… In Carmel, on the beach, at sunset. It was absolutely perfect.

Thus began our year long planning process. Let me start by saying, I had never been “that” girl who had dreamt of her wedding day her whole life. In fact, I had hardly put any thought into any of the details… period. Adam had stated right away that he wanted my mom and me to enjoy the experience together, but was (almost) always ready to offer his opinion and was more than wonderful throughout. So, my mom and I started looking at magazines, printing pictures, and searching online, only to realize that we had NO idea where to start or what we were doing! The best decision we made was hiring Aimee from 2Chic Events & Design. She was organized, calm, knowledgeable, and collected which was everything we were not.

Our overall vision started with the gazebo. It was the only thing that we could all agree upon at that point, so Adam and I spent a weekend gathering old barn wood for the legs and decided to make that our focal point. I loved the idea of chandeliers, crystals, and lots of flowers for both the ceremony and reception, and because they were the only things I was certain of, we then had an inspiration. Aimee, the talented professional she is, patiently sorted through and pulled together all of our other eclectic ideas and the day began to fall into place. I tried to personalize as many details as possible to make the day about Adam and I, and our personal style. (Mostly mine, some of Adam’s, and some of my mom’s) It all worked out!

When our big day finally arrived, I could not believe all of the beauty! Our hard work had paid off and every last detail fell into place. Adam and I had chosen our venue because of the beautiful landscapes and the welcoming reception area, where the ambiance flowed well throughout. I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding. For which, I owe the biggest thanks to my parents for giving me the wedding of my dreams. I have so many things I loved about our special day. My most favorite being the man I married and with whom I look forward to forever with. My custom wedding gown that my mom and I spent hours deciding on: Which lace? What kind of ruffles? Which placement for the floral accents? {and the list goes on and on} was phenomenal and I was honored to wear it! The best part of the dress was the note my mom had embroidered for me and put in a pocket made from the lace of her wedding gown. We had an exceptional wedding party, our family and friends were so much fun, the décor was fabulous, and everyone we worked with was outstanding in making our day possible. It was all we’ve ever wanted and more.

Backyard Lodi Wedding from Silvana Di Franco Photography

Truth be told, there isn’t a coral peony that we’ve met and haven’t adored from first glance. Or pink, or blush and every other color under the rainbow for that matter. Peonies are our jam and when blended with the likes of garden roses, hydrangeas and other such pretties they make for a well floraled wedding. One captured by Silvana Di Franco that has us embracing our pink loving ways and carving out a little time for a Vera Wang + Louboutin + adorable couple filled gallery. See it right here.

From the Bride… Once Thomas and I got engaged, the first thing we did was find our venue. We knew our aesthetic and what we wanted, but we just had to find “the” place. Once my grandma took us out to her friend’s property, we knew it was the perfect location and decided to have the wedding there. We both wanted it to be outside with lots of greenery, and we wanted it to be whimsical and fun. I fell in love with all of the willow trees and, of course, the lake! Right away I knew what colors, flowers and look I wanted for the wedding. It was pretty clear based on my Pinterest board what I liked because every picture had the same theme to it. Thomas was such a trooper with how feminine a lot of the details were. He said “whatever makes you happy, makes me happy.” We started out only wanting white on white with a blush tone here and there. We ended up adding different shades of pink to add pops of color so it was not too monochromatic. I love how the colors popped without being too overbearing and too matchy-matchy.

Our day turned out exactly how we envisioned it, and we could not have been happier. Even though it rained (a little), it didn’t put a damper on our day at all! Thomas and I were both SO glad that we wrote our own vows — it made the ceremony so special and personal. We both felt as if no one was there! We definitely could not have made the wedding happen without all of the help from our family and friends. They spent countless hours helping us with details and bringing our vision to life. All throughout our honeymoon, Thomas and I kept saying to each other how we wanted to go back re-live it again and again. It was without a doubt, the best day of our lives.
