Laguna Beach Wedding from Eliza J. Photography

If you’re from the camp where less is so, so much more; where intimate = fabulous then you’re going to be right at home with this wedding. Southern California is known for its laid back albeit insanely chic style and Eliza J.‘s images of this Laguna Beach reception are falling right instep with that theory. It’s the kind of easy elegance that lends itself to a reception turned dinner party where the food is phenomenal and the surroundings are populated by your nearest and dearest and the prettiest of blooms. They are flowers that literally brought the Bride to happy tears. Us too Jen, us too. See it all right here.

From Eliza J. Photography This day was so beautiful and unique. Chandler and Jen had a private, intimate wedding at an up-and-coming venue in the artsy downtown of Laguna Beach on March 24, 2012. What was special about this wedding was that it was so personal. Very few people were invited to a luxurious, sit-down dinner including blue cheese-encrusted filet mignon and tapioca-encrusted, coconut curry salmon. The rustic yet modern decor really set the tone and the ambiance for their special day, and the bride and groom happily conversed and thanked everyone who came personally. Jen’s dress was a custom-made, hand-sewn gown by the talented Sara Archibald of Illume Gowns. Everything about this day was intimate and special, and the bride and groom were so gracious and loving, not to mention incredibly beautiful.

From the Bride… A wedding without a cake, bridal party, bouquet toss or toasts? This might sound strange to some, but it is exactly what we wanted. Chandler and I envisioned a very simple and intimate reception with our nearest and dearest. We had one priority: food! To accomplish this, we searched high and low for the right venue, and we hit the jackpot with Broadway in Laguna Beach. The venue spoke for itself, the food was unreal, my florist brought me to happy tears, and my photographer captured the day perfectly. Our coordinator pulled everything together from behind the scenes for a seamless afternoon. What can I say? The vendors did it all, which allowed me to sit back and soak up having our closest friends and family in an amazing atmosphere. It couldn’t have been a more relaxing day.

Backyard Laguna Beach Wedding from Chenin Boutwell Photography

There aren’t many spots that boast near perfect year round weather for outdoor affairs. So, to be planning a wedding in Southern California is a pretty lucky bonus. It also isn’t very often that family members have a gorgeous backyard in said spot ripe for the taking. So consider this couple one of the luckiest on the planet. They held a glamorous garden wedding at a family member’s backyard in Laguna Beach and it’s as pretty as they come. Captured by Chenin Boutwell Photography, with design and planning by the Bride along with In the Now Weddings & Events  and florals by Honey and Poppies folded into each and every garden-filled corner, it all came together for a glowing example of garden nuptials. See so much more right here.

From the Bride… My husband and I knew we wanted an intimate garden wedding and choosing a beautiful location was one of our top priorities. When my Aunt Cathy offered for us to use her backyard in Laguna Beach, we couldn’t say no. We were so blessed to have our wedding in the home of a close family member. My goal was to minimize the décor and let the venue speak for itself. I put a personal touch on our wedding by creating some of the details: the table numbers, signage, favor bags and escort cards. My mom made the ring-bearer pillow and my friend, Lauren, designed the cover of our programs. With the help of each and every one our amazing vendors (and my incredible aunt), we were able to pull it off!

On the big day, my mother, future mother-in-law and bridesmaids surprised me with a champagne toast while we were getting ready. Hearing their kind words and funny stories was a wonderful way to relax before the ceremony. The day itself was everything we’d hoped for: great food, lots of fun and the company of our closest friends and family. My advice to brides is to take 10 or 15 minutes with your new husband after the ceremony. My husband and I had extra time after our photo session and were given the option to join the cocktail hour. We decided to retreat inside the house and share a beer. That one-on-one time forced us to be in the moment and allowed us to share our excitement with each other.

From Brooke Keegan Weddings and EventsHeather and Mick are from Dallas but wanted to find the perfect location for their intimate wedding. The Studio Restaurant at the Montage Laguna Beach was the perfect setting. With only 22 family members in attendance, they wanted to make sure every detail was perfect and special for their guests. The most important thing to them was to incorporate their five children in the ceremony so that they felt that they were just as involved as the couple. They were included in the sand ceremony, and each kid made a statement of why they were so excited their parents were getting married. The dining table was set to perfection by White Lilac, Inc. The gorgeous flowers, candles, lucite ghost chairs and beautiful linens made for a gorgeous tablescape.  Each guest had a personalized menu and a party favor of delicious B.Toffee! The guests dined on five courses from famed chef Craig Strong and also ate the lemon, white chocolate and raspberry wedding cake, their second dessert! The evening was so beautiful, intimate and special.
