Modern Wedding at Montage Laguna Beach

Beach weddings are my everything. I adore them. But when you throw in some modern flair and gorgeous styling (thanks to The Special Day) on top of them, well, I get a little giddy. And I may or may not let out a squeal or two. Because this gallery of image from Gabriel Ryan? It defines squeal-worthy.

From The Special Day …The most important thing to Amy and Jeff about their wedding was that it reflected their history as individuals, and their history as a couple. We did just that!

We decided on a color palette of orange with turquoise. Amy and Jeff met while attending OREGON STATE, and actually during their college football game, so they LOVE Orange! The couple picked the Montage Laguna Beach as their venue, and fell in love with the pattern in the fence gates, proving you can find inspiration anywhere! That inspired them to bring in a similar design as the motif in the invites and stationery that were designed by Amy’s brother in law. We even brought in the motif through the pillows & napkin treatments which we had custom made.

Amy grew up on the beach in the Oregon coast where there’s a lot of driftwood. To pay homage, we brought in grapewood (which has a similar look) elements to line their ceremony aisle and used it on their table centerpieces.

Montage, Laguna Beach Inspiration Shoot

If I could have any wish right now, I would wish that I was sitting pretty at one of the pretty place settings of this stunning shoot at Montage Resort And Spa. Because really, it doesn’t get more gorgeous. And that view? Basically to die for. With florals from Natasha Kolenko, invitations from Allison Kate Stationary, design genius by Shannon O’Neil at Cargo Creative, and images from COBA Images - this gallery is basically beyond. See it all here.

From Baldemar Fierro OF COBA ImagesLaguna Beach is one of the most beautiful destinations you can find in Southern California. Montage Resort & Spa envelopes all the beauty that is Laguna Beach. Set on an oceanfront bluff with sweeping panoramas of the Pacific, Montage is an ideal location for a wedding. Inspired by this beautiful city, local designer Shannon O’neil of Cargo Creative thought of a color story that would compliment this perfect venue. “My aim was to showcase a classic Montage wedding, while adding a unique color palette of navy and orange to resemble the ocean and sunset that Laguna Beach is known for” says O’neil. We both feel blessed to live and work in Laguna Beach with such a talented team.

Laguna Beach Wedding from Hazelnut Photography + LVL Weddings & Events

Meant to be.  That’s exactly how I would describe these two sweeties, who (along with their guests) braved Hurricane Sandy, cancelled flights and packing by candlelight to make it to their Laguna Beach wedding.  Yep, nothing (and I mean nothing) was going to stop this adorable duo from saying “I do”… and once they hit solid ground in The Golden State?  Pure magic.  The kind of magic that can only be planned by LVL Weddings & Events and captured in breathtaking images by Hazelnut Photography.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Hazelnut PhotographyThey almost didn’t make it to their wedding day. Set to leave their current hometown in New Jersey just as Hurricane Sandy was pounding the coast, flights were delayed for days and packing was completed by candlelight. But, by some miracle, with departures from the west coast at about 50%, every one of their guests made it out to Laguna Beach for a few days of incredible weather and an absolutely gorgeous wedding!

As an outsider looking in, you would never have known what Piper & Jeff had just come through. They were absolutely glowing! Light and love beams from each of them and it was such a joy to photograph them together. Piper had considered every detail, adding a few that I had never seen myself. In the middle of the ceremony, their mothers poured a bit of wine from two small carafes into a larger carafe. Their officiant, Jeff’s brother, then poured the combined wine into glasses for each of them. Wait staff passed champagne to each guest and a mid-ceremony toast was made to their new life; like the small separate carafes of wine, now becoming a single larger and fuller one.

It was an incredible day, with two generous, talented and beautiful people tying the knot.

Laguna Beach Wedding from Jasmine Star Photography

This bride and groom really thought of everything to ensure their guests had spectacular memories of their wedding! In the Now Weddings + Events organized pre-ceremony pink lemonade, a stunning view for the vows, custom-printed charger plates for place cards, and the list goes on! Perfectly pretty in that gorgeously but laid-back way only California weddings are. Be sure to check out the full gallery for all of the goods from Jasmine Star Photography!

From Amanda of In the Now Weddings + EventsClaire and Steve are the best of the best! Taking care of the guests was top priority for this couple. From the pre-ceremony sparkling beverage station, which boasted individual bottles of custom-labeled, pink, sparking lemonade, to the late-night, tray-passed, fresh-baked cookies, this couple took the time to think of the guests’ experience from beginning to end! They knew exactly what they liked and wanted, and that makes my job so easy and fun. They yearned for a classy, oceanside event that would really wow their friends and family (around 75% of them had traveled cross-country to join in the day). Their “quintessential classy California wedding” turned out flawlessly with the help of our amazing vendor team. The venue, which we custom-named “Amore Immortale” for their event (to keep it a surprise from guests, and also to ensure it reflected the way we felt about the day) was the perfect backdrop with its panoramic ocean view and Tuscan style. It was the first decision that was made in the planning process, and it set the tone for the rest of the details to fall into place!

Some of our favorite details: custom charger plates for place cards, adorned with the guest’s name in gold vinyl; each place setting held a menu card and favor box designed to follow suit with their invitations; the three bars were customized by adding a monogrammed floral and name piece; their custom cake and dessert bar; a lounge area with amazing, Tuscan/modern-style furniture held customized pillows bearing the name and wedding date of the couple; and gorgeous crystal stemware was complemented with a silk napkin and brooch accent at each guest’s setting.

Montage Laguna Beach Wedding from Jana Williams Photography

There’s just something about a traditional wedding that makes my heart pitter patter like crazy.  The dapper men in tuxes, the crazy gorgeous centerpieces, the ballroom settings – I LOVE them.  And I most definitely love them when they feature an adorable duo like these Laguna Beach sweeties, who seriously rocked their classic affair with layers upon layers of white and gold hues, glorious images from Jana Williams Photography and a flash mob during their cocktail hour.  Yep, I said a flash mob.  Are they awesome or what?!?  Click here for more.

From Jana Williams Photography… Caroline and Tim got married on a lovely afternoon in Laguna Beach, California, surrounded by 120 of their closest family and friends. They are both born and raised in New York and met while living in the city. On a vacation to Los Angeles, Tim proposed to Caroline on a bench overlooking the ocean in front of the Laguna Montage. Who knew that a year later, they would be living in LA and actually having their wedding so close to the spot where he popped the question?

Caroline and Tim got word of a secret flash mob that their friends had planned for cocktail hour, so they decided to learn the dance themselves and really shock everyone at the party. It was so funny to watch the flash mob start and then Caroline and Tim just join right in. So cute!

One of the sweetest parts of the day to watch was Tim during the first look. He stood there just praying as she walked up behind him and tapped on his shoulder. Tim and Caroline have a very strong faith and actually met at church in New York. They are a wonderful couple with amazing taste. Caroline got to be a princess for a day in her Vera Wang gown, complemented by her amazing flowers from Flower Wild. Nancy Park from So Happi Together really made Caroline’s dreams and vision for her wedding day a reality. The ballroom at the Laguna Montage was a pink, cream and gold masterpiece.

Laguna Beach Wedding at Tivoli Terrace from Richelle Dante Photography

This little love fest from Richelle Dante Photography has such a sparkling personality and you can see it shine through each and every detail perfectly chosen by this super stylish Bride and Groom. Take the amazing florals from emporaflora for example. The way the tablescapes at Tivoli Terrace glow in the most gorgeous of colors of pinks and golds and whites – thanks to those beautiful buds placed in the white milk glass vases – is how I know that these lovebirds are the coolest of cool. There’s so much more all to be found in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… When planning our wedding, Scott and I envisioned an intimate, romantic affair with close friends and family (and two dogs!). Because most of our guests were coming from out-of-town, we wanted to choose a location that would allow our friends and family to experience and enjoy the laid-back Southern California lifestyle. Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach, California, was the perfect backdrop for our wedding. The open-air, French garden setting set the tone for our vintage romance-style wedding, all while being a few blocks away from scenic beaches. We decided to have a daytime wedding with a morning ceremony and lunch reception. Having a daytime wedding allowed our guests to have time to explore the city and all it had to offer, including the summer art festival next door.

When it came to décor, we took inspiration from the venue itself to bring our vintage garden wedding to life. Scott and I collected milk glass pieces from antique stores, Craigslist and thrift stores. Our quest for milk glass became a treasure hunt. It took us on adventures to places we never would have visited otherwise, and we started looking forward to antiquing every weekend! As I scoured Craigslist for milk glass, I came upon wedding décor being sold by recent brides. I liked the idea of saving money by purchasing used wedding items. For example, the burlap and lace table runners, candelabras, chalkboard sign and even my wedding dress were all pre-owned items! These vintage items, combined with romantic touches such as the harpist and violinist, as well as the fun diversion of the prop-filled photo booth, cultivated a relaxed, intimate atmosphere for all of our guests.

I loved the lace on my wedding dress, so I incorporated touches of lace in the décor. The handmade soap favors (which were made by Scott’s aunt) were wrapped in vintage lace ribbon, and the pillars that flanked the aisle during our ceremony were draped in lace fabric. In terms of the color palette, I really loved the design of my invitations, so I used that as inspiration and kept everything fairly neutral with pops of color from the flowers. My florist created amazing floral designs with the candelabras and milk glass that Scott and I had collected. I loved the idea of handmade items, so I turned to Etsy for much of my décor. Our beautiful wedding day was everything I imagined – romantic, personal and easy! It was the perfect start to the rest of our lives together as husband and wife.
