Colorful Autumn Wedding In Orange County

You couldn’t ask for a prettier day than this — 75 degrees, palm trees, and uninterrupted blue skies. It’s worth swooning over without evening mentioning her Mori Lee gown and vintage accessories from Jewelsalem. Kite Flight Films‘ video really makes you feel like you’re there too (nice for us). But if you still want more check out the whole gallery of breezy goodness from OneLove Photography.

From the Bride… Because our fall wedding was in sunny, warm Orange County, I loved having the freedom to run wild with deep, bold hues while also not be afraid of keeping it bright. As a crafty couple, we knew we could DIY many details, taking on many of the decorative projects on our own. I’m a southern belle, and flew my creative mother from South Carolina to SoCal and in one weekend, and MANY craft and thrift store visits later, we had the beginning pieces of what became our dream wedding. The rustic Talega Country Club in San Clemente, CA offered the perfect ambiance for the big day: Rich dark woods, stained glass chandeliers and the most beautiful palm tree hugged backdrop. It couldn’t have been a bluer sky fall day and we’re so thankful that Onelove photography was there to beautifully capture every moment!

As lovers of the sea, we chose to get ready at the vintage, art loving ‘Laguna Riviera’ hotel, in the heart of Laguna Beach, with its charming hand painted coastal murals and the vintage feel of what a hotel built in 1948 hotel offers. We loved being beachside to take wedding party photos and do our ‘first look’.

I have always loved dried flowers so we decided to use all dried and sola flowers for our wedding. I had never seen this done…unique in every way!
My bouquet was an Etsy buy from a dried flower specialist in Michigan. …And the lavender, oh sweet smelling, beautiful lavender! I bought dried lavender bundles and handmade the bridesmaid bouquets and boutonnieres. Lace printed ribbon tied everything together beautifully. A lavender toss welcomed as husband and wife after the ceremony and was a ‘picture perfect’ moment for our photographers.

Personalizing our runner was something I envisioned while attending other weddings…I had never seen it done. I painted a verse onto it which is significant in our lives so walking down the aisle, over such sweet words, was an incredibly special moment.

We handmade hundreds of vases to use as centerpieces. Some we painted with glass paint and we covered others with beautiful hand screened wrapping paper. The clusters of eclectic vases filled with candles and dried flowers came together to make beautiful centerpieces without spending a fortune.

I chose my dress because it was simple enough to accompany my bright accessories, which I knew I wanted to wear before I even started dress shopping. The silhouette and lace up corset was the perfect touch of vintage I was looking for. My veil was a splurge, but worth every penny. The quality and beauty of the lace was stunning. Although I didn’t cry when I found my dress, the tears streamed as I tried on my veil with the dress for the first time.

We wanted everyone attending to know they were family so kept ceremony seating casual and family style long tables for dinner. Yard games kept the vibe fun during cocktail hour and our signature cocktail ensured the dancing went on well into the night.

So on a 75 degree November day, underneath two California palm trees, we said I do with our dearest friends surrounding us. Each detail well worth the hours of cutting, sewing, painting and planning. I know every girl says their wedding was perfect. Was ours perfect? Of that I’m unsure. I just know our day was perfectly and uniquely “us”.

From Hazelnut PhotographyLisa & Henrik are adventurers. They are two people looking to glean as much from this life as possible. Their friends are they family and their family is their most prized possession. Their wedding reflected all of this… who they are as individuals, and who they are as couple. It was absolutely perfect.

Lisa & Henrik were married on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean just as the sun was setting. The wind cooperated with us and it was so incredibly gorgeous. The decor invoked a gorgeous garden setting, and only enhanced the amazing ocean view. For the reception, guests were seated at two long tables covered with greenery, florals and candles. A fire burned behind it all and lights twinkled about their heads.

Lisa is Jewish, and the signing of the Ketubah was one of the loveliest wedding moments I’ve photographed. They signed it in the bridal suite, surrounded by their families. Then, her cousin sang a piece he’d written for the two of them. It was beautiful, and moved us all to tears. Henrik is from Sweden, and they brought in some Swedish traditions that I loved so very much! The seating arrangements were very traditional, in that the couple chose where each guest would be sitting. So, husbands and wives & dates were on opposite sides of the gorgeous long tables, inspiring conversation between people who don’t necessarily know each other. There were fourteen speeches peppered in throughout dinner. Fourteen! People from different stages of Lisa & Henriks lives got up to speak a bit about them. It was so interesting to hear bits about each of them from so many different people.

It truly was a day joining two people, their families and their traditions in one of the most beautiful settings California has to offer.

Classic White Wedding with a Stunning Floral Installation

If ever there were a floral centerpiece that could almost steal the show, it would so be this suspended centerpiece crafted by Heavenly Blooms. Those mid-air beauties are paired with a classic white wedding designed by Chic Celebrations that fully embraces the ballroom and gives it a fresh modern twist. One that looks extra pretty as seen through the lens of onelove photography. See for yourself right here.

From onelove photographyMeg and Danny wanted the wedding to be romantic and elegant but didn’t want tons of color. They liked the idea of soft glows and candlelight but still wanted it welcoming. They knew they wanted a head table with their brothers and sisters, so to set that table apart they wanted the decor on and around that table to be different. We thought of having smaller florals and candles on the table top and creating the major “centerpiece” overhead. When we brought the idea to the floral designer, she took it and RAN with it. It turned out perfect. The draping tulips looked incredible. The backlit wall behind them really illuminated the table and helped draw everyone’s eyes to the couple the whole night.

Modern Wedding at Montage Laguna Beach

Beach weddings are my everything. I adore them. But when you throw in some modern flair and gorgeous styling (thanks to The Special Day) on top of them, well, I get a little giddy. And I may or may not let out a squeal or two. Because this gallery of image from Gabriel Ryan? It defines squeal-worthy.

From The Special Day …The most important thing to Amy and Jeff about their wedding was that it reflected their history as individuals, and their history as a couple. We did just that!

We decided on a color palette of orange with turquoise. Amy and Jeff met while attending OREGON STATE, and actually during their college football game, so they LOVE Orange! The couple picked the Montage Laguna Beach as their venue, and fell in love with the pattern in the fence gates, proving you can find inspiration anywhere! That inspired them to bring in a similar design as the motif in the invites and stationery that were designed by Amy’s brother in law. We even brought in the motif through the pillows & napkin treatments which we had custom made.

Amy grew up on the beach in the Oregon coast where there’s a lot of driftwood. To pay homage, we brought in grapewood (which has a similar look) elements to line their ceremony aisle and used it on their table centerpieces.
