When classic black tie marries al fresco beach casual the result is nothing short of magical. The juxtaposition of the traditional with the outdoor sunny locale in this wedding is everything I needed today and then some. A great big thanks to Allyson Magda Photography and the beautiful, dog loving couple for sharing the day with us!
From the beautiful bride… My husband and I grew up 15 minutes apart from each other in Southern California, but did not meet until we both attended college in New England. When it came time to plan the wedding, we knew we had to return to our roots and hold the wedding close to our family and friends. Luckily, we fell in love with the first venue we visited – The St. Regis – a beautiful spot by the ocean with a small botanical garden in which to hold the ceremony.
The St. Regis drove much of the detail planning. We wanted to keep things simple, yet match the understated elegance of our ceremony and reception sites. It was important to keep the day low-stress and make sure all of our guests had fun. While we had some ideas about the color scheme and decorations, we knew that we had selected a dream team of vendors (led by the wonderful Agape Planning) to help bring our vision to life. For example, we were able to show our love for dogs by having an animal shelter bring in some darling dogs to join our cocktail hour. We were fortunate to book the very talented Allyson Magda to capture the festivities. Looking through the photos brings a smile to my face every time! We can’t thank our vendors enough for all the hard work they put into making our wedding day a success. They were so fun and easy to work with – I trusted them completely, which gave us more time and energy to spend with our guests!

Let’s talk about fun duos for a minute, shall we? Because these darling Monarch Beach sweeties really know how to have a good time. Like a fist pump at the altar, smile in every last photo, dance the night away good time. They are in love… and it takes just one glance at their tradition-filled Dana Point glam-fest to know it. On hand to capture all the happy? Goddard Studios Photography, who snapped up those gorgeous florals from Square Root Design and every last second planned to perfection by Maria Lindsay Weddings. From Goddard Studios Photography… Anthony has had a successful business in Orange County, California for many years. Ginny came to work for Anthony about seven years ago, and this is how they fell in love. Together for a long time, and even having a six year old boy together already, they finally decided to get married. Since they had waited so long, they wanted to make sure they made this the perfect day. They hired Maria Lindsay to be their planner, chose the St. Regis as their venue and Square Root as their flower and design vendor. For their flowers they loved a clean contemporary style and they loved the St. Regis because it had a Great Ocean View and the mix of Mediterranean contemporary they were looking for.
Ginny’s dress, most beautiful- made by (of course) Vera Wang! Before the “first sight”, Anthony showered Ginny with gifts. Several pieces of jewelry, all from Tiffany.
It was such a pleasure to shoot Ginny and Anthony’s wedding. They were fun people, which you can tell from looking at the pictures. Everything starting out “serious” (like for example the posed family/bridal party shots), ended up in laughter and joking around. Great to see a couple, who’ve already been together for quite some years, be this in love and so wonderful for one another.

From the Bride… Michael and I knew each other for two years before we were married. We met in Hollywood at the “Jone’s Bar” after we were set up by my sister Dinah. I’m originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Michael from Westchester, New York. Currently we live in New York, New York, where we both work.
In regards to the wedding and overall color theme, I liked a combination of blush, white and gold, which has an antique and elegant look. I liked “lily of the valley” from Princess Diana’s wedding and the old-school look with simple flowers and a lots of green. The flowers were a similar look to what my grandmother had. I gave each bridesmaid pearl earrings from Tiffany to wear, and our moms each got a “no tears” necklace (which symbolized holding in the tears). For my wedding dress, I knew I wanted something with sleeves. I would have worn my grandmother’s dress, but unfortunately it wasn’t preserved well and was very yellowy and stiff. I just always knew I really wanted a more traditional, old-school wedding. I bought my dress at The White Dress in Corona Del Mar, and I knew it was the one for me when I saw it. We chose the St. Regis mainly because of location and the ballroom. We figured it would be a great place for our many out of town guests to enjoy and experience Orange County.
