Sweet Lavender Infused Wedding at a Private Healdsburg Estate

This wedding is a sea of lavender in every sense of the word. From a palette of pretty soft purples to a tablescape decorated with fresh herb sprigs, it ‘s stuffed to the gills with summer style and a reception built around sunlit dining. Plus a ton of gorgeous images by Heather Elizabeth Photography. See the full affair right here in the gallery.

From Heather Elizabeth PhotographyI am sending you the wedding of Doug and Felice that I photographed on May 31st of this year. The wedding took place at Doug’s parent’s place in Healdsburg, California. The couple still lives out in that area and are huge beer & wine fans. So of course the wedding had the best of the local brews and wines. Felice is so detail oriented that she really had a small detail for everything – down to the sign pointing to the restroom! It was really a feast for the eyes for me to photograph. They even had a private vineyard to shoot in! From The Bride…All the succulents were ordered on Etsy from a vendor in San Diego and (DIY). We bought all the vases and put the burlap on them and put the lavender in the tall vases. The escort cards were paper from the paper source and I embossed them, cut corks and my mom did the calligraphy. Everything that was not rented was a DIY. Even the arbor was made by Doug’s brother. The bars were rented. We did so much of the wedding ourselves.

From the gorgeous bride… Daniel and I met in the 5th grade in elementary school and became best friends around the 9th grade. Our sophomore year of high school, he asked me to the Christmas Dance and that night we officially started dating. Throughout college we long-distance dated. It had been 7 years on July 22, 2012, when he asked me to marry him on a wooden bridge at Pinnacle Mountain, our favorite spot in Little Rock. Complete with balloons, candles, and secret photographers, it was an engagement to remember.

Eight months later, April 6, 2013, we exchanged vows and finally became a married couple. We had a limited budget and a big guest list, so we decided to have a simple wedding outside, because we both love the outdoors. With that in mind, we chose our theme to be a mix of simple, rustic, and woodsy ideas. “Less is more” was our way of thinking. All of the decorations and even the groom’s cakes were made by family and friends. My favorite color since I was younger is yellow, so I chose the colors yellow and grey. Our wedding was at sunset so our guests could enjoy our reception under a lighted-up tent complete with desserts, drinks, and dancing.

From the Bride… Tyler and I grew up together and had been dating for eight years when we got married. Because of this, we wanted our wedding to be a big celebration full of the family and friends who watched us grow up together. When I was younger, my dad use to buy me yellow rose bushes for us to plant in our garden. Ever since this tradition started, my favorite flowers were yellow roses, so of course they were a big inspiration behind the look of our wedding. We tried to tie in old and vintage with  southern and fun ideas. I was able to wear my mom’s veil that she wore when she married my dad. The tables were lined with burlap and lace, which were homemade. We used a lot of tree stumps, old lanterns and blue mason jars to help decorate the tables. The invitations were designed and printed by my best friend and me. For our candy table, all of the jars  were homemade, as well as the “Sweet Love” sign. The candy bar was full of my favorite candies. Our food was all themed around our favorite types of cuisine. We had three food stations — one station had homemade gourmet pizzas and supreme salads, the second station had mini homemade slider burgers with a nacho bar, and the main food station had honey barbecue chicken, spinach dip and pasta salad. My favorite drink is Coca-Cola, so of course we had to a have an old boat full of glass Coke bottles. Our guests really enjoyed the photo booth filled with lots of fun props for them to use. We added a little southern charm using a carriage for the bride to arrive for the ceremony in, as well as the dove release that took place during the ceremony. What made our wedding the most fun was having all of our close friends and family there with us to celebrate our love story.

The proposal: On the morning of January 13th 2011, I woke up with a sweet phone call from Tyler telling me he had a surprise for me. He told me he made a scavenger hunt and ask if I would go to the first spot. The first clue sent me to my car, where he had cleaned it and filled it up with gas.  There was a letter inside explaining how he promised to take care of me and do the sweet little things like clean my car and fill the tank up with gas every day for the rest of my life. The next clue took me to my room where he left bracelets for me and a letter. In this letter he explained how beautiful he thought I was and what an honor it would be for him to spend the rest of his life showering me with jewelry. As his clues lead me around the house, each place had a sweet love letter and a small gift. The final place lead me to a restaurant where he was. We ate dinner at the restaurant and then began to head home. On the way home he stopped at one final place. He took me to our high school football field. He made me stand in the exact spot I was standing when he first saw me eight years ago, then he then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.
