Vintage Glam Winnipeg Wedding

Sometimes I look at a wedding and I feel like my heart is going to come out of my chest. This is just such a wedding. Every sweet detail, every image from Moore Photography and every look between this (ridiculously good looking) Bride and Groom makes my heart sing. As this gorgeous Bride put it, “what’s more beautiful than two people in love?” I can’t think of much. See even more here.

From The Bride…I can now understand why people say your wedding is one of the best days of your life. What is more beautiful than 2 people in love? Kevin and I met in high school at the young ages of 15 and 17 years old. I have to say I feel so lucky to have been able to grow and experience life with him from such a young age. Seeing Kev at the end of the aisle and being surrounded by the most important people in our lives could not have made my heart more happy. The day was perfect from start to finish and we truly would not have changed anything.

Our wedding vision was vintage-glam. I have always had a love for all things vintage and find things like this intriguing. Kev and I started the hunt for the perfect antique items as soon as we got engaged. We picked out the typewriter, old books, watering can, dresser etc. to make our vision come to life while still adding in sparkly and glittery touches whenever we could! (There is never enough sparkle!). Our ceremony was held at an old cathedral style church with a stunning red carpet aisle and the reception took place at an ultra modern venue in Assiniboine Park with glass windows from the floor to the ceiling. My dress was purchased at Kleinfeld and designed by the amazing Pnina Tornai. Lucky me, it was her trunk show that weekend so I actually got fitted and measured by the designer herself! (such a cool experience!). Everything fell into place and Kev and I truly had the wedding of our dreams!

Rustic DIY Wedding in Winnipeg

Personal touches are my absolute favorite thing at weddings. Combine those with my love of food and I’m the happiest wedding guest there. This rustic Winnipeg wedding not only had family style tacos but loved ones also contributed homemade cheesecakes. Simply Rosie Photography captured every delicious detail and you can fulfill your cravings for sweet love right this way.

From Academy Florist… Jewel and Connor are the kind of couple you want to do anything for. They were separated between two countries for much of their relationship and seeing those two become one was almost too much. A day filled with emotion and beauty. It was the most beautiful family wedding you’ve ever seen.

From the carefully woven bracelets to the perfect floral hair piece, Jewel was true to her name and looked stunning from head to toe. Her decor was a combined effort of gorgeous do-it-yourself projects. The seating chart, ceremony backdrop and sweet signage was all done by the bride and her sisters (many of which made up her bridal party)! Her blooms were a combination of garden roses, special fillers, foraged local greens and a few extra special touches. The centerpieces donned some locally grown crab apples as well as multiple varieties of foraged foliage.

The couple chose to have family style tacos as their reception meal, a trail mix bar, and carefully hung twinkle lights to set the mood for a family affair. The desserts were another combined effort by family and friends, all handmade by scratch.

Jewel and Connor are so in love and are finally together forever. A match made in heaven with the perfect compliment of a gorgeous wedding to set them off into their future.

From The Bride…My dress was David’s Bridal. However I bought the dress as a strapless and as you can see it is clearly not a strapless! I wanted to design the top of the dress, so when my mom and I found lace to match the dress, we brought the dress to ‘Anita Pulling Thread’ in Portage La Prairie where I explained to Anita what I wanted and she did not disappoint! She is a phenomenal seamstress!

Two of the bridesmaid’s dresses were from Dillards, two from Neiman Marcus, and four were custom-made to match the other dresses by a woman named Miriam Ramos. Two of the flower girl dresses were from Edens Boutique. My ring was from Dennis Jewelers. Connor designed the ring and brought his design to Dennis Jewelers in San Antonio to create it, it was my dream ring and I didn’t even pick it out or show him pictures!

The catering was from BMC Market, an authentic Mexican restaurant in Osborne. Connor and I went on a date there one time, and loved their tacos so much that we asked if they would consider catering for our wedding… they did! And the food was just fantastic! Cheesecakes were one of our best ideas. Connor and I chose five different flavors of cheesecake and distributed the creation of them to our friends and family.

Centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages were by Academy Florist, and they brightened up everything! I couldn’t have been happier with this choice! Our photographer was Simply Rosie Photography (my dear aunt is the best). Our photo booth was 3 Clicks Photo Booths (so many props, great quality pictures, so accommodating – we LOVED them)!

My hair was done by Annah Goody (A friend of mine who is a student at the Aveda institute & Academy Salon). My makeup was done by many of my bridesmaids and a friend of mine, who is with Mary Kay!

Wedding Highlight Film at The Winnipeg Art Gallery

I know it’s Tuesday, which means we’ve gotten over the Monday blues, but just in case they’re sticking around a little longer this week, I’ve absolutely got the remedy in this beautiful film from Paperback Films. It’s a total dream and the smile that will appear on your face in the first three seconds of this film will stick around for the rest of the day.

From the cinematographer… Kate was well in-tune with what we were creating for people and what it meant. Jeff and Kate both live out in Vancouver. The story of how they got there is fascinating. When we see these two holding hands, crossing over a divide in the garden and walking in parallel to meet again at the end – it is really a strong metaphor to how they ended up together. After a few disappointing years, Kate gave up on relationships. She decided to move out west to begin a new life, where she found herself working at a bank. There, she interacted with customers as they came and went until Jeff came through those doors. Jeff made an effort to keep coming back to her and before they knew it, they were together at last.

If you’ve ever met a guy who is passionate about life, Jeff is that person. The morning of his wedding, though he was a bit shy at first, he quickly forgot about cameras following him around. He’s the type of person who isn’t often caught off guard. His passion lies in fitness and training which goes so well with his character – strong, witty and sharp. When he turned around and gazed into Kate’s eyes for the first time, his heart started pounding and for the first time that day he was at a loss for words. From there on, he forgot everything else in the world and focused on her. They shared this important day with friends and family gathered for a rooftop ceremony, followed by a wonderfully warm reception downstairs at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. It’s always fun working with friends and we had the pleasure of working with Luckygirl Photography that day as well. We hope you enjoy.
