Romantic Fall Vancouver Wedding

This Bride, an avid Downton Abbey fan, took the show’s elegant, almost regal style, and ran with it as wedding inspiration, and I must say, she totally rocked it. The finished results are moody and romantic, luxurious and just downright stunning, all captured for us to ogle at by Dallas Kolotylo. See it all here!

From Dallas Kolotylo Photography“Marsala, the colour of the year for 2015: a naturally robust and earthy wine red, a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth.” If you love the colour of the year and romance you will love this wedding!

From the Bride… Our inspiration for our wedding started off with our favourite season – fall. The leaves changing colours and the nature surrounding the season inspired us to choose our colour scheme. As an obsessed crazed fan of Downton Abbey, we used the vintage feel to inspire the décor, with a new-age twist. We wanted to capture the elegance and gracefulness of those times with hints of modern touches.

We woke up to a cloudy and rainy backdrop and immediately started to do the sun dance in the hotel room – glad to say it worked! The sun came out and it ended up being a gorgeous, picturesque fall day. We feel the colours we chose also complemented the venue beautifully. We kept it small and intimate – only close friends and family joined us for the occasion. The venue was so elegant and romantic, everything we envisioned our day to be. The brick complemented the colour scheme and décor and the elegant setting captured the day so beautifully. We wanted to find a way to incorporate family who weren’t able to make it, so we used old photographs in our décor as a tribute to our loved ones.

Food was the most important thing – we wanted our guests to eat well, drink well and enjoy themselves! It was all about keeping the guests happy. Having our wedding hosted by Brix surpassed our expectations – the food and staff were so friendly and professional, and the venue was absolutely perfect for us. We were so lucky to be able to work with such amazing vendors, all truly professionals. My favourite part of the day was dancing the night away to the sounds of Mark Anthony among other Latin sensations while watching my adorable grandparents who have been married for 65 years steal the show by out dancing everyone there.

We exited to a sea of sparklers into a 1938 vintage Buick limo. It was a perfect way to end a romantic fall night.

Romantic Boho Wedding on Vancouver Island

Barefeet and overflowing breathtaking bouquets can only mean one thing: we have a boho beauty on our hands right here. This summer wedding, captured by Christie Graham, has me embracing a more relaxed outlook for my own upcoming nuptials and Paul Behm’s film just reinforces that belief even more. Settle into your Monday in a much better mood with these pics right here.

From Christie Graham PhotographySurrounded by close friends and family, Jason and Mish recited heartfelt vows in the Groom’s grandparent’s backyard on Vancouver Island in late September. They couldn’t have imagined a more personal place to get married. Hand-crafted wooden benches, the perfect flower arch and countless other details were designed and built by the Bride and Groom in preparation for their summer wedding. Two dogs (one belonging to the couple, the other belonging to a friend) sporting fresh floral collars preceded the Bride down the aisle.

The Bride’s carefree, barefooted boho look (so gorgeous!) and the maids’ mismatching braided updos and dresses complemented the stylish menswear – crisp navy velvet jackets, cream chinos and bow ties – perfectly.

Gold, blush, navy, cream and wooden elements came together flawlessly, decorating the reception venue to perfection. Thoughtful signage, beautiful photo memories, unique furniture vignettes, vintage books, frill balloons, an intricate handmade head table backdrop and cream candles added a sense of romance and intimacy to the space.

From the beautiful Bride… I planned the wedding myself over the course of one year. The Hotel Georgia was the first venue we looked at and the one we ultimately knew we wanted for our wedding reception, as Tim and I often frequent the hotel’s 1927-built lobby lounge for an evening cocktail or two, and we really connected with the warmth and elegance of the hotel. The interesting part was a couple months after securing the space, I found out my grandparents had their wedding reception there as well some 60+ years ago! We chose the celebration pavilion as we are not religious but wanted to be in a close intimate setting with our family and friends, which we felt that venue provided. We really liked that people sat in a semicircle which also made us feel more connected to them as they felt closer to us throughout the ceremony.

The wedding planning process was a lot of fun, everything seemed to fall into place and felt fairly effortless. I chose my vendors based on the connection I felt with them or through the work they had done in the past that resonated with me, and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. I found my dress on the first day of looking – couldn’t believe it, but knew it was the one. I chose my shoes as I wanted a pop of ‘blue’ and the Tiffany blue seemed fitting as that is where our wedding rings are from. The bridesmaid dresses were the first the ladies tried on as well and were such a hit! Loved the versatility in them, very flattering on each body type, which was really important to me that they all felt comfortable.

Best thing I did during my planning process was to hire a planner, even though it was only for ‘day of coordination services,’ the support and care I received well surpassed the ‘day of.’ Alicia Keats and her co-worker Sarah Lino were amazing to work with. Their calm and caring energy, attention to detail, flawless execution was more that I could’ve asked for. I couldn’t have pulled it all off without them.

I can’t really say there was one thing that really stuck out to me, but I can say if I could turn the clocks back and do it all over again I would in a heartbeat. I genuinely LOVED everything about our wedding day, nothing was missed to us. If anything we wish it could’ve lasted longer.

Best piece of advice that helped me through it all: Take 20 minutes or so after the ceremony to yourselves as a newlywed couple to soak it all in – Tim and I got to do this and escape to the amazing penthouse suite they upgraded us to and it was the BEST, as that whole day went by in a blink of an eye!

Rustic Vancouver Spring Wedding

Why are more weddings not held at chic restaurants and wine bars? From Nadia Hung Photography… Victoria and Leon were one of my most amazing couples, I was quite taken by how in love they were with each other after hearing their adorable proposal story involving a Easter Egg Hunt. Victoria had a vision of how she wanted her wedding and she did it beautiful. She designed the wedding herself and found all the best vendors in Vancouver. I was in awe of how everything came together on her wedding day, from her Louboutin wedding shoes, her stunning wedding dress from Bisou Bridal to the beautiful bridesmaid dresses from J. Crew. Her reception was gorgeous with the elements of rustic elegance created by Celsia Florist and Sweet Beginning Vancouver and of course Filosophi Events made the wedding day absolutely flawless.

Colorful Spring Wedding Inspiration at Stanley Park Chapel

It’s been a long winter and to say we’re looking forward to spring would be an understatement, and of all the positive changes the season brings, bright blooms are my favorite reward for the winter wait. Modern Mint Events Inc. and Flower Factory combined forces for this colorful shoot and if these pics by Vivid Moments Photography don’t put you in the mood for spring, I’m not sure what would.

From Modern Mint Events IncWe absolutely love the Stanley Park Chapel so when we decided to work with them on this shoot, we wanted to bring out its potential. It seems that couples who choose this venue keep it bare and neutral and we wanted to show just how much more spectacular it can be with some colour and lush florals.

With the venue being in one of the most beautiful parks in the world, we wanted to take the inspiration from the setting. Spring is uniquely stunning time in Vancouver with lots of colours so that was our inspiration.

On the day of the shoot, we woke up to 2 feet of snow which resulted in us having to move two of our outdoor vignettes inside. What you see is ultimately three different set ups, three dresses and three hair and makeup styles in one location! It was truly spring inspired. You would never know it was -8 degrees outside!
