From The Bride…I had always dreamed of an outdoor setting for our wedding, and take advantage of the gorgeous Vancouver Summers. We were lucky enough to find a venue that allowed an outdoor ceremony in the garden, cocktail hour on the terrace, and a full dinner on the terrace.

Coral, blush, and white, flowers paired wonderfully with the gold accents and coral bridesmaid dresses. The overall feel was romantic and had a vintage touch. As the evening light dimmed the outdoor dinner setting under the stringed cafe lights was gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. Both Brian I wanted to be sure all our guests had an amazing night. The overall setting and our band did not disappoint!

Thank you to everyone who made our date what it was! For all our friends and family who supported us along the way, to all of our out of town guests from across the world we so enjoyed seeing, and to Brian’s parents and grandma for their contributions and support. Thank you to my parents who were so generous in hosting the dinner, bar, attire and décor, you helped make the night perfect! Also to all the talented vendors that made everything pull together and made my vision come to life.

From Epic EventsNaomi and Gavin chose to have a laid-back, super chic, garden party to celebrate their love! Naomi spend countless hours curating the perfect touches and details for their wedding. From Etsy to BHDLN, no details forgotten. They started their day with 200 guests joining them for a lunch time ceremony and reception at London Heritage Farms. Guests were welcomed by a custom watercolor guest book painting that was created by friends of the bride. Guests were encouraged to write their names on the colorful bunting.

After a personalized ceremony conducted by a long-time friend of the family, Pastor Mark Johnson, guests were treated to games and lunch in the gardens of the farm. Food trucks hold a special place in Naomi and Gavin’s heart. While they were dating, they were working a few buildings apart in downtown Vancouver. They would regularly meet for lunch and pick a food truck to visit and find some steps to sit on to eat. It was an obvious choice when selecting a lunch time caterer to pick for their favorite food trucks and serve their favorite dishes to their guests. So after picking up their fresh, local food, guests sat on picnic blankets in the shade or at picnic tables to enjoy!

In the evening, Naomi and Gavin had a more intimate cocktail dinner for their immediate friends and family at Gavin’s parents beautiful private residence. Under patio lighting, guests were treated to a fully catered reception. Lanterns lit the way around the garden and they had provided a beautiful (and delicious!) dessert buffet with cozy places to sit and enjoy the food and music.

Rock Romance + Skull Detailed Vancouver Wedding

A little bit of rock, a little bit of romance, this black and gold decked Vancouver fete is edgy-chic to boot and I’m loving every badass inch. It’s just the dose of enchanting romance that All Hallows’ Eve deserves. Briar Johnston of Epic Events left her gorgeous touch on this day, while All Dolled Up Studio glammed up the striking Bride, who by the way rocked a skull garter, hand-dipped black veil and black lace Louboutins. Love, love, love this entire gallery from Whitney Lane.

From Briar Johnston at Epic EventsJenn and Mike celebrated their love in true romantic, rock-and-roll style. As they spoke their vows under a willow tree their love, friendship and support for each other was extremely apparent and proven by a kiss of epic proportions.

The day began by the girls getting pampered by the talented team at All Dolled Up Studio, also close friends of the brides and guests at the wedding. Jenn took some time to snuggle her pup and sip champagne to take in the excitement that was this beautiful day! Jenn wore an incredible blush toned Reem Acra gown with a custom hand-dipped black and ivory silk veil. It was like nothing I had ever seen and looked absolutely stunning on her.

Guests arrived for a ceremony lakeside under a weeping willow tree at the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens. The bridesmaid all wore their own black cocktail dresses and added a touch of elegance to the natural backdrop. There was silence as they spoke their heartfelt vows to each other. When a musician writes his own vows – there are no words!

The bridal party left for a ocean cruise aboard a private charter and sipped champagne and celebrated!

After the ceremony, the guests strolled through the garden and made their way to the Vancouver dockside restaurant Bridges for cocktail hour. They were treated to a patio Caesar Bar and Oyster Bar.

They included many special touches into their reception including a spin off the traditional “glass clink for a kiss” and asked their guest to instead make donation to the S.P.C.A in honour of their pup Joey.

Dinner and dancing were held in oceanside room at Bridges Restaurant. The food was carefully selected and executed perfectly! Guests were seated at long tables dawned with black and gold details. There was a *hint* of a pirate theme throughout the day and it fit very well with the bride and grooms quirky style. All of the stationery was custom created by their family friend Heather Cranston of Harry Canary Co. and perfectly reflected the off-beat theme.

With dinner finished, guests, many of them musicians, danced the night away! It was a fantastic day full of passionate love and I was so honoured to be a part of it!

Unique Ideas for Kids at Weddings

Call me crazy, but the best weddings I’ve been to have had little ones as guests. The sweetest flower girls and most handsome ring bearers all dressed up in adorable outfits, ready to party. Thanks to the stylings of Sweetheart Events, we’ve got a gallery of inspiring ideas to keep the kiddos not only lookin’ good, but entertained as well. Kelly Brown Photographer captured ALL the cuteness here.

From Sweetheart Events… With a love of rustic charm, stunning nature backdrops and all things cute I was inspired to do something a little different. Instead of focusing on the bride and groom I wanted to focus my attention on the little ones that attend weddings. Children attending weddings is a matter of opinion; however, I love having children at weddings. They bring a sense of silliness, humour and those special moments that you remember for a lifetime. They are the flower girl or the ring bearer where they get a mere few seconds of attention as they walk down the aisle.

We had Kelly Brown Photographer capturing every detail to perfection. Together with Bespoke Décor Rentals, we brought on a team of Vancouver professionals to collaborate with and showcase the idea of children attending weddings in hopes to inspire future couples on fun ideas they can do their little guests and keep them entertained.

Bespoke Décor Rentals has an entire inventory focused on rustic charm, vintage treasures and unique children props for any event including this incredible John Deer truck and flat bed that we used for the children’s buffet filled with chicken fingers and fries, mac and cheese, veggies, popcorn and cake in a jar for dessert (Wow, right?). Our colour palette was grey, yellow, white and green. We wanted to incorporate the beauty of Southlands Riding Club located in Vancouver, BC and use the acres of property and horse trails as our backdrop.

We started off with invites addressed to the children specifically asking them to wear their best dress or bow tie, bring their pj’s and be prepared for a day of fun. We put together a kids only table with a wooden bench and white floral arrangements with yellow and green lollipops. On the place setting- each child’s names spelled out with cookies, an I Spy game and a custom made pinwheel. Tin Can Studio, a lovely retro camper, came on board to create our children’s activity center filled with games, crafts and red tricycles that later transformed into a slumber party filled with fun Ikea cloud pillows, fluffy white blankets and twinkly lights. We created an option for outdoor weddings where there may not be a bed to put the kids to sleep in and allow the parents to continue the party late into the night. This was such a fun option to create!

Tiny Mr. and Bijou Baby, both local children attire retailers based out of Vancouver, dressed our models. Our girls wore the Siena and Angelina dresses, head jewels and babies breath crowns to complete the look and our boys were dressed with dark grey pants, suspenders, white collar shirts, bow ties and a fedora finished off with a tiger finger puppet boutonniere (adorable).

We added a children’s signature lemonade in glass milk jars with grey and white striped straws that the children swooned over and adorable children size ice cream parlor chairs to create a space that made children feel welcome.

Floral Filled Bridal Shower in Vancouver

When I was asked what I envisioned for my bridal shower many moons ago, the answer was flowers – a sea of them. Nothing says bridal quite like loads of pastel blooms and this Vancouver shower is out to prove just that. It’s a tea infused, flower filled party held at the Bride’s studio, Chandelier Wedding, along with the help of super crafty vendors like Written Word Calligraphy, Hello Sunshine Cake Studio and Nadia Hung. Click here for even more.

From the bride… What more fun than having loving and creative friends who are willing to style your bridal shower together? It is my childhood dream to be a creative business owner so hosting this bridal shower at my very own Chandelier Wedding’s Studio Monet was especially meaningful. Every girlfriend who attended this party has been my biggest cheerleader since the beginning of this new endeavor. And it is through this new journey, I developed a very special friendship with Nadia (from Nadia Hung Photography) and Karla (from Written Word Calligraphy). When I shared with the two lovelies my idea of hosting a floral workshop bridal shower, they said “Yes, let’s make it happen!” without second thoughts. It was so fun to have them involved in making this bridal shower so beautiful. It was also a wonderful opportunity to share my greatest passion with my close ones!

Nadia captured this pastel and airy soiree perfectly with tons of laughers and smiles. Karla created a set of soft peach colored stationery to match my pastel colored blooms and vintage teacups. I also have to extend a big thank you to Kristine of Hellosunshine Cake Studio for her gorgeous cake and J&S Catering for the delicate gourmet odeuvre. Every detail of this bridal shower is so perfect that it brings me to tears looking back at the pictures.
