From Spread Love Events…Married at the regal The Vancouver Club, Caroline and Chad desired a beautiful city wedding, full of class and fun! A couple who loves entertaining and celebrating, they wanted to treat their guests to a intimate evening of fine wine, food, good company and dancing. A nod to her future husband’s profession, Caroline collected beautiful geodes which we styled at each guests place setting. And, in honour of her South African roots, beautiful protea florals took centre stage in her bridal bouquet. A touch bohemian meets Art Deco, we loved balancing fun details such as the geodes, protea florals and gold flatware, with the sophisticated timeless interior of The Vancouver Club. Caroline and Chad got the dance party started with a little help from Clear the floor and the sweetest first dance. They had great moves and so much love for each other.

Surrounded by 20 (literally) love-filled balloons Daniel asked Kim about forever and the results are beyond sweet. From Just Because Vancouver…When Daniel reached out to us to plan his proposal, we knew immediately that his over-the-top affection for Kim had to be matched in his surprise engagement. There is no better place than the 48th floor of an $18 million penthouse at Hotel Georgia’s Private Residences. Surrounded by 20 abundantly love-filled Big Love Balls, Daniel stood in the middle of this breathtaking 6,800sqft canvas with sweeping panoramic views. While Kim was obliviously being glammed up for her fake “photo-shoot” in another room, a bouquet of flowers, champagne and hors d’oeuvres were waiting for her on the most romantic balcony in Canada. Daniel wanted something breathtaking – and breathtaking is what he received.
From the Bride-to-be…Late July, my agent Grace had sent me an e-mail confirmation for an upcoming jewelry catalog booking that would be for the brand Olive and Piper, and was set to take place on Wednesday August 12th. The evening before, I packed so many different dresses for the shoot and planned to bring a big 5 pound watermelon for a church picnic after.
On arrival at the Private Residences at Georgia Hotel, I was lead to a room where hair and make-up would take place. I saw signs on the door saying “Make-Up & Hair” and “Photoshoot in Progress”. I was thinking the shoot was set up very professionally! Even more surprising, was when one of my all time favourite make-up artists greeted me, Annie. We both ‘had no idea’ we would be working on this ‘shoot’ together.
When we finally finished, I opened the doors to where the shoot was being held, and noticed massive white blow-up balls that said “love” in bold black letters on them. I stood there, confused. Out of nowhere, my boyfriend showed up from behind one of the Big Love Balls.
Feeling overwhelmed, I saw the most genuine and nervous smile, happy, teary eyes and as he spoke, I heard words filled with so much love. I could barely hear what he was saying, but I knew what was happening. He got down on one knee and I can only pray I said “YES!”. He really got me! What a surprise!
The unbelievable plan was explained to me, how I was ‘punked’ and how the entire shoot was a set up through Just Because Vancouver, a wedding proposal planning company. I was told how it was Daniel receiving my wardrobe photos and selecting the dress I would wear that day. I learned Daniel had went to ask my parents for their blessing the day after I went on my most recent work trip to Singapore. I could not of dreamed of a better surprise engagement. This marks my most treasured and best day alive yet.
Warning: there’s a 100% chance you might spend the rest of your day here. For starters, you know how we love a mismatched bridal party and the fact that these ‘maids all found their gowns on different continents only goes to show that style can be found anywhere. It’s the type of day where you’re bound to fall in love with every detail and thanks to Whitney Krutzfeldt it’s all waiting in THE VAULT!
From The Bride…Booking the Vancouver Rowing Club for our ceremony and reception venue really helped solidify our wedding theme, which I described as “A bit of Gatsby on a sailboat”. Growing up on the West Coast of BC, Brendon and I both love being on the water and we wanted the coast to come through the look and feel of the wedding. We also wanted to incorporate how important our family is, so a lot of our decor was borrowed from family. Some of the brass candlesticks came from my aunts and grandmother. We also used a lot of my late step-mother’s nautical decor, which was a special way to have her with us on our day. We were also lucky enough to have my step-dad marry us, it made for a very loving and personal ceremony.
For the reception, I wanted long tables to emphasize a family dinner in a relaxed but romantic setting. Every little part of our day came together beautifully because of the attentive venue staff, our amazing caterers (the crab cakes!) and beautiful florals. The overall look was exactly what we pictured.
I loved my dress by Australian designer, Anna Campbell, easy to wear with a bit of sparkle. The bridesmaid dresses were all different, bought separately and across continents! The long navy look came together really well, for all seven of them and worked well with the the groom and groomsmen’s grey suits.
I think the highlight for me were the speeches, Brendon’s impromptu black flip! and the beautiful west coast sunset on the dock. Brendon and I could not have wished for a better day and a more perfect celebration. And no rain! Even in the hottest summer on record in Vancouver, you never know!
