Channel Your Inner Princess with This Castle Wedding Inspiration

The word ‘beautiful’ barely does justice for this inspiration from Myrtle et Olive. It’s ethereal and elegant, yet totally approachable and completely chic, and we’ve got every bit of it captured by the incomparable Kurt Boomer waiting paitently for you in The Vault!

From Myrtle et OliveWe strived to create a royal, old-world romance inspired look that merges seamlessly with the Castle and perfectly manicured gardens and grounds of the venue. Refined décor details such as oversized ornate candle holders, antique gold glassware and dupioni silk were added for the feel of elegance. For our floral palette, we juxtaposed the decadence of burgundy and hazel hues that are so in abundance during the fall season of the year with the softest neutral hues. We sought to create a celebration that is truly timeless and utterly classic where one will look back and fall in love with again and again. We worked with the incredible Written Word Calligraphy to craft one of a kind paper goods and details, including custom illustrated programs wrapped in raw silk from FrouFrou Chic, horizontal metallic “Godiva” inspired menus and luxury, embroidered monogram napkins graced on the most delicate dinnerware by Arte Italica from Vancouver-based decorative furnishing, Chintz and Company. You can swoon over the stunning romantic, ethereal Reem Acra gown with an embroidered top and light, refined chiffon to create a serene, graceful ambiance as the bride wonders the garden and hidden places of the castle…

Cast Your Vote: Did This Inspiration Shoot Take Place in Italy or Canada?

Tell me (in all honesty), did you think that this pretty little picture dreamed up by White Event Studio was taken in Italy? Well, Blush Wedding Photography will have you know that said shot was actually taken in the incredibly beautiful CANADA! Proving that you can achieve just about anything, exactly where you are. See the entire stunning shoot in The Vault!

From White Event StudioThe inspiration for this shoot came from one of my favourite countries, Italy- specifically Tuscany. Villa Marco Polo is a venue located in Victoria BC and thanks to its European, al fresco look, bringing our vision to life was effortless. The yellow house created such a beautiful backdrop and the sunny weather together with the scenic gardens really helped us set the mood.

A mix of dusty blue silk and organic linen were perfectly paired up with lush florals, handmade charger plates and copper elements to create a romantic and soft tablescape. One of my favourite inspiration details for this shoot was a 4-tiered ‘cheese cake,’ a delicious option for those who prefer savoury over sweet. For our ceremony dress, we opted for Alexandra Grecco’s delicate “Vivienne” gown; perfect piece for a spring celebration with its beautiful hand embroidered silk petals and spectacular movement. Our reception dress was the super chic yet classy Macabeau high waisted lace skirt with the gorgeous Macdowell top by Houghton.

When designing an event, there is nothing more important to me than being able to take my client’s inspiration and transport the guests through my design; especially when I feel so connected to the main inspiration (Italy) ideas flow naturally!

From The Bride…When Alon popped the question in a carefully planned surprise New York City proposal it felt like a fairytale. Miranda knew their wedding would have a lot to compete with! When it came time to plan their wedding, there was no question that it would be black tie and a nod to another era. Keeping with their proposal anniversary, the two wed one year to the day on May 22 2016 on an overcast Sunday. The venue they chose was the perfect nod to their nostalgic theme, the classic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver in the heart of their home city, Vancouver, British Columbia. Before the ceremony, the couple chose a nearby rooftop with a contrasting industrial backdrop of their city for their first look. The groom wearing a J.Crew smoking jacket and everything else by Suit Supply. The bride in a lace Maggie Sottero gown she customized by adding long sleeves to and covering a sheer bodice, Jimmy Choo shoes, and pearl earrings. Inside their suite, the Lieutenant Governors’ suite on the top floor of the Hotel Vancouver, the bridal party took portraits and toasted champagne before the ceremony. Miranda’s neutral bouquet was a mix of mostly roses, and peonies with lush cascading greenery tied in a hand-dyed silk blush ribbon. Four Bridesmaids wore Asos lace floor length gowns in navy and carried Juliet roses in their natural bouquets.

Guests assembled in the understated ceremony room decorated with natural blooms and chiavari chairs while a violin and guitar duo played the couples favourite songs, a mix of Drake, Frank Ocean, Elvis and Michael Jackson.

A violin and guitar duo played Frank Ocean’s “Thinking about you” for the Brides’ grand entrance with her dad and step-dad escorting her down the aisle.

The ceremony was short and sweet, and non-denominational, integrating Jewish tradition with the breaking of the glass.

The couple had their first dance as man and wife to Leon Bridges, ‘Coming home’ and through the night, guests sipped on their signature cocktails, hers a lavender lemonade and his an old fashioned.

Guests were given the couples favourite candy from Sugarfina, Champagne Gummy Bears, as favours.

All white centerpieces of peonies, hydrangeas and lush greenery garlands decorated tables along with gold and navy agate accents.

The couple made their getaway with a sparkler sendoff at the end of the evening and will set off for their honeymoon for a month-long Italian getaway in July 2016.
