Whimsical

From The Bride…Planning was fairly relaxed, other than a few wedding party glitches and eccentric family members everything went pretty smoothly. We wanted our wedding to be the same, just about the celebration. We wanted it to be whimsical and dreamy. The first thing we did was to pick our colors. I knew I wanted mint and ivory with touches of gold and coral. Relaxed, vintage romance, like a 1950s summer’s afternoon.

The first thing we booked was our venue, and we chose Summerhill Pyramid Winery because of the beautiful setting and many options for photo locales, including a “homestead” and old mint truck. The reception venue was cozy, complete with wooden doors and oak barrels. This combination provided the perfect backdrop for the day. We then found our photographers and the ??vision? all came together. They were just like our dream wedding – fun and full of love.

We decided to have all of the guys in suspenders and slacks, all light and airy, sleeves rolled up. The girls wore mint lace dresses of their own choosing. We weren’t sure how it was all going to come together until the day of, but it worked!

I wore an ivory lace over champagne satin Jim Hjelm gown. It was the first one I tried on and definitely fit the bill. I went with an “old hollywood” look for hair and makeup and I carried a whimsical bouquet of White Mums, Coral & Light Peach Roses & Seeded Eucalyptus.

I wanted soft candle light in mason jars to mimic fireflies around the venue with the sun setting in the background. We had country music, strawberry cupcakes, and little pots of golden honey for guests to take home. We put together a thumbprint tree, handmade quilt guest book and advice cards to help us remember the day.

The result was one that exceeded even our expectations and left us with fond memories for life.

Romantic Spring Wedding at Heron’s Bridge

This wedding has soul. So much in fact, that even though every detail snapped up by Sharalee Prang Photography is steal-worthy to say the least, you can’t help but be drawn to the couple instead. Because they love they have for each other is so beautifully obvious, and there is even more waiting for you here

From The Bride…I have always wanted to have an outdoor wedding and Heron’s Bridge was the perfect location for us. The property is so beautiful and it complimented my spring wedding so well.

For the décor, I chose a simple palette of blush pink, white, and gray with wooden accents and some greenery in the floral arrangements. I also wanted to incorporate some vintage accents such as the mismatched tea cups to add some character. I wanted the lighting to be a bit more dramatic. For this we used three small crystal chandeliers above the head table, two large white chandeliers above the buffet line, twinkle lights wrapped around the trees, and bistro lights hanging from the tent.

Many aspects of the décor where designed and made by family and friends. The wooden center pieces, teacup crates, and cross where all handmade by my grandpa. He put so much work into making them exactly how I wanted. All of the floral arrangements (except for the garland hanging on the head table) where put together by friends and family. They even made my bouquet for me! The chalkboard art was all designed and created by my sister-in-law and all the graphics (programs, favour bags, table numbers, seating chart, etc.) where made and printed by my mom and dad. I am so happy with how it all turned out and so thankful for such supportive friends and family.

Our photographer was also so great and captured our day perfectly. She was so fun to work and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. For our bridal party pictures she brought us to a mall and later to an alpaca farm which I just think is so creative! I love her photography style and her ability to capture the emotion in each moment.

Looking back at my wedding day, everything went so smoothly. There are so many highlights and great memories I will never forget. I wish I could re-live the day over and over again because it was truly the best day of my life.

Vancouver Wedding at Shaughnessey Restaurant

Whenever a wedding begins with a killer bouquet, I know we’re in for something good. And thanks to Umbrella EventsAll Dolled Up Studios and GJ House Flowers my gut instinct didn’t disappoint one bit. From ceremony to reception, this Vancouver “I do” is bursting with pretty moments you can peek in the gallery from Melissa Montgomery Photography for so much more.

From Melissa Montgomery Photography… Norbert and Melissa’s wedding was a mix of vintage elegance draped in colors of purples and greys. The venue was nothing short of spectacular meeting their classy theme all the way that was held at the Shaughnessy Restaurant in Van Dusen Gardens. With a fun wedding party, heartfelt speeches, a slideshow with not a dry eye in the house (including me!) and a bride and groom I felt like I’d known forever, this was one wedding I’ll never forget.
