Pacific Spirit Park Elopement Wedding

A woodland elopement sounds downright dreamy to me. Simple, sweet, stylish, intimate and meaningful – these nuptials captured by Christie Graham Photography are magical to say the very least. It’s yet another example of why elopements will always be my very favorite, and you can see even more here.

From Christie Graham PhotographyWhen a company called Young, Hip & Married marries you, it’s going to be one for the books.

Suzanne and Boyd wanted their wedding to be the perfect reflection of their love. A no-fuss day was a must. Keeping it simple, their guest list consisted of their two mothers to act as witnesses (and their two pups, Ruby and George, adorned in DIY gold bows, of course!). Suzanne and Boyd chose a quiet ceremony spot along a trail in Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver, BC where they often walk their dash hounds. It was a twenty minute walk down the trail, which made for extra butterflies for the bride and groom for their emotional first look before the ceremony.

This wedding was filled with unique elements… Suzanne was adorned in her grandmother’s vintage jewels, two beautiful engagement rings (lucky girl!) and a vintage gown she added to herself. The sewing project wasn’t enough for her, so Suzanne also DIY’s a banner sign and brought along a few sweet treats- cupcakes and champagne- to add to the celebration. Her something blue? Blue fingernails! The couple decided not to exchange rings, but instead read special vows to one another declaring their love and commitment. It was a special day, inspired by the simplicity and beauty of their love and couldn’t have been more perfect.

Summer Inspired Wedding Shoot in the Okanagan Valley

Inspired by summer in the Okanagan Valley, Christie Graham Photography and Created Lovely Events set out to craft a shoot that fully embraces the best parts of a warm-weathered affair. A fresh color palette of pretty pink and peach, organic florals by A New Leaf Floral Design decorating a weathered canoe and the easy elegance of dining al fresco – it’s all folded into this story. From Created Lovely Events…When Christie Graham Photography and I initially met to discuss the inspiration for this shoot, we really wanted to encompass our take on Summer in the Okanagan Valley; fresh peach and pink flowers, grass and trees just beginning to turn green, warm light, and of course the feel of summer arriving by the water.

The tablescape was designed to be fresh and romantic. Based on a wood table with a soft grey table runner, beautiful calligraphy menus and place cards added the pop of color to match the vibrant, flowing centerpiece. Gold candle sticks and gold rimmed glassware added warmth while small terrarium boxes filled with blueberries doubled as favors and decor to complete the look.

When it came to the models, sometimes you meet couples whose love is just so infectious they simply have to be photographed. That’s Meg and Scott. These two modeled so effortlessly, letting the love of their four year marriage really show. Wearing a romantic flowing gown with long loosely curled locks, Meg looked stunning next to her handsome beau in a plaid navy shirt and suit jacket.

The romantic, vine draped canoe and detailed oars pulled the rest of this Spring lakeside shoot together on the rocky beach of Okanagan Lake.

Charming Lakeside Engagement

Probably my favorite part of this job is reading the stories behind the beautiful pictures we see. For Karla and Clement, some of their fondest memories are by the water, so they decided to incorporate it into the lovely engagement photos from Gucio Photography we see here today. There’s just simply nothing better than love. So go ahead and let your heart swell with the tide and head on over to the full gallery here.

From the Bride to Be: As for the thoughts of the engagement session …. I’ve always loved water. Whether it’s being by the sea or scuba diving or playing with watercolors or even the symbolic meanings of water I always just feel connected by it. One time, Clement and I went on a date to go row boating and it was just a surreal experience being out in nature and it just felt like it was just the two of us and the world. Clement is a man of few words, so maybe because it was just the two of us, I thought he had the confidence to talk more while we were on the boat. He shouted on top of his lungs that he loved me, and we just laughed and giggled over it and thought it was just the sweetest, cheesiest thing ever. I just knew that one day we would have to incorporate the rowboat somehow for our engagement photos.

As a calligrapher, painter and designer, I really wanted to incorporate watercolor into our save the date suite. Using lots of water and pale turquoise hues, I came up with a watercolor suite that resembled the two of us. Just like the sea where it can be so calm one second, and completely rocky at times, Clement and I have gone through so much in our relationship but yet we draw strength from it. Instead of clashing waves, we move together and grow together.

I’ve always been in love with the look of film since I was a young child and knew that’s what I wanted for our engagement photos. Kasia and Anna were absolutely amazing to work with and they really made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Every picture was a well-thought-out masterpiece without being rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed the process. We love how they were able to help us exude emotion and it could be seen in the photos. It was a truly memorable experience.
