Chateau Lake Louise Winter Wedding

Winter weddings are some of the most magical, and this one captured beautifully by Orange Girl Photographs is the loveliest example. It’s a wedding where it seems as though the snow fell on cue as if it was just another fabulous detail planned by this stylish pink-Vera Wang-gown-wearing Bride. But the pretty doesn’t stop there, there is even more waiting for you right here.

From the Bride…Chris and I got engaged during a trip to Maui in November of 2011 after two and a half years of dating. It didn’t take us long to envision our dream wedding; we had many ideas by the time we got home from Hawaii. Chris and I wanted our wedding to be intimate, involving only our very closest family and friends, we wanted to impress our guests, and we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us as a couple.

Chris and I agreed that there was no more desirable place for us to get married than Lake Louise. The first day Chris and I spent together we went snowboarding. We both started snowboarding the year we met and spent lots of time learning together on the local hill. Near the end of the season Chris planned a romantic snowboarding getaway to Lake Louise. We both had an incredible time. It was the first trip we ever took together and since then we have returned to Lake Louise every year in March for a romantic getaway. Chris and I adore the majesty of the mountains. Alberta is a beautiful province and we wanted to get married close to home. We chose the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise as our venue for it’s proximity to the lake and its opulent yet unpretentious atmosphere.

I am very creative by nature and I did the majority of the wedding planning with help from Chris and our parents. We were incredibly fortunate that Chris’ parents had offered to pay for the entire day and truly no expense was spared. We embraced the winter theme and incorporated ice and snowflakes in the decor. My three sisters, who I had chosen to be my bridesmaids, and I spent hours crafting personalized luminaries for each guest, a detailed seating chart, a timeline of our relationship, and even coloring sheets for the children.

Our day was a true gift. One of the things I was most nervous about was the weather. I get cold very easily and even though our wedding ceremony was held indoors I was apprehensive about going outside for photos. We woke up to a beautiful blue sky that morning and temperatures just below freezing. The day was warm and the sky was clear until late in the afternoon when heavy snow began to fall allowing us to get some incredible photos.

My sisters and I got ready at the hotel in our Belvedere Suite. A hairstylist from Bottega Salon in Banff came to the hotel to style our hair while we enjoyed a room service breakfast making it a relaxing morning. The bridesmaid dresses were Jim Helm with Midori satin sashes. My dress was a blush colored Vera Wang which I chose because I thought it would standout against the snow in photos. Chris rented Vera Wang tuxedos for the groomsmen from Moores.

Our wedding ceremony was held in the Victoria Ballroom which is the oldest part of the Chateau Lake Louise turning 100 years old this year. The back of the room was draped in white fabric that was illuminated with soft pink lights which created a cozy atmosphere. The aisle was lined with floating candles in oversized vases. We were situated in front of a large picture window with a view of the lake and mountains, and as we said our vows, tiny snowflakes began to fall. Our chaplain Klaus Ohlhoff did an exceptional job. Because neither of us follow organized religion we struggled with planning a spiritual wedding ceremony that was personal and heartfelt. Klaus helped me create a ceremony that was truly reflective of Chris and I, and our intentions for our marriage. To further augment the ceremony we hired a harpist and we had Chris’ talented cousin and my sister sing three songs we had chosen. We also lit unity candles and passed the flame among our guests asking that when they blew out the flame they thought of a wish for our marriage. After the ceremony Chris and I received our guests in the Sun Room where were were served champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.

After the ceremony, we headed outdoors for some beautiful photos on the lake with our bridal party. Late in the afternoon there was even an opportunity to relax in our suite and enjoy even more chocolate strawberries and champagne served by the hotel staff. During that time a blizzard rolled in over the mountains. Big fluffy snowflakes began to fall. Our photographer Kirstie Tweed of Orange Girl Photographs knocked on our door asking that we extend the outdoor photo session further. She was very excited to be shooting in a real life snow globe. It truly was a winter wonderland!

The cocktail reception was held in the Red Room just outside the Victoria Ballroom. The heavy snow, which was visible through large picture windows, and dim lighting created a cozy atmosphere and our guests enjoyed appetizers and signature drinks, “the Chris” and “the Cass” which was poured through an ice luge.

Our reception was also held in the Victoria Ballroom. The room was stunning and all of our vendors did an incredible job setting up. We had “quartz” style ice sculptures surrounded by lush floral wreaths and even a large ice bar. I crafted personalized luminaries for each guest which were used instead of place settings. The professional draping and lighting completely enhanced with room. The lights were soft golden pink during dinner, and during the speeches and dance, transformed to vivid jewel tones. It was truly breathtaking.

The meal and service the the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise put on was incredible! We chose a plated three course meal with Toblerone chocolate fondue in addition to wedding cake for dessert. After a spectacular meal we enjoyed heartfelt speeches from our friends and family. One incredible surprise that Chris had for me was that he had secretly videotaped his proposal and kept it hidden from me the entire fifteen months we were engaged. At the end of our slideshow he added the video from the proposal. It was incredibly touching and had many of our guests in tears.

We hired the RaNSom band to play at our dance. The band did an incredible job and our guests enjoyed dancing the night away. The party went so late that we had to move everyone including the band downstairs into the hotel saloon once our venue closed! Chris and I both agree that our wedding day was the undisputed best day of our lives and everything we had dreamed of. Our wedding was truly personal, heartfelt, fun, and most importantly, a celebration of our lifelong commitment to each other surrounded by loved ones.

Elegant Winter Wedding at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

We had our first snow storm of the season over the weekend, and it got me in the mood for all things winter. And winter weddings? Well, they are some of my favorites. Particularly when they happen to be as stunning as this one designed by Jennifer Bergman Weddings at the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. It’s picture after picture from Sharon Litchfield of pure winter perfection, and you can see it all right here.

From Jennifer Bergman WeddingsThere’s something about The Chateau Lake Louise that makes it such a special place to visit. There’s an atmosphere of serenity like you’re removed from the busyness of the everyday. Add snow-capped mountains and crisp blue sky and it’s winter wedding perfection!

Jenny and James chose to marry a few days after Christmas so that visiting family members from the UK could be in attendance at this special occasion. Both their ceremony and reception were held in the Victoria Ballroom, where a warm stone fireplace served as the backdrop for their nuptials and beautiful sounds of cello and violin filled the room.

Outfitted in timeless black and white, the gorgeous wedding party braved chilly air for picturesque views prior to returning to the ballroom for cocktails. The reception design was classic with a dash of whimsy. We incorporated mixed metallic decor elements – pewter frames, silver julep vases, gold chiavari chairs and charger plates – to enhance the elegance and formality of the space.

Jenny and James added personal details to their wedding to make the celebration even more meaningful:In lieu of favors, the couple made a donation to the Humane Society as they have a shared love for animals. A family member recited a special poem during the ceremony. The wedding cake design was based on Jenny’s grandparents’ cake and a photo of the original was placed on the cake table along with it.

Alberta Wedding at The Fairmont Chateau by Jennifer Bergman Weddings

If I could have a wedding do-over, I’d totally snatch up my hubby and head to this gorgeous chateau overlooking the mountains and crystal clear blue lake. It makes for the ultimate backdrop in which to say I Do. Planned and designed by Jennifer Bergman Weddings, it’s rustic nature at its finest. Click here for more.

From Jennifer Bergman Weddings… We had the pleasure of working with Shelley and Stewart to plan their beautiful Rocky Mountain wedding. With a stunning turquoise lake as a backdrop, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was an obvious choice. It started drizzling right before the ceremony but this didn’t phase Shelley one bit as she made her way down the aisle on her father’s arm. It actually turned into an adorable photo-op as both fathers proudly held umbrellas over their children as they united in marriage. Following the ceremony, guests congregated indoors for a champagne reception. Bel Canto Strings played beautiful classical versions of the bride and groom’s favourite songs by Coldplay and Snow Patrol.

The Victoria Ballroom was decorated to enhance its rustic yet elegant ambiance. Table centres featured beautiful wooden lanterns surrounded by candlelight and mason jars filled with green hydrangea, cotton, ivory roses and scabiosa pods. A comfortable lounge seating area was setup near the dance floor where guests enjoyed warm beverages from a specialty coffee bar. The next day, before departing on their Croatian honeymoon, Shelley and Stewart treated their guests to an experiential brunch at Lake Louise Ski Hill.

Lake Louise Wedding from Orange Girl Photographs

If you’ve always dreamed of having an elegant winter wedding, look no further for some seriously stunning inspiration. After their romantic engagement in Paris, they planned an equally fabulous wedding in the mountains. With one seriously amazing black dress. Beyond amazing actually. Orange Girl Photographs was there to capture this fabulous black-dress-worthy affair as it happened, and you can see it all right here

From Orange Girl PhotographsJennifer and Anthony held a unique and elegant intimate wedding at The Post Hotel in Lake Louise, Canada. The Post Hotel is known for its stunning mountain location, impeccable service and impressive wine collection. I find The Post Hotel to be especially magical in the winter when they create an outdoor ice rink and dress the hotel for the holidays.

Jennifer and Anthony have spent some memorable weekends at The Post Hotel and on their ice rink. They chose the ice rink for their first look location and wedding photographs where Jennifer surprised Anthony with a wedding ring she chose for him from Tiffany’s. After taking photographs outside in the below freezing temperatures, the bride slipped upstairs to her room where a warm bath awaited her, and Anthony joined their guests for a special wine tasting. I loved that Jennifer and Anthony created a unique experience for their guests by inviting them to a private wine tasting just after checking into the hotel and before their evening ceremony. It was a lovely way for the guests to visit and learn about wine while sampling a special collection of wine hand-selected by Jennifer and Anthony.

Jennifer’s nephews walked her down the aisle with Porsche cars in hand. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a candlelit champagne toast with the couple before heading downstairs for an intimate dinner. Their wedding cake was designed and created by the pastry chef at The Post Hotel, who spent weeks sketching the Eiffel Tower in detail to be able to recreate it in chocolate for the couple. The wedding cake was chosen to be the shape of the Eiffel Tower because Anthony proposed to Jennifer in Paris on the Alexander Bridge at the stroke of midnight when the tower is lit up and sparkles. The groom also celebrated his 40th birthday on their wedding day, so Jennifer carefully worked with hotel to organize a surprise birthday party for the groom in the hotel’s cozy pub following dinner, where a DJ waited to start the birthday party. Jennifer and Anthony’s intimate wedding reflected their love of the mountains, good food and wine and the company of dear friends.

Lake Louise Winter Wedding from Orange Girl Photographs + Lynn Fletcher Weddings

Those emerald green Fendi shoes. The shoes that were longed for by the bride (and, honestly, me), bought by the groom, and that inspired the ambiance of this gorgeous Canadian winter wedding. We felt it was the perfect soiree to share on this special holiday. The fantastic green, inspired by The Shoes, the romantic mountain setting, covered in fresh snow, and the love and joy radiating from the lovely images from Orange Girl Photographs leave us just the perfect amount of jolly this morning. Planned and designed by Lynn Fletcher Weddings, this wedding is perfect. Grab your candy canes, and click here to peruse the gallery!

From Orange Girl Photographs … Mike loves to ski and Leah loves to tag along so choosing Lake Louise for their romantic wintery winter was the perfect choice for Leah and Mike. Leah and Mike love to travel and on a recent trip to Las Vegas Leah found a pair of emerald green shoes that she loved. She tried them on and then put them back deciding they were too expensive. Mike returned later in the day to buy the shoes for Leah because he could tell how much she loved them. The shoes were part of the inspiration for their wedding colours. Lake Louise is also known for it’s beautiful green colour which could be seen peeking out from below the ice.

Leah and Mike were given a particularly beautiful snowy winter day that made the perfect backdrop for photographs. Inside Chateau Lake Louise lots and lots of candles and warm amber lighting helped created a cozy feeling inside for their ceremony and reception.

In the couple’s speech they spoke about the fact that they had been together for six years before getting married and that made their wedding special to them because everyone in the room had known them as a couple for years. One of the things that they love to do with their close friends is attend music festivals every year together so it was fitting that the band was friends with the couple and was a highlight of their evening.
