Sun Filled Engagement in Ibiza

Your wanderlust is about to be kicked into major overdrive with this engagement session in Ibiza. It has all the makings of a beautiful shoot – wildly gorgeous views, great resort wear, a hammock and Jimena Roquero behind the lens. And if these pretty images are any indication of what’s to come, it’s pretty safe to say this couple’s wedding is going to be off the charts.

From the Photographer… Sophie and Christian will get married in Ibiza next year and they wanted to get some pictures for their wedding invitation. Sophie is from Montreal and Christian is Swedish, they met in Paris and they both live in London but they wanted to have their engagement session in Ibiza where they own a gorgeous house with stunning views to the Mediterranean Sea. For their Save the Date, they decided to go with two different styles of picture: the first one would be a romantic image representing the natural wonders Ibiza has to offer. The second one would represent the other side of the island, the party one, so Sophie and Christian jumped into their bathtub and went a little crazy celebrating with balloons and champagne!!

Elegant Ibiza Wedding

An elegant Ibiza wedding with just a touch of Hollywood glamour sounds like what I need to be doing this weekend, but since that’s not yet on my agenda, I think I’ll spend some quality time soaking in this gorgeous affair captured by Gypsy Westwood Photography.  A breathtaking wedding in every which way, it’s a stunning setting meets sweet pastel hues meets one seriously adorable family.  See it all here.

From Gypsy Westwood Photography… This wedding was all about the details. I know Emma had worked very hard on getting the perfect combination with the setting, venue, colours, dress, flowers, tables settings, favours, tags, drinks food (all of it really), not missing out her beautiful self, her son and, of course, husband-to-be!

The venue is actually a friend’s house that is rented in the summer months and is just quite spectacular (the size of the pool, the view over Tagomago). It is called Las Nubes, which it is, in the clouds set high on a hill!! Where they held their ceremony with the view in the backdrop, soft light with the light blue (half stormy) sky and sea with sun breaking through was stunning for my photos!! And to top it off the speeches made you want to cry!

From the Bride… Before we’d even met (and a decade apart), the island of Ibiza was where we both had our first ever holidays away from our parents when we were 17… Andrew’s trip being in 1988 and mine in 1998! Both trips were a very different experience to the side of Ibiza we have since come to love, but the seed was planted nonetheless! We have since re-visited the island as a couple and with friends and can’t deny there is something special about the place. There are frequent moments when you look out at the crystal clear waters, beautiful sunset or when you are chatting with friends over a BBQ that you think that this is what you have waited all year for – times like these, in a place like this. That feeling is something that we wanted to share with our closest friends and family on our wedding day and to enjoy the moment and location that we love so much together.

I had been very much inspired by 1920′s-1930′s Hollywood glamour. I didn’t want it to be too glitzy though and loved the juxtaposition of touches of glamour centred in a naturally beautiful surrounding; an embellished beaded gown and statement red lip (thank you Elizabeth Taylor!) with the simplicity of the wedding set up and tables with crisp white table cloths and a small natural wildflower centre. This really let the natural beauty of the location take centre stage but added a little extra sparkle to fit the occasion.

It sounds so cliché, but the day was everything we’d hoped for, so much time spent on detailing really paid off; studding starfish with crystals until 1 in the morning, handwriting every luggage tag for the table plan, sticking on tiny bits of vintage lace and lining a vintage suitcase with a wallpaper whose colour matched the bridesmaid dresses exactly – things that as I was doing them I was cursing myself for, but I knew it would make all the difference to the overall feel of the day. The whole is only as impactful because of the sum of the parts! There had been huge thunder and lightening storms all week and we were planning on an outside ceremony around the pool so our fantastic wedding planner had quickly whipped up a Plan B in case the heavens opened, but they didn’t! There was beautiful sunshine but not too hot, truly perfect. Now, 3 months on I am still obsessed with looking through the photos and I long to have the day over again. It took us seven years and a little boy before we tied the knot so it was most definitely worth the wait.

Modern Clifftop Ibiza Wedding

If you asked me to pinpoint the most perfect wedding location I’d ever come across, it’d be this stunning clifftop in Ibiza, Spain. No if ands or buts about it. With views that could leave you speechless and a couple so madly in love it’ll completely melt your heart, there’s a chance once you enter the gallery from Polly Alexandre, you might never want to leave. Get started right here.

From Polly Alexandre… This is Nick & Xuca’s relaxed Ibiza wedding, held at a gorgeous Moroccan inspired villa overlooking the sea in Cala Carbo in the South West of Ibiza. Their spiritual ceremony took place on the clifftop high above the sea and opposite the mythical rock of Es Vedra in Ibiza (the third most magnetic place on Earth!). Nick is an architect with his own practice, Data Nature and has designed shops for Manolo Blahnik, and Xuca works in finance. The couple met in Ibiza at a lunch thrown by mutual friends, Nick proposed in Ibiza and naturally there was only one location that their hearts would allow them to hold their wedding!

Their beautiful baby girl Olympia was at the heart of their celebrations…. and Aman Cara, a private villa, set in the wild rocks and cliff tops above the sea, a spectacular and dramatic location. The bride wore Pucci, a mosaic tiled fountain in the villa’s garden inspired the stationary suite designed by the super talented Louise Richardson, and Eat Ibiza served fresh Mediterranean salads, grilled prawns and more from the poolside BBQ. Naturally being Ibiza, festivities continued into the small hours with a live bongo player and saxophonist playing whilst guests danced around the pool.

From the Bride… Although we both work long hours, planning our wedding was a fun and relaxed affair, with lovely trips to Ibiza and meeting amazing professionals who helped us design our perfect day. From Louise’s stunning invitations and stationary, to Vikki’s spectacular wedding planning and divine catering, to Polly’s stunning photos on real film that captured the mood of the day and the dramatic weather so beautifully, and ending with our saxophonist Laura who made the evening. Sharing the experience with our daughter Olympia and our families and friends was so special and I know every single person felt incredibly spoiled and charmed on the day, especially myself and Nick!

Amante Beach Club Wedding

This is one of those crazy gorgeous weddings you didn’t know you had to have, but once you lay your eyes on its pure, unadulterated beauty, it’s literally all you can think about.  The sort of wedding that does as much for Spain’s tourism bureau as it does for our galleries.  In other words, it will fill up your entire day (nay, week) with soooo much pretty, you won’t know what to do with yourselves.  See it all captured by Ana Lui Photography in the full gallery.

From Ana Lui Photography… It was an amazing day! Emma and Paul were such a lovely, calm and easy-going couple that taking photos on the day of the wedding was an easy task.  Their kids got involved a lot. It was a stunning family celebration.

Emma got ready at super cool rustic country boutique hotel called Can Domo which was only 5 min drive from their venue, Amante.  Amante overlooks a cute little bay and is situated on a cliff top.

The decorations were fab, food was great and the day just flew by so fast I didn’t want to say goodbye.  It was simply charming!

Travel Inspired Destination Wedding on Ibiza from Fusion Photography

When a couple this stylish ties the knot, you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to be a gorgeous day. Like one of those days where uber-chic details and downright amazing moments combine in a crazy awesome love-fest.  It’s that good, people.  And when you add in a breathtaking (and I mean breathtaking) Ibiza setting and one moment after another captured by Fusion Photography, it’s the prettiest thing you’ll see all day.  Join me in the gallery for more.

From Fusion PhotographyThis was a wonderful wedding on the sunny dance island of Ibiza. It is our favourite wedding from the past year! Aime and Adrian flew from their home in the UK to have the wedding of their dreams in Ibiza, planning the whole thing to ensure it was exactly as they both envisioned. From the stunning hilltop villa, where the boys got ready, to the David Fielden wedding dress, everything was chosen very carefully. Adrian won best dressed male on the day with his custom tailored electric blue Hugo Boss suit, whilst Aime’s Chloe Green shoes had most ladies looking to the ground throughout the day.

The ceremony took place on a tranquil cliff-edge overlooking the Balearic Sea, in the uber-famous Amante Beach Club, and the mighty-talented Warren Cahill from ‘Rat on the Roof’ took care of the tunes for the bride’s walk down the sandy aisle, as well as the reception. The theme on the day was ‘travel’ with the stationery depicting destinations or plane tickets, with the guests names on them. World famous DJ Filthy Rich flew into the island to take care of the party side of the music afterwards. All in all, this wedding had the couples stamp all over it, whilst also paying homage to what the island stands for.
