Soft Pink + Gold Barcelona Wedding

You might not be surprised to learn that the bride behind this ahhh-mazing wedding? Well, she’s none other than European fashion blogger, Mes Voyages à Paris. Along with Bodas De Cuento helping plan by her side, she pulled off the ultimate lovefest complete with a Rosa Clará gown fit for a princess. See every dreamy pink and gold detail captured by Joseba Sandoval sitting pretty right here.

From The Bride…Even before becoming engaged I knew my wedding would breathe the nostalgia of the past. It had to be rustic and vintage but with the glamour of Paris – our favorite city.

The first thing we did was to decide to work with Bodas de Cuento, our wedding planners, who helped us during the organization and wedding design process. Then, we worked to find the perfect venue for the reception which could achieve this mix of feelings and contrasts. When I saw that classic Catalan country house from the 18th century, Masia Ribas, I realized it was the place for us. It had to be there. The gorgeous forest would be the perfect and bucolic rustic scenery and the house will allow us to achieve that combination of a vintage, romantic and glamorous atmosphere for the moment of the dinner.

Then we knew we had to think of colors. Colors were really important for us thinking about our wedding decoration and ambience. We needed some golden to evoke that palace air, off-white and brown would get the vintage-rustic atmosphere and pale pink would wrap everything in an atmosphere of romance and sweetness.

As a fashion blogger, I have worked with many photographers and to me was really important the style of photography I wanted for our wedding memories. When I found Joseba Sandoval of Romance Weddings, I knew that him and Mar had to be part of our big day. I discovered their work on Style Me Pretty and it was love at first sight. They do a magical work, and it was just a dream for us to count on them to shoot our big day. We also found Basilico Studio for our wedding film and they were able to perfectly capture all the emotions experienced that day.

After the colors, we wanted to set the tables decor and we tried different combinations of chair, shallow dish, cups … at first moment it was not easy because I already had the picture on my mind of what I was looking for, but finally we found the perfect one. When I visualized the pink linen tablecloth and golden Napoleon chair, I just could imagine how would the full salon look like, and all the other wedding stuff was really easy to find: the flowers, the details and even my dress.

The dress was almost the last thing I decided a few months before the wedding. Once again, I had to unify vintage, glamour, rustic, princess dress but far away from the obvious style. Working in fashion, I just wanted to feel very unique with my own personal touch. It was a Rosa Clará amazing gown in which creation process I could participate: strapless dress and cut at the waist, crafted in rustic ottoman silk skirt with a skirt full of scarves and open back. Also, for the church I wore a French bolero in guipure lace with mounted sleeves and boat neckline. The veil was silky tulle, off-white color. I also chose non-traditional wedding shoes -iconic YSL Tribute sandals in pale pink, a gift from my lovely sister. The tiara and the belt were made by order because I wanted something gold in my dress just to be paired with the golden details in the tables.

For the party I wore a second wedding dress: strapless pink tulle gown of Hellenic inspiration. And to continue with the decor, outdoor details like a large chandelier that hung from an ancient tree were those little things that made the wedding be our dreamed wedding. The photocall in pink and with an Instax camera created a magical and totally vintage corner. Like the corner of the seating plan, made of wooden boards hanging from an ancient tree. Like the swing, an element that was the delight of the guests and, at the same time, fulfilled a dream.

The floral design was made by Pedro Navarro, his work is really gorgeous and he worked in an amazing way our inspiration. My wedding bouquet was made also by him, with hydrangeas in pink and pistachios tones, branched roses in pastel champagne and pink English roses, white and pink astilbe and Italian green eucalyptus. The bouquet was holded by a piece of vintage lace that I found in Paris, and dated from the 20’s (Belle Époque). Like a secret treasure I could hold in my hands with tons of love while I was walking down the aisle, with Beyonce’s Ave Maria, to be reunited with my future husband, at Santa Maria Reina de Pedralbes church, in Barcelona.

Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter Love Shoot

If there is anything more romantic than strolling through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona hand in hand with your love while enjoying the last sunny rays of the day, I really, really don’t know what it is. In fact, I’m absolutely convinced by these pictures from Veronica Hansen Wedding Photography, it doesn’t exist!

From the lovely couple… When people ask us how we met, they’re often surprised when I tell them that Ollie was my 8th grade crush. Being from a small town in Texas, it is not uncommon for love stories to begin in high school. I know that this is the part where most hopeful romantics are expecting that to be our story as well… however, our love story had a bit of a sense of humor and decided to make us wait nearly thirteen years to actually get passed the opening credits. After graduating high school we went separate ways for College and experienced different journeys, until one fateful day in 2011 when the magic of technology brought our worlds back together. A simple catching up message opened the door for what would become the love of our lives. By the time our paths came back as one, Ollie was stationed overseas and our relationship became rooted around traveling to see one another. Therefore it seemed only natural to have our photos, capturing our overwhelming love towards each other, taken while traveling.

For our anniversary we were delighted to take a cruise through Europe, which would land us in Barcelona, Spain for one day. I ardently admired Barcelona based wedding photographer, Veronica Hansen’s brilliantly talented work and had previously mentioned to Ollie that it would be my dream to have her as our wedding photographer and to do our engagement photos. I worried that the odds of her being available on the one quick day that we would have in Barcelona were slim, but we knew that we had to at least try. When I told Veronica our story, she went above and beyond to make our dream come true for us while we were in Barcelona. Because we were all three in different countries during the planning of our photo session, we used Skype to arrange the logistics. Veronica and I Skyped one blissful afternoon and I was blown away at how deeply she cared about not only our story but also telling it through her photos, she took every little detail to heart and what came out of that is nothing short of perfection.

The day of our photo session was nearly effortless, with the exception of my less than stellar choice of wearing very high-heeled shoes on the centuries-old cobblestoned sidewalks, in the middle of the summer at that. Ollie and I are somewhat old souls and have a great appreciation for gothic architecture, churches, and little cafés, so when we learned of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona it could not have been more perfect. What we could not have expected was that Veronica had taken every single detail that I had mentioned in our Skype meeting and had spent many hours working to make the day truly unforgettable and to bring all of the details of our dream photo session into reality.

Our day began by meeting Veronica at pre-determined location near the docks where our cruise ship was docked; she had even taken the liberty of creating a map equipped with pictures for us to easily locate her. We spent some time in the city just enjoying the beautiful scenery. Once it was time for our photo session, Veronica led the way as we walked into the Quarter, which was set aglow by the picturesque beams of the sunset, all the while teaching us all about the city of Barcelona; it was as though we had an amazing photographer and tour guide all in one! Our photo session went seamlessly, except for us having to stop every so often for me to change shoes—ladies, bring a pair of flats when walking in Barcelona! We ended our day with a cup of gelato, a new and growing friendship with Veronica, and photos that still to this day take my breath away.

I’ve often heard that true love is like fine wine, it gets better with time…as history has shown in our story, every passing day only gets better and these pictures capture that sentiment flawlessly. I could not have asked for anything more.

Elegant Barcelona Destination Wedding

You know it’s a beautiful wedding with just 5 minutes and 35 seconds of a (stunning) highlight film grabs on to your heart and tears stream down your face. With Yes, I Do behind the planning, I knew I’d love it, but after watching the intimate emotions captured so well by FOCUSLAB, I’m floored, and quite honestly, wiping tears from my eyes.

From FOCUSLAB… Alex and David have lived a lifetime separated just by some blocks in their city, New York, going to the same parties, same restaurants, with some common friends, but without running into each other, but as in all great stories there is something unexpected happened, they met in Spain and this country became important in their story, so they decided to get married there. Alex and David were preparing a wedding that reflected their day-to-day: full of details, stylish and a big celebration for their friends, who have traveled from the States (and all over the world) to be with them. The trip is an important point in their history so they decided to give their guests a unique experience of traveling and visiting a new city.

Furthermore we have to add the warmth of the vows that they read each other and the speeches that their guests, basically best friends and family, gave and that helped us to explain the story of this couple.

Barcelona, Spain Bridal Shoot from Sansaara Photography

This bridal session is like the prettiest thing I have ever seen.  And I am not kidding.  It’s a breathtaking Barcelona backdrop meets a stunning Santos Costura gown meets some crazy gorgeous stylings from Belle & Chic… and you know what?  It’s all kinds of amazing.  The kind of amazing that will make you want to grab your honey, fly to Spain and shoot some serious pretty with the oh-so-talented Sansaara Photography.  See it all right here in the full gallery.

From Sansaara Photography… The location of this bridal shoot was the historic Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, Spain. Esther Friedrich of Belle and Chic assisted on the shoot. The dress was made by rising Catalan haute couture designer Santos Costura. The styling was kept fairly clean and simple given the location, making the bride the main focus of the images.

West Chester, Pennsylvania Wedding from Alison Conklin Photography

This wedding is all about the beauty of nature – kind of the perfect way to celebrate May Day, don’t you think? With a mix of peonies, mint hues and lavender sprigs a plenty fashioned by Table Art, these details really set the scene for an elegant, ethereal feel just as the Bride had envisioned. And with images captured by Alison Conklin, those Bride-to-Be musings were brought to life in the form of beautifully photographed pictures. See them all right here.

From the Bride… I still can’t believe how magical the day was. I remember all of the details perfectly. Mike and I were elated all day and just kept asking each other if it was really happening. I felt, and still feel, like the luckiest girl to have had married my best friend that day. Mike is truly the kindest and most loving boy I know. I had no idea where to start planning for a wedding. Growing up, I was never the little girl who dreamed about her wedding day. I was out looking for frogs or playing street hockey with my brother and the neighborhood boys. I didn’t know where to even start the planning process, but it really came together and was surprisingly easy and stress-free. I went in to it open minded and excited, reminding myself what the day was about and not to get caught up in all of the wedding planning craziness!

I had no theme or particular color scheme in mind. I just went with what I love and wanted the details to reflect me as best as possible. I love nature, so I went with a lot of earthy tones and textures. I also knew I wanted to use wild flowers and incorporate herbs somehow.   I wanted it to have a serene and ethereal feel. I explained what I had in mind to my florist (Christina from TableArt) and she literally made my vision a reality. She was wonderful. I loved everything from the moss on the tables to the sprigs of rosemary in my bouquet.

I never want to forget anything about my wedding day, and I know I never will thanks to the most amazing photos I have from Alison Conklin. She captured every moment perfectly and gracefully. Not only is she so talented but she is such a pleasure to work with. I can’t imagine the day without her. She was so calming and sweet, and just amazing! There was just so much love all around the whole day. Everything was perfect – the flowers, the music, the food. The best part by far was sharing all of those special moments with our families and friends.
