Personality Filled DIY Wedding in Galicia, Spain

At its very core, this wedding captured by Jimena Roquero is gorgeous. The florals, the setting, the couple – it’s honestly breathtaking from start to finish. But beyond all that, you seem to get to know the couple with each stunning image. With it’s somewhat boho, somewhat vintage, somewhat classic feel, this couple packed their personality into every heartfelt detail, and you can fall in love with all of it here.

From Jimena RoqueroAlthough they kept some classic touches, Mar and Maurix wanted a different wedding so they personally took care of every single detail of the wedding.

Since one year earlier, Mar collected all kind of jars and bottles, which she painted and turned into the stunning table decoration she displayed at her wedding. And she created a different design for every single number of the table settings! They are both graphic designers and have a great artistic sense, and they used it to create and design everything involved, from the invitations, tote bags as favor gifts, to all the stationary, etc… Mar even designed her own dress which was executed later by the designer Sole Alonso. Mar know she would like to wear a simple dress with an original touch, so she wore some traditional knickers underneath!

Mar always dreamed of getting married in a ranch, but when she fell in love with Maurix, a boy from the Spanish region of Galicia, she decided she would change the ranch for a “Pazo” (the traditional Galician house”). However, since they are both big fans of the American culture, they rented an old Cadillac to drive them to the reception to surprise all their guests. Mar also had another surprise for Maurix: she brought to the wedding one of Maurix’s favorite bands to play a little live show during the cocktail hour. Of course, Maurix was in tears when he saw that!

Classic + Elegant Marbella Wedding

Kudos to this stunning Chicagoan duo. With the help of Rachel Rose Weddings, they planned their Marbella destination wedding from afar and the result is blend of American and Spanish tradition right down to every last detail. Lace complemented by papel picado stationery from Bella Figura and chandeliers floating above blush floral topped tables… it’s a fresh take on the classic and we’re in love with every bit from Anna Gazda.

From Rachel Rose WeddingsRachel and Mike were one of our brave couples who plan their long distance destination wedding without ever visiting the venue first. Luckily to date we have never had a disappointed couple and Rachel and Mike were no exception. With them both living in Chicago but with destination weddings in the family, their siblings have all married in wonderful destinations such as Hawaii and Italy, the competition was on to out do the rest! Rachel and Mike had both visited Andalucia in previous years and had fallen in love with the area and once they found Cortijo Pedro Jimenez the deal was done. Being our first all American wedding with guests travelling such a long distance the pressure was on to make a truly memorable affair and week long celebration. Rachel wanted a classic and elegant affair but with some subtle Spanish influences so we settled on papel picado details on the stationery and delightful hand painted Spanish pottery vases for the centerpieces coupled with beautiful florals and classic vintage touches. These wonderful images from Anna Gazda at Limelight brought a big smile to our face and a tear to our eye when they landed on our desk as she really did capture what a wonderful days it was and just how deeply in love with each they are.

Hacienda Wedding Romance in Spain

My biggest weakness when it comes to wedding venues? Gorgeous old-world Spanish architecture. Case in point: The Hacienda, and the backdrop for this insanely stunning soiree from Rachel Rose Weddings. It might be the worn pale tiling, the subtle cracks in the stone or the weathered wooden doors… but it feels as if the walls have seen countless generations of love. And etched right in, is this sweet day.

From Rachel Rose Weddings….Victoria and Richard were struggling to choose between our wedding venues for their big day but once they visited The Hacienda their hearts were set. They had decided on a rustic but romantic wedding and The Hacienda was the perfect setting for this with its surrounding andalucian countryside yet elegant and slightly grand main house. The wedding took place in early May and the weather was perfect for an alfresco ceremony which took place in the gardens of the house. We chose a colour palette to suit the backdrop of the venue with beautiful David Austin roses in soft peaches and creams with a few succulents to add some depth and contrast. This flower choice was then continued with the rustic styled centerpieces and buttonholes. With a classical Spanish guitarist setting the tone as the wedding guests arrived for a welcome reception of Sangria, the day was ready to start. Victoria looked beautiful in her very romantic Pronovia dress and after the ceremony the guests moved to the pool area for champagne and canapés followed by dinner and dancing long into the night in the beautifully decorated and romantically lit courtyard – a party to remember!
