Rustic Autumn Park Wedding in Perth

With rich autumnal hues and charming rustic details, the romance of these sweet Hyde Park “I Do’s” can only be rivaled by the Bride and Groom’s OMG-worthy engagement story, involving love rekindled after 5 years apart, a Spanish holiday, and a wishing well (seriously!). This gorgeous gallery from I Heart Weddings is not one to miss, especially if you’re keen on a very dapper Groom in a well-cut suit!

From I Heart Weddings… A relaxed autumn park wedding with vintage and natural details and one very dapper groom! Tegan and Simon spent five years apart (her in Perth, him in London) and then decided to meet up in Spain for a holiday to just to see if the flame was still burning between them. Then they were engaged within a week! Simon proposed on a trek. When they stopped next to a wishing well Simon told Tegan to look right down to the bottom of the wishing well and when she turned around he was on one knee.

Simon’s two best friends decided to fly to Perth all the way from London to surprise him the day before the wedding. The look on his face when they surprised him was priceless! He was so happy to have them there and so they became his additional best men.

Tegan always wanted to get married in a park, with as much greenery around her as possible, and the sun on her face! Just like a picnic on a sunny day, but fancier. The wedding was a casual feel, a little bit vintage and rustic in style. They wanted everyone to just have a good time, feel really relaxed and just have fun! The ceremony set up in Hyde Park on a beautiful autumn day. It could not turned out better weather for a park wedding. It was like a fairytale! Tegan says.

From The Bride… My husband spent “hours” making the boxes for our cupcakes to go in, and trying the string and label around them, he was so proud of himself (that was literally his whole contribution the wedding).

My dress was from Bohemian Brides, an online boutique in Queensland. I found them online, chose my design, sent them my measurements and they made it to fit me perfectly. It’s a little bit scary ordering your dress online, but I could not have been happier with the finished product!

I had seen my photographers work on a friends wedding, and knew (before I was even in a relationship) that I wanted her for my wedding. The other vendors were found on Facebook, Instagram and by googling.

Walking around Hyde Park after the ceremony when we could calm down and take a deep breath and just enjoy the day and cozy up to each other for photo’s, was hands down my favorite part of the day. And then arriving at our reception and knowing that the rest of the night was all about having fun and dancing!

It was very important for us to have a Christian wedding. Being married now means getting to wake up every day next to your best friend, and knowing that what you have is for life. Knowing that we’ll never go a day without love and laughter. We’re so excited for the journey ahead!

The song I walked down the aisle to kept starting again intermittently throughout our ceremony to the point where it became a laughing matter for all. We just laughed along, it made it all fun.

Keep it simple! Go with your gut instinct and try and make your day a reflection of your relationship. Also, TRUST your vendors to just do their thing. If you give them too much direction you stifle their creativity. They’re in that business because they know what they’re doing, and when you let them do it freely they do it SO well, and you end up with incredible results! And don’t sweat the small stuff. Just have fun!

All my vendors were incredible! They were relaxed, which made me feel relaxed, and they did their jobs perfectly whilst having fun! I couldn’t have been happier with who we chose to be a part of our special day.

Contemporary Yacht Club Wedding in Perth

What did you do for your wedding favors? I’m personally loving Flights Of Fancy By Kristy idea of having a flower wrapping station where guests could wrap up some blooms to take home. Oh, that and this epic dessert cabinet (yum)! Marrying my love for sweets and pretty florals, this contemporary affair is one I’ll definitely be bookmarking for my Big Day and Teneil Kable has shared it all in the gallery!

From Kristy from Flights Of Fancy By KristyFrom the moment I met Franky I loved her – she was so different to most of our other Brides. It was clear right from the start that the most important thing for her was marrying her Stephen and all the other things — the decor, dress, food — was just incidental. Of course, she still wanted the day to be special but she didn’t want to go over the top with things.

As she and her Groom, Stephen, were both very relaxed, casual and down to earth people, we didn’t want the styling to be too elaborate or fussy. We worked with a vintage industrial theme but then added a touch of prettiness to it by bringing in the mint and peach colours that Franky loved. We focused on just a few styling features – great lighting, a flower wrapping station where guests could wrap up some flowers to take home with them, and an epic dessert cabinet.

The venue was so perfect – basically a huge grassed area with an amazing backdrop of the Swan River. As it was such an open space we decided to “frame” an area, using a dance floor underneath festoon lights as the central feature, bordered by the dessert cabinet and flower wrapping station, a few dining tables and some industrial style benches.

There were a couple of food stations set up where guests could go up and get food whenever they were hungry – an Asian style station by Bangkok Jump Street as well as a spit roast by The Golden Roast. This style of food service contributed to the relaxed feeling of the event.

We got so lucky with the weather – it was perfect and sunny on the day of the wedding but the next morning when we returned to pack down it was dark and absolutely pouring with rain!

Teneil Kable was the perfect choice for this couple who wanted their photography to be as natural and relaxed as the rest of their day. Teneil did an incredible job capturing the emotion of the day as well as the styling details.

What I loved most about this wedding was that it wasn’t a wedding with a huge budget but the couple were happy to spend in a few specific areas to create some wow factor. It was also really refreshing to work with a couple who maintained their focus on the real meaning of the day the whole way through — they never got too caught up in the details. It was such a loving, warm and meaningful celebration — a real pleasure to witness and be a part of!

Modern Outdoor Kings Park Spring Wedding

First I was mesmerized by this Bride’s beautiful gown. And I still am. Then I came upon the bridesmaids and I’m equally absorbed by their gorgeous glamour. Both styles were the perfect accompaniment to this fresh fete, led by Flower Talk’s talent and Touched By Angels’ romantic rentals. I Love Wednesdays captured it all and this gallery has me consumed as I continue to gush over these gowns.

From the beautiful Bride… We met through a mutual friend’s house party in Perth. At that time, I was living in Melbourne and TK was living in Busselton, so it was by chance that we met on that night. We managed to squeeze in a date while I was still in Perth and we were quick to become inseparable. We started to frequently fly interstate to see each other and before long, I decided to move to Perth for him.

After two years together, TK proposed to me on our holiday in the States. Because of the busy schedule I had planned, he realized that the only opportunity for him to propose had to be straight after our arrival into New York, the only time I had allocated for a power nap after a 20+ hour flight. As soon as we checked into our hotel, he took me to the Rockefeller Center in a rush to ice skate. At the end of our ice skating session, he suggested a quick photo in front of the Rockefeller Christmas tree when everyone cleared the rink. When the rink was cleared, the sheer number of people lined up for the next session was all too traumatizing so I went for the exit, at which point, I was taken by surprise. He led me to the middle of the rink and popped the question on Christmas day. If I could ice skate, I would have definitely fought him off. It was so embarrassing!

While a destination wedding appealed to us, we held our wedding in Perth for the convenience of our families and close friends. The ceremony was held at Matilday Bay Reserve, with a spectacular view of the Swan River, while our reception was held at Frasers Restaurants, State Reception in Kings Park, featuring a 180 degrees, floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the city.

Our photographer was Milena Dekic from I Love Wednesdays. We love her for her fine art photography and her effortless ability to capture the softest light in our wedding photos.

I wore an ivory dress with two layers of intricately beaded lace overlays by Alvin Fernandez from Ae’lkemi. My dress was a second purchase, which I fell in love with and bought three days prior to my wedding. The amazing team at Ae’lkemi fitted me in two days. I made the mistake of buying my original dress for value, and after unexpectedly paying half the price of the dress in alteration, I was not happy with the results. I wore a simple pair of South Sea pearl stud earrings, each with a single diamond. There were an anniversary present from TK and were perfect for the occasion. Keeping with the understated theme, I wore a pair of oyster grey, sling back peep-toe heels from Miu Miu.

I wore my hair in a low bun and had a vintage inspired side parting; I love the 1920s. Natural makeup with coral hued lips was the look of the day. I don’t wear much makeup often so it was important for me to still look like myself on the day. I wouldn’t want my husband thinking he’s marrying a different woman on the day.

My bridesmaids wore a soft moss green dress with a beaded bust and silk tulle overlay from George. I wanted to keep the tradition for bridesmaids to wear the same dresses, but at the same time was looking for a color that was less conventional. Again keeping with the understated theme, my bridesmaids wore nude heels with an ankle strap from Tony Bianco.

TK wore a midnight blue tuxedo with a black satin lapel, and the groomsmen wore chalk colored suits, both from Calibre.

We replaced the traditional bonbonnieres with a donation to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, as a gesture in loving memory of TK’s late brother-in-law. Our floral designer and stylist was Jappalin Manning from Flower Talk. We loved her for her exceptional quality of work, and her unwavering patience and guidance throughout our wedding planning. She went over and beyond styling our ceremony and reception, and the beauty clearly translates in our photos. As our wedding was in spring, the season itself influenced our choice of florals and colors. It was simply breathtaking.

From the Bride…Our wedding was a dream! The whole day felt like we were living in a fairy tale. From the moment we got engaged, the planning began. I had a very specific idea of what we pictured our dream wedding to be like, and it was so special how everything fell into place, and with the help of amazing vendors, our wedding dream became a reality. Our idea of a dream wedding was all things elegant and flowers for days- more flowers than we could ever imagine, and this happened, it was amazing! Our reception was held at Lamont’s Bishop House, and this suited our theme of an elegant, garden affair perfectly.

Our inspiration came from few sources; a lot of it was from wedding blogs, my favourite wedding blog—Style Me Pretty, of course—and Pinterest. But other than that, the inspiration was collected over the years we had been together, dreaming, planning, seeing pictures and thinking of ideas. I’ve always loved to create, plan and organise events because of the fun I have in thinking about themes, décor and all the other little things, so planning our wedding was wonderful! I love looking back at our beautiful photos that captured our day perfectly, and reminiscing on all the memories we have. There is nothing we would change about our day, it was more than we both ever imagined and the most perfect way to start our happily ever after together.
