Queensland Wedding Photo Shoot from Insight Creative + Carbine Avenue

It’s inspiration shoots like this one from Insight Creative + Carbine Avenue that get our heads spinning with ideas about how to up the ante in the word of wedding design. With a handful of crazy-talented vendors on board, this “make believe wedding” was put-together to showcase the best of the best for Townsville brides. Get ready to fill up your wedding ideas binder in the full gallery!

From Insight Creative + Carbine Avenue Organized and curated by Carbine Avenue and Insight Creative, this third Make Believe Wedding was held to showcase the “best of the best” available for weddings locally. Our desire has always been to show Townsville brides something unique and to inspire them to do something different and truly personal on their wedding day. This latest MBW involved 17 wedding suppliers who combined their thoughts, ideas and expertise to produce and record a magnificent day of wedding wonder. We played the entire day out as you would a real wedding — hair, makeup, gowns, suits, shoes, flowers, officiant, catering, wine, cakes and desserts, plus an entire day of shooting.

And this year we up’d the ante and added the first-ever Make Believe Wedding Event — at 6 p.m., we threw open the doors of the historic Queens Hotel and invited the public to come and enjoy what we had created. Plus, we added champagne, canapés, live music and even more styled tables and floral inspiration for brides-to-be.

Queensland Wedding Photo Shoot from Insight Creative + Carbine Avenue

Part of the joy of what we get to do here at SMP is to provide you with some of the best ingredients and tidbits of absolute lovely to help you make your wedding day the absolute best, most spectacular day of your life. And it’s shoots like this from Insight Creative that give us the greatest nuggets of wonderful from the best and brightest vendors and with a whole gallery filled to the brim of stealworthy ideas, now you’re cooking with gas. Amazing styling by Carbine Avenue of timber, twisted vines, and nature galore make up these beautiful tablescapes and the Townsville Flower Market centerpieces are almost too good to be true. And we get to see it all in the gallery right here.

From Karen of Carbine AvenueFor our third Make Believe Wedding, I wanted to create something completely different from the previous two shoots we had done. I was heavily influenced by all of the beautiful earthy, bohemian style images I had been seeing in recent months, and I added my latest obsession with aubergine and mulberry tones to create a rich and rustic theme. I used lots of raw materials — timber, twisted branches, moss and vines — for an earthy, natural feel and then added beautiful blooms by Townsville Flower Market for color and romance. Our reception included a very old, handmade timber slab table, and I added to this pink French wine glasses and cut-crystal, inlaid metal vases, antique silver and the most adorable cookie wedding favors in sewn paper bags from Cafe Bambini.

I wanted our bride styled as a free spirit, but she also had to be very soft and romantic, so the gown and headpiece that was custom designed for us by Katelyn Aslett was simply perfect. Our models, nicknamed Johnny and June, are a real-life husband and wife and so sweet together — there were even a few tears shed by our behind-the-scenes crew at the faux ceremony!

Queensland Industrial Inspired Wedding Photo Shoot by Insight Creative

Sometimes seeming opposites work so insanely well together. Take a color palette of soft pastels and drape them over an industrial space and voila, instant wedding magic. Or photo shoot magic in this case. And a heap of vendor goodness is to be thanked. Carbine Avenue created details worthy of the coolest faux wedding (including those fab save the dates) and Insight Creative snapped away behind the lens. See it all right here.

And how about the cutest film of all the behind the scenes goodness from Townsville Wedding Videos

From Honey of Insight CreativeThis is the second year we have created the “Make Believe Wedding.” This event is more then just a styled inspiration shoot — the day unfolds just like a real wedding except we can can call “Cut!” whenever we like to redo scenes! This year’s Make Believe Wedding was based on an “Urban Industrial” theme. A colour scheme of greys, duck egg blue and peach with metallic silver beautifully complimented our raw concrete backdrop. We used modern and rustic touches to create a real contrast of elements — stacked timber pallets framed by strands of soft, shiny ribbons; metal chairs and rusty steel carts alongside delicate flowers in creams and pastels. The wedding location was in a vacant commercial building in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

This year we asked couples to submit entries to be our model bride and groom. Reiner and Franzi won from public votes via our blog. The best part about this winning couple is their great story — they totally deserved to have the big wedding they never had the first time around. Why do we do this event? We run the event to inspire Townsville brides and to show them that you can achieve a beautiful, personal and unique wedding using all local suppliers. It is also a great opportunity to meet local wedding suppliers and work with other business that you admire.

From the Winning “Make Believe Wedding” Contest Entry of Reiner & Franzi… My husband and I have been married now for 4.5 years, but we haven’t had our white wedding! We got married in Germany at City Hall, but sadly we never made it to the church wedding afterwards because we got married six months before my husband moved to Australia. At the time, we didn’t have the money for a big wedding. Back then, we thought we would have the wedding as soon as we are settled in Townsville, but now 4 years are gone, and we still haven’t had that big day! For me it would be like a dream, to wear a real wedding dress.
