From Sophie Baker PhotographyKarla & Dave have the most authentic, deeply-rooted love for each other. They eloped in the morning beneath a chandelier-draped tree in the hinterland’s of Australia’s Gold Coast with 5 of their nearest and dearest friends. It was the most relaxed, genuine, heartfelt experience I (the photographer) have ever been involved in, and I walked away having gained two great friends in Karla & Dave. We met back up after their ceremony near sunset to continue their portraits. Karla’s ring is a smaller replica of Princess Kate’s.

Gold Coast Hinterland Wedding at Sarabah Estate Vineyard

I think about 99.9% of the weddings I see give me the travel bug… this Queensland countryside affair is no exception. Fortunately for us, this couple took full advantage of the stunning backdrop and were also kind enough to share their beautiful day with all of us. It’s the kind of effortless elegance we crave and we’re lucky The Arched Window Photography was there to capture every moment.

From The Bride…Mick and I met through a mutual friend at two separate sporting events – the cricket and the rugby. After having a good chat at the cricket (during a rain delay), neither of us didn’t think much more of it. By chance we saw each other at a Reds v Western force game, had another couple of drinks and a chat, after which he asked me out.

About three weeks in I knew he was the one. Having both been married before, and neither of us overly backward in coming forward, we were pretty upfront about who we were and what we were after in a partner. By chance, our needs/wants/goals etc were very similar and in most instances the same.

Proposal was very low key. We were at the farm for the weekend and upon waking up one morning, he asked me to marry him. No fireworks, not string quartet etc, but that wouldn’t have been very Mick. We had talked about it previously, but neither had a real need to get married initially. We were with each other because that’s where we wanted to be – we didn’t need to be married, but after a while we both wanted to.

What I love most about Mick is that he is who he is. There is no pretence with him, and as such he has a confidence without being arrogant. He is as honest and loyal as the day is long, and is the most genuine person I know. Mick loves the confidence that I give him.

Being able to share that experience with our family and close friends was the best part of our day. We didn’t have a huge wedding but those that were there were the ones that will be in our lives in the future.

My advice to other brides is it will all be fine… We had our reception in an open air marquee. Despite rain in the lead up week and ominous clouds on the day ( which looked great in the photos ) there was not a drop of rain on the day. The roof stayed off the marquee and the night was lovely. I did have moments of terror however.

That you can always aim for the wedding, that isn’t a wedding, but you will most likely end up with a wedding….

I tried to be as simple and what I thought was as elegant as possible. We did a country wedding, but we didn’t want too casual. Sarabah Estate was a big help in that regard, and we tried to keep it less formal by using local flower pods etc to decorate the tables alongside candles and flowers. Everything was shares of white, highlighted with waxy green leaves and Crow’s Ash pods.

Mick is from Canungra and it was important for him to have a wedding at home. We didn’t even consider having it anywhere else – it just felt right. It also meant that we could use our property for the photos which made it special for us.

A short honeymoon straight after the wedding – we kept it simple and went to Noosa. A very low key week – lots of good food, wine, trips to the beach and surrounds, and sleep-ins. We were shattered after the wedding and it was great to just relax after it all…. We may head overseas next year.

Stylish Beach Engagement Session

Combining a laid-back setting like the beach with a super chic black dress and a killer paid of Ted Baker London heels was a brilliant (+ gorgeous) move on this stunning bride-to-be’s part.  It’s what we like to call taking the normal beach e-sesion and kicking it up a notch, and when you lay your eyes on the breathtaking images from The Obsession Collection, you’ll know exactly what we mean.  See it all here.

From The Obsession Collection… Dave and Stevie first met about five years ago while working together at bar on the gold coast; this was just the beginning, they have been inseparable since.

After asking Stevie’s parents for permission, Dave planned a lovely engagement by taking Stevie to Port Douglas, walking her through a pretty park full of beautiful flowers and getting down on one knee.  He had originally planned to do it on the beach, but Stevie was a little worried about crocodile breeding season, so Dave had to improvise.  He still got the answer he was hoping for, Stevie cried and said YES.

Dave and Stevie are such a beautiful couple.  Stevie was so nervous about the engagement shoot, but Dave made her feel at ease and the rest just came naturally.  By the end, I didn’t need to direct the couple much at all as they had forgotten I was even there and just really enjoyed each other’s company.

It was a very gloomy overcast day, but absolutely beautiful for shooting outdoors, we went for a very natural look and really wanted to express the couples emotion and excitement of their engagement.

For all of these images I used Kodak Portra 160 to achieve soft clear skin tones and beautiful timeless images.

From Infinity Faith PhotographyThe Palazzo Versace was the perfect venue to celebrate the wedding of such a sophisticated and elegant couple. When we first met Emma and Andrew we knew this wedding was going to be very special. The way they spoke, dressed and even walked showed their true class and style.

Working with them was any wedding vendors dream come true. Everything was neatly planned and arranged. Their style was evident in every aspect of the wedding. Walking into the room where the bride was getting ready I straight away noticed the dress hanging from the curtain railing. It took up half of the room with the train draped about 3m from the window. It was accompanied by a 4m veil that complemented the dress to perfection.

The ceremony was on Mount Tambourine, about an hours drive from the reception venue and where the bride was getting ready. After the preparation shots we headed up to a beautiful little church in the small town. The iddlic location was enough to inspire anyone to fall in love with the concept of marriage.

Emma’s choice of flowers could not be more perfect to highlight this occasion. Beautiful white Peonies where everywhere to be seen. It complimented her dress and the venue perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to find Emma and Andrew did not leave the dance floor all night. It was a celebration of note. We thank them both for allowing us to be apart of such a special day and wish the a happy lifetime of marriage.

Gold Coast Engagement Session

From this moment on, whenever I hear the word “magical,” I will immediately think of this gorgeous engagement session captured by Bird And Boy Photography.  Because if these stunning, sun-filled images aren’t the epitome of all things magical, then I truly don’t know what is.  Think flowing fields, rays of light and one seriously adorable puppy.  See it all right here in the full gallery.

From Bird And Boy Photography… Casey and Tom are the epitome of romance. Within the beautiful natural atmosphere of Meadowbrook, Queensland we captured the genuine love and connection between this sweet soon-to-be-married couple. Not only did we have the pleasure to photograph these lovelies, but also their cute dog Rexy! The session was full of sweet embraces and many laughs… Tom is quite the joker and also an amazing musician! He brought his guitar along and wooed us with his incredible talent and beautiful sound. As you can see from the photographs, there were many giggles and cuddles between kisses. We cannot wait to shoot their wedding in three months time in Montville. We are counting down the days!
