Chocolate Cobwebs for Halloween

I've made meringue ghosts, chocolate chip spider webs, waffle cone witches hats and a slew of other spooktacular halloween treats but as far as packing a punch, these little cobweb toppers are everything. A total cinch to make, completely versatile  and my kids flocked to these like they were made of gold. Gilded Black Candy Apples

I used to think that candy apples we're one of those classic treats that you just didn't want to mess with. Yeah, you could add a caramel coating, some peanuts, m&m's, what have you. But in my opinion they all palled in comparison to the original version. That is, until you gild them. Because the second that happens, all bets go out the window. Gilded black candy apples?
