Fall Wreath DIY

For Thanksgiving this year I decided to take my floral game up a notch. Instead of showing up with a bouquet as a hostess gift, I'll be bringing a collection of fall wreaths to show my appreciation. They're surprisingly simple to make, and really give you the flexibility to be creative and use ingredients you really love. For more floral inspiration, head on over to my shop...

DIY Farmers’ Market Inspired Floral Arrangement

I've become well acquainted with farmers' markets over the course of the last few years, making it my weekly mission to pick up some local bounty. But the thought of incorporating some of my goods into a beautiful arrangement never really occurred to me. One peek through the gallery, however, and you can consider me convinced. Captured by ...

How to Make a Wild Fall Floral Arrangement

Fall is my favorite season for florals, foliage, and berries. I'm drawn to the warm, rich colors and all the different textures that comes along with the season. My arrangements tend to be a bit more wild in the fall, what with all of the gorgeous foliage right at my fingertips (my backyard, or my kind neighbor's yard). And today I'm going to be sharing a fabulous fall floral tutorial so that you, too, can add some festivity to your every day decor. Lingustrum Berry Persimmons...

How To Create a Foraged Floral Arrangement from Amy Osaba

I swear, in my next life I'm going to be a florist. Because just staring at Rylee Hitchner's images alone has moved me into full flung grinning-from-ear-to-ear territory. How could you not be at your best when surrounded by natures most beautiful products? Though I unfortunately seem to lack a green thumb in even the smallest of quantities...

How to Make a Terrarium from Make Tribe

I love that crafting 101 classes are popping up everywhere. Just the other day I spotted one that had a whole collection of courses from calligraphy to cupcake making to kids room decorating and chandelier crafting! Granted it was in australia but still! I love the re-found focus on all things handmade. Which is exactly why I'm a touch obsessed with this Terrarium Course that the girls at...

How To Arrange Flowers from Beauty in the Making + KT Merry

For me, arranging the perfect centerpiece is one of the most frustrating experiences ever. Because it never looks exactly like I want it to look. Well, at least it USED to be that is. But, I've unlocked the secret to flower arranging fun (otherwise known as stop-taking-myself-too-seriously) so now I can design centerpieces with joy, resting assured that sometimes imperfectly designed, lovingly fussed with and often slightly lopsided finished products are often the prettiest. And this piece...

We've showcased some really incredible bouquets in SMP Living's past, but I think it's safe to say that this one takes the cake. It's bright and beautiful and truly, utterly romantic. DIY Paper Flowers

So Abby's all about the papel picado bunting (which was glorious in it's own right!), but for me? It's the paper flowers. As far as I'm concerned, they became the star of the show (apart from...

How-To: Layered Flowers

I have this urn that I've been holding hostage. It was sent to me filled to the brim with pretty stems designed by my sweet friend Yumiko, of Hana Floral Design, for my mother-in-law's surprise party. And I keep meaning to send it back. But then, I see it out of the corner of my eyes and can't resist filling it...

DIY Flower Arrangement: Peonies, 3 Ways

Peonies are one of our most-loved flowers here at SMP Living and for good reason—they're just so darn gorgeous. The best part about these beautiful blooms? They stand so well solo or with just a touch of greenery, that arranging them is super simple and rather satisfying if you ask us. So that we can enjoy them throughout the whole season, we've come up with three fresh ways to arrange them, whether bunched by a bedside table, as a centerpiece for a summer tablescape or an accent to your...

Making Grocery Store Flowers Look Their Best from Wild Folk Studio

Confession time: I'm a bit of a flower snob. I've been known to snub florals of the grocery store variety in the past, so I was a little taken aback when our talented floral contributor, Caroline from Wild Folk Studio, came to us with this idea. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that plain jane flowers could look this gosh darn pretty. I am officially a believer, and there's a chance I owe an apology to grocery stores around the...

Making Your Flowers Last Longer from Wild Folk Studio

I've recently instilled a "must have fresh flowers at all times" rule in our home and, for just a few dollars a week, I'm constantly amazed at the a difference it makes. When it comes down to it though, I'm frugal by nature. So you better believe that I want those pretty stems to last as long as they can. Which is why I'm excited to have Caroline, from the gorgeous floral studio Wild Folk, here today sharing a few of her personal tips and...

There are many things I'm quite capable of, but maintaining a garden is not one of them. Black thumbs? I've got em'! Garland and Wintry Wreaths from Daisy Rose Floral Design

Surrounding ourselves with all-things-pretty is what we’re all about here at SMP at Home. Though the holidays are behind us now (insert soft sobs here), it doesn't mean that our table tops should remain undecorated and our doors unwreathed (it's a verb!). Captured by the talented Jessamyn Harris, Daisy Rose is here today sharing some gorgeous wintry wreaths and...

Simple Hanging Wreath

When hosting a party, especially a holiday party, you want to make sure that the ambiance is warm and inviting. This is exactly what these DIY hanging wreaths were made for. Yes, candles on their own are fantastic. But when guests see a few of these beauties hanging around your home, it'll be as if you're casually saying, "Oh, did I forget to mention that I'm an amazing hostess? Sorry about that!" When you're inevitably complimented, of course, you'll act as if it was just something you threw...
