Perfect Every Time Thanksgiving Turkey

Every year my dad makes our Thanksgiving bird. Actually he usually makes the whole spread. And his turkey is always amazing. But I'm 100% convinced that this one would give it a real run for it's money. This turkey is perfection. Crispy, buttery skin. Super moist meat. Flavor and flavor and flavor for days. Plus, we prepped the turkey the night before and honestly this turned out to be the easiest part of our entire Thanksgiving dinner. No basting necessary. To Prep Your Turkey the...

Butternut Squash & Apple Soup with Homemade Croutons

There is no better way to start a meal than with a warm, cozy bowl of soup.  This year I took the classic butternut squash soup and kicked it up a notch by adding granny smith apples, homemade croutons, and sage leaves.  All easy additions that will have your guests asking for seconds, and possibly even thirds. For more goodies, head on over to my blog, Waiting on Martha! Photography: ...

Buttermilk Brined Smoked Turkey With Chestnut Stuffing

As the newest Style Me Pretty Living contributor, I thought I'd start with a full Thanksgiving spread, just for you! But before we get to the goods (they're coming, I promise), I wanted to share a couple of recipes that really made our event shine. My husband and I started brining and smoking our turkey on the Big Green Egg 2 years ago, and we'll never go back.  The brine, while an extra step, is a complete game...

Pan-Seared Ribeye Steak from JoPhoto

Truth be told, I'm not much of a steak eater. But when I do indulge, I indulge hard and I make sure to do it right. Sauteed mushrooms, a pad of butter, medium rare and straight off the grill (kind of making myself hungry here)... It never really occurred to me that there was any other way to do it. But after drooling over Kevin &...

Date Night Idea: Thai Turkey Burgers

My boyfriend and I go through phases where we're on a dating roll, trying out new things on a constant basis, or repeating the same activities day in and day out. Ah, the dating rut - it happens! I'm thinking we should take a note from sweet Mekenzee & Lee and instill Thai Tuesdays! One night a week dedicated to spending time with your loved one, cooking up something fierce in the kitchen? Now this is something I can happily get on board with! Captured by...

Quinoa + Sweet Potato Cakes

We're all about healthful eating today on SMP Living. From the Kale Salad that we started with to the Lentil Soup that we just gobbled up. But of all of our favorite clean eating recipes, this is definitely our new favorite. Because it kind of tastes bad for you but good for you at the same time. And whether you serve it on a bun, burger-style, or top it with a big ole dollop of yogurt (or...

Summer Lentil, Kale & Sweet Potato Soup

Cooking dinner for my family is a bit of a challenge. My kids basically only eat white food. Chicken nuggets, noodles, ice cream. Don't judge, we're working on it. My husband on the other hand is an 80/20 vegan. Meaning that 80% of the time he eats a strict vegan, no oil (at all) diet and the other 20% he eats whatever he wants. He does this for health reason and actively tries to push that 80% closer to 100%. Anyway, finding quick easy meals for both ends of the spectrum is always a challenge...

Kale, Avocado + Carrot Salad

When you work in what is essentially a test kitchen (read: um, hello caramel shortbread bars and funfetti ice cream...) having 1 day a week of pure, clean, healthful eating is a must. And kale, well, as trendy as kale might be...it's also quite the superfood. And quite delicious. So...

Homemade Tortillas

Living in New England, I've discovered how very boring supermarket tortillas can be. They are no where near the soft, fluffy varieties that I grew up with and for lack of a better description, are merely vehicles to hold the goodness inside. So imagine if that vehicle was like the mercedes of tortillas. A bit thicker than you might expect, soft, full of flavor and so addicting you might find yourself in the kitchen at 2AM slathering them with butter and devouring them right up. Yeah, these are...

White Asparagus Ravioli from Almond Corner

Though I'm all about easy dishes that can be thrown together in a pinch, once in a while it's nice to slow down and spend some quality time in the kitchen. Getting reacquainted with your pasta maker and pots and pans can be incredibly satisfying, I swear.  Hand me a (large) glass of chilled white wine, play some really great music and send me off with Almond Corner's recipe for white asparagus ...

Dinner at the Pond with Clary Photo + Recipe

Reason #190218 why I love summer: camping! Or, rather, glamping, if I'm being honest. Fancified camping is totally my schtick. The idea of grabbing your gear, tossing the kids in the car and heading out to the great outdoors to cook over an open flame and fish in still water is really what summer's all about. Captured by Clary Photo, it's a safe bet that I'll be following in her footsteps in the coming months. ...

Tequila Lime Chicken with Corn + Tomato Salad

Summer is here, my friends. Which means that the grills have been uncovered, the tomatoes are growing and the sweet, sweet corn is about to pop up and say hello. It's my FAVORITE time of year and I have literally bursting at the seams to make this tequila chicken with corn & tomato relish. Because it just reminds me of days outside, bare feet and the pure yumminess of Summertime fun. Oh and it's...

Best Ever Marinara Sauce

This is a recipe for far more than a dose of serious deliciousness... it's a recipe for an aroma so good it will send your loved ones into a full blown tummy rumbling frenzy. I for one think sauteed onion and garlic is one of the best smells on the planet (right up there with rain showers and fresh cut grass) but the fact that it's so completely easy is the absolute icing on the cake. A good marinara recipe...

Outstanding in the Field with Anais + Dax

Now that the weather is finally beginning to warm up in Toronto (note: I use the word "warm" loosely), I find myself daydreaming of outdoor activities.
