Butternut Squash & Apple Soup with Homemade Croutons

There is no better way to start a meal than with a warm, cozy bowl of soup.  This year I took the classic butternut squash soup and kicked it up a notch by adding granny smith apples, homemade croutons, and sage leaves.  All easy additions that will have your guests asking for seconds, and possibly even thirds. For more goodies, head on over to my blog, Waiting on Martha! Photography: ...

Buttermilk Brined Smoked Turkey With Chestnut Stuffing

As the newest Style Me Pretty Living contributor, I thought I'd start with a full Thanksgiving spread, just for you! But before we get to the goods (they're coming, I promise), I wanted to share a couple of recipes that really made our event shine. My husband and I started brining and smoking our turkey on the Big Green Egg 2 years ago, and we'll never go back.  The brine, while an extra step, is a complete game...

Dressing For Thanksgiving from Damsel in Dior

My stomach is already growling with thoughts of turkey & dressing this November. Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite time of year, not only for the gathering of family and friends but also for the fun ways you can layer up your wardrobe. I tend to steer on the more casual side of dressing for Thanksgiving but even if it means just adding a piece of bling, there should always be a bit of flair incorporated into...

Fall Wreath DIY

For Thanksgiving this year I decided to take my floral game up a notch. Instead of showing up with a bouquet as a hostess gift, I'll be bringing a collection of fall wreaths to show my appreciation. They're surprisingly simple to make, and really give you the flexibility to be creative and use ingredients you really love. For more floral inspiration, head on over to my shop...

An Easy Floral Hair Crown

For the last few years, flower crowns have risen to the tippy top of the accessory chain. But what about those of us who just don't want to go full circle? Some of the lovely ladies I work with don't feel comfortable wearing an entire crown but they still want that same romantic vibe. This past weekend I decided to try and make a half crown. It came out better than expected! It's great because you can wear all of...

A Gilded Ombre Pumpkin DIY

This year I decided it was essential to embrace Halloween with a bit of gilded pumpkin goodness. I recently discovered the wonders of Martha Stewart crafts paint and I experimented with a few colors to make a gradient effect on a simple kraft pumpkin. It really is a simple project, but the resulting product is filled with wow. Martha Stewart Metallic Acrylic craft Paint in three shades (available at...

How to Make a Wild Fall Floral Arrangement

Fall is my favorite season for florals, foliage, and berries. I'm drawn to the warm, rich colors and all the different textures that comes along with the season. My arrangements tend to be a bit more wild in the fall, what with all of the gorgeous foliage right at my fingertips (my backyard, or my kind neighbor's yard). And today I'm going to be sharing a fabulous fall floral tutorial so that you, too, can add some festivity to your every day decor. Lingustrum Berry Persimmons...

An Elegant Updo in Seconds

If you've ever been a bridesmaid, you know you don't get to just show up looking pretty and then walk with your friends down an aisle. When you say yes to being a bridesmaid, you say yes to helping out with anything the bride may need on her big day. Often, that leaves us with little or no time to get ready. We usually have big plans for blowing our hair out, curling it and doing a final touch up. But in reality, you look down at your watch, realize you have to be photo-ready in under an hour...

Breakfast Toast for Two

It's about all I can do to muster up a pot of coffee in the morning.  The prospect of making a big meal before noon is just beyond me.  Luckily, there's TOAST!  Toast is the answer to most prayers.  In this rendition, we're exploring the sweet and savory side of toast.  Sometimes we want the sweet jolt of honey and plums, other times we want a kick of salt and spice from prosciutto and pepper.  With toast, we can have it all!  And... we can make it with one eye open.  Coffee helps. For...

A weekend at the Parker Palm Springs is the perfect way to check out of normal life and check into a life of glamour, sunshine and relaxation!  It's been a longtime favorite of mine for it's beautiful design (by none other than Jonathan Adler himself), stunning grounds and amazing spa.  Last weekend my husband, our two dogs and I spent a weekend there...

Hungarian Langos

Lángos is a deep fried flat bread that is served warm and usually topped with sour cream and grated cheese or garlic butter (a fabulous combination, if you ask me!) Traditonally, this dish was made from leftover bread dough and baked in a brick oven. Inspired by an old family recipe, this particular version is stuffed with sheep milk cheese and herbs (in other words: perfection). For more recipes, be sure to check out my blog...

Blackberry Lemon Cake from Love & Lemons

What's a better combo than berries and cream? If you ask me, it's berries, cream… and cake. Better yet, cake that's scented with lemon. This one is pretty simple and easy to make. It's also vegan and uses healthy coconut oil which should be enough justification to eat it for breakfast if you really wanted to (surely, I didn't...) If you have more restraint than I do, it would be a lovely addition to a...

3 WAYS TO STYLE LEATHER SHORTS

I live in denim shorts during the summer but too much of a good thing can get, well, boring.  So lately I've been mixing it up with leather shorts and finding they're surprisingly almost as versatile as denim shorts!  They're so easily dressed up or down and I've been playing around with various fun ways to style them.  Below I've shown three different looks, and there's a bonus 4th look on my blog, A House in the Hills.  So, what do...

So Almond Corner is a relatively new-to me food blog, but it has quickly risen to the top of my list. Her recipes are innovative, easy to follow, and a treat for the eyes AND the tastebuds. Though this one is...

Behind the Scenes at Bottega Louie

There are a few things in this life that I'm passionate about but I have to admit that food & design rank amongst the top. And when you combine the two? Well it's simply sensory overload in my eyes. We recently had the opportunity to get Behind the Scenes with the stunning LA pastry shop and restaurant, Bottega Louie, and I've barely been able to contain my excitement since.
