Having a Baby Girl? This Blush & Gold Nursery is a Must See
Tour a blushing nursery filled with a pink and gray color palette with touches of gold and a stunning tufted crib perfect for a baby girl.
Blush and Gray with the prettiest touch of gold are having such a moment in this little lady's nursery. Designed by Danielle Reidy for Sadie Road, it's a cozy mashup of elegant chandeliers and whimsical elephant hampers and just the kind of place that's perfect for housing the newest addition to the fam. Erica from Everything Erica, a popular Chicago food blog, wanted a blush + grey nursery for her baby girl, Elia. The goal was to create a nursery that felt serene, feminine and sweet for baby girl "E" and the new parents to spend time in. I knew I wanted to use neutral colors for the furniture in order to keep it practical in case my clients wanted to use again for future babies.
Knowing that grey + cream would be used for the larger furniture, I wanted to use blush as the primary color, with smaller accents in white and gold. The crib and changing table were the first two items selected and were the inspiration for the rest of the space.
The tufted crib from Restoration Hardware is a show stopper and was the perfect piece to build from--it's a classic piece with beautiful detail and has the sweet, romantic look we were going for. I always recommend picking one piece to use at the focal point of the space and using that as inspiration to guide the other elements in the room.
With the crib being the focal point, I wanted to introduce the blush color to that wall by painting an accent wall and having little touches of it in the crib skirt and bedding. The wall decal is one of my favorites and has such a lovely, whimsical look (and message), while still being subtle. It add a little visual interest but is not too busy.
With the focal point of the room complete it was a matter of pulling together the other pieces needed for functional storage and a few pretty accessories to tie it all together. The storage ottoman fit in nicely with the tufted look while providing a place to stash miscellaneous items that Erica won't want out in the open (i. E. Her breast pump!). It also is a place for her husband to sit if he wants to keep her and the baby company during feedings.
The bookshelves were designed to bring a little touch of blush + gold the wall opposite the accent wall. This was the perfect place to add a little stylish storage for books, stuffed animals and minimal accessories. Erica loves elephants and wanted to incorporate those somewhere in the room so we added a few sweet animal art prints to the small corner wall, and a hamper that's neutral and super adorable!
Of course we wanted to have a few personalized pieces in the space as well! We did a gold "E" on a small wall next to the closet, and a pretty, floral patterned pillow with "Elia" printed on it.
