White paint lovers, don't let this title fool you. There IS a hefty dose of white in this abode, but there's also a splash of daring dark as well. I'm looking at you, gray cabinetry and gorgeous green office! Designed by Studio McGee it's home that boasts contrast with subtlety and gives off a light and airy vibe in the process. See the full tour captured by Lindsay Salazar Photography in The Vault!
From Studio McGee... The living room is light and fresh - exactly how I feel they should be. I love to make other spots in a home more dramatic if the client is up for it (offices, bedrooms, powder baths, etc.) but people tend to gather and congregate in the brighter rooms so we try to always make them feel that way.
The home was designed by Fox Group Construction and there are gorgeous floor-to-ceiling mouldings everywhere. We debated for awhile about whether or not to hang artwork and ultimately decided not to because our budget was getting close and the mouldings can hold their own.
Our client has young boys and needed durable furniture. We kept the two big pieces very functional and then had a little fun with the chair in the corner. The pillows have color and pattern without it being overkill. I love that how the modern sofa and pillows play off of the more traditional bones of the house. The dark kitchen cabinets are so striking against the selections in the living room.
Our client wanted her husband's office to feel masculine and was considering blue walls. I had been dying to do green-black walls somewhere, but the right project had not presented itself and I just knew this was the one. It took some convincing, but I'm so glad our client went for it. The floor-to-ceiling moulding in that rich color is dramatic and just plain awesome. The wood desk breaks up the painted surfaces and the vintage rug is the perfect complement to it all. As I mentioned in the video and living room posts, Fox Group Construction designed the home and Christopher Scott did the cabinetry. A note on the paint color, it's definitely one you need to test first because it changes with the light!
