Floral First Birthday Bash

First BirthdayKids PartyParty
This first birthday is elegance and whimsy all wrapped into one. And it has everything to do with the floral draped tables by Michele Gledhill Flowers & Styling, the watercolor cake by Yummy Little Cakes and probably the painted pineapples too. We have a thing for gilded fruit, what can we say? Crafted by Mom and designer, Carmen Weddings, along with photography by Xander & Thea, click here for even more.

As a wedding planner I'm naturally obsessed with gorgeous flowers, pretty cakes and sweet details. So when it came to planning my daughters first birthday party, I couldn't resist but to ensure not only was it fun for Alana-Bo's sweet friends but to also add some pretty details to make our heart flutter!

The colours of the party were inspired by paintings Alana-Bo had created at nursery. Eventually this gave me the idea that I would really like a personalised print for her party - which we placed at the entrance to greet family and friends. So now adding to her gallery wall we have a stylish piece of art created by Luxury Paper Goods Designer, Abigail Warner.

Alana-Bo is a June baby, and I was thrilled to be able to add much loved peonies into our centrepieces - along with the colours of pinks, corals and different shades of blue, which were then beautifully created by Michele Gledhill Flowers & Styling.

Born in the year of the horse, I thought it would be sweet to spray-paint miniature horse figurines gold, to add a little touch to the dining tables. Then the gold pineapple was just a little personal something as her grandparents have nicknamed her 'golden pineapple bun girl' - apparently her cheeks resemble Chinese pineapple buns!

The cake - this was more incredible than I could have imagined, thank you to Yummy Little Cakes. I stumbled across a gorgeous cake on Pinterest which I instantly fell in love with - feeling inspired by the trailing flowers, I asked for a one tier design with beautiful watercolour affect florals and to add the word 'One' in calligraphy style writing which matched the bespoke birthday print. Then by adding fresh flowers to the base of the cake, it simply transformed it from gorgeous to wow!

Whether for a kids party or wedding, I do like stylish balloons - it adds an element of fun to a celebration. For Alana-Bo's party we chose a white three foot balloon decorated with tassels, a pug balloon because we have a pug in our family, plus a variety of 'Yay', 'Awesome' and 'Hooray' ones for her little friends to take home.

As for the emoji balloons... this was for the parents! Thank you to Studio DIY for the step-by-step guide - it was so much fun making them.

To keep the children entertained we hired soft play - this was a hit with them all and it certainly kept them entertained throughout.

But with any event, finding the perfect venue was key. Amalfi White, first built in 1860 are based in Derbyshire, England. The Ballroom is large enough for what we had in mind and it has the most wonderful natural light streaming through the big windows. A building which is aesthetically stunning, serves excellent food and offers great service - it was our ideal location especially as we wanted to cater for both children and parents.

Because this was Alana-Bo's first birthday celebration, we knew we wanted this captured perfectly and professionally. I'm in love with timeless, fine art photography and for this, I have to thank Xander & Thea Photography for the most stunning photos of this very special occasion. Moments we can now treasure forever.
