You know from her Behind the Blog feature that Brittany Robertson is nothing if not entirely lovely. Well, not surprisingly, so is the place she calls home. With most of her larger pieces from easy to find big box stores, she’s layered in a sense of family, of history and of soul into every last nook and cranny. Have fun clicking through the images from and don’t forget to check out the full gallery for even more goodness!
When we first moved into the house two years ago I had a completely different color scheme and theme going on in the living room. As with anyone it takes me a while to figure out my style and I always find myself changing things around and tweaking them. This room was a classic example of layering. I started out with this amazing rug from Rugs USA, I like to pick things in neutrals because I do change my mind so often, and do small decorative objects or throw pillows in pops of color. Our couches are from ikea, and the tufted chair is from Homesense. The white coffee table is also from Ikea and the round tray is from Homesense. Then I added the mirror which I hand painted bits of gold onto and the four white frames from target.
We then decided the room needed more personal touches so thats where my new shelves came in. Floating shelves or any type of shelving is great when your room needs a more personal touch. You can fill it with things you love. My favourite artist is Anna Bond from Rifle Paper co so I have about 4 prints from her on the shelves. My gold R is from Chapters and I picked up the rest from Anthropologie, target and a local store called Propeller and Co. My gold side tables were diy of the Ikea ps 2012 side tables. I just sprayed the bottom half gold! I am in love with our living room now and feel like it a true reflection of our style!
I can’t take any credit for how amazing this kitchen looks! Robyn from Deeproot Developments picked out everything from the backsplash to the pendant lights and I just said “Yes, I love!” I love white kitchens and have wanted one for years so this was a dream come true for me! Our bar stools are from Restoration Hardware. My bunny cookie jar is anthropologie and the assorted egg and white carton pottery is crate and barrel. All my little plants used throughout the house are ikea or crate and barrel. Wooden cutting boards from Chapters. My measuring cups were anthropologie and white recipe box is from Spruce Collective.
My husband picked out our dining table (Restoration Hardware) and boy did he do a great job. I love the mix of rustic and glam throughout our house. I do not believe your style has to stay the same everywhere. Mix it up, thats half the fun! Little dresser was from homesense, spool of pom pom garland and ribbon Anthropologie. Milk glass vases were thrifted, polka dot bowl H&M home, silverware was ikea and artificial plants were from target. I made the table runner by layering craft paper and left over wallpaper from our hallway (York wallpaper).
It took a while for me to find some inspiration when starting to work on my girls’ bedroom. A local blogger Jennifer from Dearest Someday did a post of polka dot’s on her walls using small round labels which I loved and used as a starting point for the room. I painted the dresser in shades of peach to give the ombre effect. Then, carried hints of peach and gray throughout the room. Their lace teepee is from Banana j creations, their ruffle bedding is from Target, the white and peach dresser is from Ikea and the chalkboard was from Homesense. I made their banner with tissue paper, and the black polka dot wall using labels that I then coloured in with a black sharpie. I love all their cute little baby clothes so much, and in particular could not part with this adorable camel coat from baby Zara so I hung it as “art” on the wall. Their bunk beds were hand me downs that I painted Benjamin Moore iron mountain.
