The idea of hosting a party just because can be quite daunting. But for those of us that love to entertain, this exactly what we dream of doing. So we’re hoping to make it a bit easier by sharing fun party themes that we discover around the web. Like this absolutely lovely Flower Picking & Arranging Party hosted by Aster B. Flowers and photographed by Esther Mathieu. Check out even more party themes right here!

Aster B. Flowers invited friends and clients, including several floral designers, to an evening of camaraderie and floral design to celebrate the beginning of the season for locally-grown flowers. The evening began with a tour of the farm’s flower fields. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a Mediterranean feast and sipped sangria while arranging flowers under the early summer evening sky with the farm’s historic barn as a backdrop.

The night was conceived to bring together the creative women in Aster B.’s community. It was a night for women with similar interests and businesses to bond, collaborate and network. Everyone agreed it was inspiring and rejuvenating to be together and to play with flowers for fun – without the pressure of designing for a client’s special event.

Many of the party-goers are committed to using local flowers in their work whenever possible. For this event, everyone got to design with early season flowers such as Icelandic poppies, cerinthe, stock, cosmos, and peonies.

The evening was particularly inspiring for Melissa Glorieux, the founder of Aster B. , a flower farm and floral design studio. She moved to Essex, Massachusetts from San Francisco not knowing a soul, but hoping to find creative people with an interest in locally-grown flowers and food. The gathering represented just that – and highlighted the community that has grown up around her little flower farm.
