I’ve been on the hunt for a new desk for some time now, and when our in-house DIYer suggested we make one ourselves I swear I could have kissed her square on the lips! Enter: the DIY hairpin desk. I’m convinced that if we hadn’t confessed it’s an Ikea hack already, nobody would ever know. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s beyond chic.

Materials
Ikea coffee table
Hairpin legs (we used 28” Raw Steel 3 Rod Legs)
Mint spraypaint
½” screws
Electric drill
Ruler

step-1Spraypaint the hairpin legs mint in two-three light coats. Let dry 2 hours.

step-2Place the coffee table top facedown on the floor (ideally cushion with a blanket to prevent any scuff marks). Place the hairpin legs about 2” away from each corner (about an inch away from the pre-drilled holes).

step-3Secure each hairpin leg in place with screws. Flip the desk over, and voila!

Ps. Love the painting? We’ve got all the steps to make that beauty right here!
